Kurosagi returns!
On the 6th, we discovered that TBS’s drama “Kurosagi” which aired last April with NewS’s Yamashita Tomohisa as a swindler, will become a movie. This is Yamasita’s first movie role. He will be a swindler who coolly deceives other swindlers who have evil intentions. Horikita Maki and Ichikawa Yui will also be acting in this. The drama had an overall viewing average of 15.7 %, and with this popularity, it seems that “Kurosagi” will have an interesting plot to reveal next spring.
Yamashita’s break came with his first leading role in a drama, and this time, it’ll be his first leading role in a movie.
“Kurosagi” is a hit comic that has sold over 350 thousand sets. The swindlers who deceive others with words are the “shirosagi”. The swindlers who play with people’s feelings are “akasagi”. And the one who only aims to take large sums of money from shiro and akasagi is a Kurosaki, Yamashita’s character, who goes by the name of Kurosagi. This enjoyable human empathy drama’s popularity is bringing it back to the big screen.
The drama’s producer says, “I originally wanted to make a movie which shows the bitter regret that people have when people they trust betray them. As they are deceived, how will people trust others. I want to bring out people’s acts and souls as well as the human nature."
About Yamashita, he compliments, “He sticks perfectly to the main character of the drama, and he becomes a hero that rids the world of bad people”. He adds, “He’s matured since then, and it seems as if he’s deepened his perspective. If he can successfully bring that to life on screen, he’ll outdo “Sting” (a 1973 movie on a swindler).”
Yamashita: “I was hoping for a movie role, and to be able to be the leading role in the drama was really worthwhile”, he says thankfully. “In this Kurosagi role, the character is totally opposite of the drama I am doing now (Fuji Television’s “Proposal Daisakusen” in which he is a man who cannot confess his love to his childhood friend) so I will try my best to return to Kurosaki. The drama is based on the popular manga of the same name by Hisaya Nakajo, which has already been dramatized in Taiwan. Maki Horikita plays the protagonist Mizuki Ashiya, a Japanese girl in the U.S. who one day sees the young athlete Izumi Sano (Shun Oguri) compete in the high jump on television. She begins to idolize him, and decides to move to Japan to attend the same school as him. However, Izumi goes to an all-boys school, so Mizuki disguises herself as a boy to achieve her dream of being with her idol.
Johnny's Jr's Toma Ikuta plays the part of Shuichi Nakatsu, a classmate and friend of Mizuki and Izumi.
Iconic pop star Seiko Matsuda has been added to the cast of this drama series. She will make special appearances as the mysterious principal of the school where the story takes place.

TV Asahi's detective drama special, "Sakurasho no Onnatachi," is being turned into a full series. The special aired last September in the network's "Doyo Wide Gekijo" time slot, and now the series will air at 9:00pm on Wednesdays, starting sometime in July.
Several cast members of the original special are returning, including lead actress Reiko Takashima. The series still revolves around the same team of female detectives, though the characters have been renamed. The Shigotonin series started back in 1972 and has many different incarnations as TV series, movies and TV specials. The story is basically about men who go undercover and assassinate bad guys in the Edo period. Higashiyama will play a swordsman. Matsuoka will play an artist who uses a brush to drip poison into his victims' mouth as they are sleeping. Ohkura will play a dollmaker who uses the dolls to kill people, such as using a toy snake to choke his victim. This 2007 special will be the first Hissatsu drama in 15 years. Filming began on February 3rd in Kyoto.

Singer Masako Mori will act in her first lead drama role in 22 years. The special episode "Okaasan, Boku ga Umarete Gomenasai" will air as part of Fuji TV's "Kinyo Prestige" drama slot (Friday 9:00pm) on July 13. In it, Mori will play the mother of a young boy with cerebral palsy.
The drama is inspired by a true story. In 1978, Mori sang a song on television composed by Minoru Endo. It was adapted from a poem written by a young boy who suffered from cerebral palsy and died three years earlier at the age of 15. He had been a big fan of Mori.
A book about the boy's life was published around that time. It was eventually read by producer Tadayuki Hazama, who decided that he wanted to make it into a drama but was unable to find an actress to play the part of the mother. As fate would have it, Mori made her return to acting in this year's "Dondo Bare" as the mother of the main character, and Hazama immediately offered her the role.
The rest of the main cast includes Naoki Watanabe as the young boy, Eiichiro Funakoshi as the father, and Saki Fukuda as an acquaintance of the boy.
