Here, Fukuyama plays the mystery-solving physics professor Manabu Yukawa (also known as "Galileo"), whose intelligence and good looks are offset by his eccentric character. He is contrasted by his partner, the rookie detective Kaoru Utsumi (Kou Shibasaki), a character who only appears later in the original novels.

However, his admission is incomplete - he won't say what happened during the 48 hours between the murder and his confession. While the former detective is the protagonist in the novel and the film, the drama version is told from the perspective of Shiki (Shiina), the cop interrogating the man.

"Hataraki Man," "Mop Girl" theme songs announced

In separate announcements, the theme songs for two upcoming drama series have been revealed.

Rock band UVERworld will provide the theme for NTV's adaptation of "Hataraki Man," starring Miho Kanno. The song is titled "Ukiyo CROSSING" and goes on sale November 14.

Meanwhile, actress Erika Sawajiri will release her second single under her singer name of ERIKA. "Destination Nowhere" is scheduled for release on November 28, and will be used as the theme song for TV Asahi's "Mop Girl," starring Keiko Kitagawa.

Kumi Koda collaborates with TVXQ

Kumi Koda is collaborating with Korean boy band TVXQ (also known as Tohoshinki) for her 38th single, "LAST ANGEL." The idea for a collaboration developed last year, when they both performed at the Asia Song Festival.

"LAST ANGEL" will be the image song for the Japanese version of "Resident Evil: Extinction," which opens in theaters on November 3. The single goes on sale four days later.

New Johnny's group: Hey! Say! JUMP

On Monday, Johnny's Jimusho held a press conference to announce the formation and debut of a new unit, named Hey! Say! JUMP (short for Johnny's Ultra Music Power). The group is the largest Johnny's act in history, featuring 10 members in all.

JUMP is an expansion of the Hey! Say! 7 unit that formed earlier this year. Five members have been added, and the lineup has been split into two sub-units. Hey! Say! Best will consist of the five high schoolers: Kota Yabu, Yuya Takaki, Kei Inoo, Hikaru Yaotome, and Daiki Arioka. The younger members will become the new Hey! Say! 7, consisting of Yuto Nakajima, Keito Okamoto, Ryosuke Yamada, Yuri Chinen, and Ryutaro Morimoto. Together, the members of JUMP have an average age of 15 years old.

The group's first single will be released on November 14, titled "Ultra Music Power." The song will be the theme for Fuji TV's broadcast of the Volleyball World Cup, which is being held in Japan starting in November.

In addition, their first concert on their own is scheduled for December 22 at the Tokyo Dome.

Fukuyama, Shibasaki team up for "Galileo" theme

Masaharu Fukuyama and Kou Shibasaki are collaborating for the theme song to "Galileo," the upcoming Fuji TV drama series they are co-starring in. Titled "KISS Shite," it will be released as a single by Shibasaki, under the alias KOH+.

"KISS Shite" is written, composed, and produced by Fukuyama. He also appears on the track itself, playing guitar and singing the chorus. According to the drama's producer, Yoshihiro Suzuki, Fukuyama is also in charge of the instrumental main theme and subtheme for the series.

The theme song will be available as a ringtone starting on October 15, the same day as the premiere of "Galileo." The show's soundtrack has been scheduled for a simultaneous release with the "KISS Shite" single on November 21.

Inohara, Seto register marriage

Just one day after announcing his engagement to actress Asaka Seto, V6's Yoshihiko Inohara revealed that the two registered their marriage on Saturday.

Like the previous announcement, Inohara informed his fans first during a concert in Tokyo. According to a source, they submitted the registration during the late night on Friday, after holding their press conference. Inohara said that the date had been unplanned - he and Seto had been carrying their completed registration form with them for some time, and after seeing the reactions to their marriage announcement, they decided that the timing was right.

Yuko Takeuchi to star in "Team Batista"

Takeru Kaido's medical mystery novel "Team Batista no Eikou" is finally being turned into a movie. The book won the grand prize of the "Kono Mystery ga Sugoi! Awards" in 2005, and its popularity resulted in roughly 25 movie studios and television networks fighting over adaptation rights. In the end, TBS won out, and is teaming with Toho to release a film on February 9 of next year.

The story revolves around a university hospital and a team of doctors specializing in the Batista procedure, an alternative to heart transplantation. The team has a 100% success rate until they perform three consecutive operations that result in the patient's death. An internal investigation begins to determine the reasons for the failures.

The protagonist of the novel is a male doctor in his forties, but TBS suggested replacing the character with a young female. As a result, Yuko Takeuchi now plays the lead as Taguchi, a doctor in charge of the investigation. She initially declares the incidents as accidental deaths, but an eccentric employee from the Ministry of Health, Labour and Welfare (played by Hiroshi Abe) suddenly appears and asserts that the deaths were actually murders. Together, the two continue to probe the matter.

Yoshihiro Nakamura is directing. Filming begins on the 7th.

STORYLINE:
XT, AJ, FW, BL all four grew up on Westside Street together and currently study in Ying Ye School. One month away from graduation. XT's dad is a police officer in Westside Street and is retiring tomorrow. But just on that day, AJ they all had a fight with the Dinosaur gang in the school and were almost expelled by the principal. Officer Xia went to settle the conflict and not only did it not get settled, his gun got misplaced by the principal too. Everyone thus discussed things over and decided that AJ they all will remain in the school and they must find the gun within the one month of graduation to let Officer Xia retire peacefully and happily. AJ, FW and BL then can successfully graduate. While finding the missing gun, they discovered that a ex-convict Grey Wolf who escaped from prison is possibly connected with the missing gun and even more surprisingly, the Grey Wolf is actually having close communication and contact with students in Ying Ye. Among the teenagers, they had to cooperate to find Officer Xia's missing gun and this let AJ and XT who have since young been at loggerheads to develop feelings for each other. FW who has always liked XT now becomes the love rival of AJ. This love triangle will have what impact on AJ and FW's friendship? AJ and XT who used to be as close as siblings, will their relationship change? Who stole Officer Xia's gun? And how are they going to find it? What will be discovered in their process? Let the four people use their own ways to bring you this story in 2007's Summer.

Very Man, very handsome but a bit naughty. Suitable to be a detective, clear-headed, good at analysing stuff, very detailed and caring and have good observation skills. A great leader. Sometimes will have wierd views and logic (like if it's red light and there's no car, he will just cross the road)

Background: House is at XiMenDing old block, sells dunno what noodle with parents to earn a living.

Human relations:
Ah Jiang, Fang Wei, Bulu, Xia Tian, the four of them grew up together and are great friends. Ah Jiang and Xia Tian since young are at loggerheads and only recently started to admire each other because they saw each other's loyalty/willingness to stand up for own rights/protect own rights/defend what's right(don't know how to translate正义感) and thus started dating.
But even if they both like each other, they seem fated to be at loggerheads. Example, when ah Jiang first wanted to reveal his heart to Xia Tian, he drank some beer to build up courage and ended up holding the wrong hand and telling the wrong person he likes her(-personal view again: isn't he suppose to be smart, observant, good detective material? this seem to contradict-) The second time he wanted to tell her, he worked up the courage to send her a SMS but somehow he ended up sending mass sms and everyone including Ah Jiang's family, relatives, neighbours, teachers, classmates, fans, enemies etc all called him to inquire. Third time, he finally succeeded but when he tried to put his hand over Xia Tian's shoulder to hug her, his elbow knocked her head and they ended up fighting. He and the school "queen" were at first incline towards each other but with the addition of Xia Tian, a mass triangle evolved. In the future will be misunderstood by friends and even suspected by Xia Tian to be dunno what which cause Xia Tian to be unable to forgive him.

Characteristic: Xia Tian (Qiao En)
Cute,Pure and innocent, sometimes a bit blur, like missing some brain cells like that, so very cute. Her loyalty and humanity does not lose to Ah Jiang. She's a very brave pereson who can protect the girls from bad guys. In other words, she will often use her fist and legs to hit people first and then question later. Thus, she blunders up a lot of times and ended up making mistakes and doing the wrong thing. She doesn't show her weaknesses to others easily and puts up a strong front no matter what. Eg, when Ah Jiang took her home once, when closing the door, her finger got stuck between the door and she just wouldn't shout out in pain and when Ah Jiang asked what the noise was, she still admantly say that there was nothing. Ah Jiang calls her later to say that he really heard the door hitting something but she still refuse to admit and refuse to see the doctor. She ended up anyhow wrapping the wound herself. In the end, she had to go to the hospital as some infection or something happened.

Background:
Police officer Xia's daugher, fourth year in school and in the D class. Her mom left her dad long ago and thus the father-daughter relationship is very good. However, Xia Tian still really wants to know her mom more but her mom's present husband don't like Xia Tian and her mom who lives in Gao Xiong have to take care of her three young kids, thus they only communicate over the phone.

Special:
Will defend Xiao Hui from the "dragon" group of people's bullying. Since young have been at loggerheads with Ah Jiang might have the two of them's childhood scenes). After she fell in love with Ah Jiang, she was in denial but also became jealous of Shu Xiao Han who obviously likes Ah Jiang too.

spoilt brat.proud.rebellious.jealous. even with a lil of evil feeling. rich,very rich
pet phrase:"i buy for you" but he likes to steal if he want that thing for personal use. have stealing habit。stealing for him is just fun，usually after stealing, he would throw it away or give it to people。when his pride come, nothing can beat his way, he must steal soemthing then only he would feel happy. and he would still anything, for instance, he would act like his pet, from crawling, to flying and swimming, he would pass it all. even when he is flirting, he would steal the girl things.

Background:
parents are busy earning money，what they have give him are only things and not family warmth just like a child without any love his childhood was later on told, the reason of why he steal was finally revealed. when Fang Wei was 3，he was misunderstood by his parent that he stole, and he thought by stealing, he could get his parent attention, so he start to steal, slowly, it became his habit, live in the west when he was young after the prosper of his father business then he move out of west side but Fang Wei forever consider West Side as his life territory

likes Xia Tian, and would want to woo her, Ah Jiang would not admit that he like Xia Tian but starts to get panicky and jealous.

Characteristics: Bulu (Meng Zhe)
Bulu is actually a taiwan dialect, it came from a japanese word and the english name is bull. In both taiwan dialect and japanese, bulu means a Bulldog and it is like the very common dog we see in old american cartoons with four short short legs, looking very fierce and acting as guard-dog dog. In reality though, bulldog are actually very gentle although when they are angered, they often start biting and won't let go. The Bulu in the drama is also like that, usually very nice and fair but once he starts fighting, he won't give up. Loves cooking. Aim to enter the "cooking world". Has interest in cleaning his room, doing housework and when he is in a bad mood, he likes to sew. A bit of a anything also can kind of person and often don't care whether he's going to end up losing a not.

Background:
As a baby, he wasn't very fit and his parents were very worried about him dying. Hence,they followed the person in the temple's advice and let Guan Gong(is the buddist one of the "gods") to adopt him. Bulu's parents were really smart and let Bulu be Guan gong's grandson instead of son as he already had a lot of god-son and he definitely can't take care of all of them. As a god-grandson, Bulu will be the only one and thus guan gong will definitely remember him and take care of him the way grandfather dotes their grandchildren. Thus, whenever Bulu goes to the temple to pray to Guan gong and call him grandfather, it will attract the attention of others. Father manages a fighting school and before Bulu even started kindergarten, he was already forced to learn to fight and his father (male chauvinism, fierce, cold that type) was very strict and fierce with Bulu, causing him to fear him. Father and son's greatest disagreement is with the taking over of the fighting school as Bulu wants to be a chef and not take over the school.

"LIFE" named most satisfying summer drama

Oricon has published the results of its quarterly drama satisfaction rankings, and the #1 choice this summer was Fuji TV's "LIFE" at 77.7%. With previous season's "LIAR GAME" having ranked 2nd with 78.5% (and both shows attracting strong viewership ratings), Fuji TV's new Saturday drama time slot is proving to be a success.

The summer's top ten were:

• LIFE (77.7%)
• Papa to Musume no Nanokakan (76.3%)
• Hanazakari no Kimitachi e (75.8%)
• Hotaru no Hikari (75.5%)
• Yamada Taro Monogatari (72.7%)
• Sushi Ouji! (70.0%)
• Yama Onna Kabe Onna (69.2%)
• Tantei Gakuen Q (69.1%)
• Jotei (68.0%)
• Ushi ni Negai wo: Love & Farm (67.8%)

Meanwhile, the pre-season survey for the fall indicates that expectations are highest for "Galileo."
