Fahrenheit Promotes New Album in Hong Kong

Taiwan boy band Fahrenheit (Fei Lun Hai) has arrived in Hong Kong to promote its new music album.

At a celebratory party the same day, members of the band played and showed off their mixology skills as bartenders, to the delight of their fans.

The band said this is the second time they have held a concert in Hong Kong. Though they could meet only 500 fans this time, they expect to organize a larger scale, fan-greeting party in the near future.

2008 Celebrity Military Status



2007 is over, but what will 2008 bring? Many Celebrities will be entering the military, but many will be also be returning, K-Pop fans all over the world will still have much to look forward to. Let's take a look at what to expect this year.

Who's leaving
The first one that will be entering is Chun Jung Myung, who starred in the drama '여우야 뭐하니', as well as his upcoming movie 'Hansel and Gretel'. After gaining lots of attention, he has decided to leave for the army. He ranked in the highest class with his physical exam and is entering the army on the 2nd (which is today in Korea).

Along with Chun Jung Myung, we also covered the story of Gong Yoo being admitted into the army as well. Gong Yoo will be leaving us on the 14th of this month.

Other notable stars are, Shinhwa's Eric and Kim Dong Wan, as well as H.O.T.'s Tony An. Actors Yang Dong Geun, Lee Dong Gun, and Jo Hyun Jae will also be heading out.


Who's returning
Actor Go Soo, will be finishing his two years service sometime in February and singers Kim Jong Gook, Kim Bum Soo, and Jo Sung Mo have begun their 100 days countdown.

1Tym member Oh Jin Hwan has been vacationing from the army and making appearances at Big Bang's concerts, as well as YG concerts. Oh Jin Hwan doesn't have many days left to serve either, and will be returning to his fans very soon.

Former G.O.D. member Kim Tae Woo will also be making his return to the stage sometime during the second half of the year.


Although many stars will be heading off for military duty, 2008 will still be an exciting year as we are sure the returning celebrities will bring new exciting performances, styles and fashions back into the K-Pop scene. This breath of fresh air will leave us with plenty of juicy material to keep all our loyal readers entertained in the new year!

Ayumi Hamasaki deaf in left ear

Fans of pop star Ayumi Hamasaki were surprised on Friday by a post on her fan club website revealing that the singer has gone completely deaf in her left ear.

Hamasaki mentioned that she had her ear checked last year. Her deafness was confirmed, and doctors said her condition was not treatable. The loss of hearing had started as early as 2000, when it forced her to cancel several shows.

Hamasaki said that she will continue her singing career as long as she can still hear with her right ear.

SMAP sets ratings high for Kohaku

Audience ratings for the individual artists at the 58th Kohaku Uta Gassen were announced on Friday. SMAP achieved 43.9%, the highest of the 56 acts that performed on the show. This is their 3rd consecutive year with the highest ratings.

The ratings for the whole show peaked at 46.1% near the end when SMAP sang their hit "Sekai ni Hitotsu Dake no Hana," joined by the rest of the Kohaku performers.

Among the artists, the second-highest ratings came during Yo Hitoto's performance (42.7%), though Masafumi Akikawa, Dreams Come True, and Akiko Wada all came close at 42.2%.

Akira Terao had the best of the first half with 38.3% ratings, followed by Ayaka Hirahara and Kaori Kozai with 36.8% each.

Actor Lee Jun-ki is to be named the goodwill ambassador to China to promote bilateral cultural exchanges. He will receive the appointment at the 2nd World Chinese Merchants Convention in Beijing Friday afternoon.

Lee’s agent reported that Lee has gained a huge following in China thanks to his impressive performance in film “King and the Clown” and TV drama “Time between Dog and Wolf.” Lee is also to award China’s best male and female models at the event and meet with the Chinese minister of foreign affairs on Saturday. Both Taiwan and Japan are simultaneously filming the same series for the first time! A Japanese TV series adaptation from the manga [Honey and Clover] will be airing in January of 2008 while the Taiwanese version of [Honey and Clover] will have Eddie Peng, Joe Cheng, Chang Chun Ning and Ethan Ruan as the cast. The series is planning to start the filming in January 2008; creating a very awkward situation between the 2 countries for having the same story.

The very popular series [Honey and Clover] has the record of selling out more than 100,000 thousand in one day; it has also being adapted into movie too starring Yu Aoi and Sho Sakurai and was well praised by it. Now it has been adapted into a TV series as well starring Toma Ikuta, Narumi Riko and etc.

Next year (2008) will be very awkward; inviting Japanese artist into the cast list
[Honey and Clover] will be about 5 young students studying in an art college. The Japanese version of [Honey and Clover] will be airing on 8th January 2008, may risen up the hype about the story of this series again. According to the Taiwanese version of [Honey and Clover], it has been planning secretly for about 6 months and at the moment the series will be leaded by Eddie Peng, Joe Cheng and etc. The Taiwanese version of the series will also be getting Chiaki Ito one of the members of [AAA] to play the role as Hagumi Hanamoto.

Yesterday the producer of the Taiwanese version of [Honey and Clover] admitted that they are planning to film the series soon but he was not willing to release the cast list at the moment. He only reveals that [Honey and Clover] will be his first experiment in crossing path from movie fields to the TV series. He hopes that he will be able to train more talented actors from the idol series.

The Taiwanese version of [Honey and Clover] was able to received TWD$700,000 financial subsidies from Taiwan’s Government Information Office for the filming production. Huang Zhi Ming said that the series will be starting its shooting the latest before Chinese New Year. The cast list of this series was being highly discussed be the netizen. Huang Zhi Ming refused to comment about the cast list that is being posted in the Internet. He hopes that the cast of the series will be not getting other series during the filming of [Honey and Clover] because the cast are really popular and he hopes the cast will be able to concentrate on this series only.

Based on the understanding, Taiwanese version of [Honey and Clover] will starts filming in the early of 2008; other than making a record for having two countries filming the same series simultaneously, estimate that the Japanese version of [Honey and Clover] will finish airing in April 2008; and that happens to be the time the Taiwanese version to starts airing. Being separated by the ocean but would still be quite awkward.

Oh Ji Ho as a single father



Hard-bodied actor Oh Ji Ho has been cast in his next role — as a single dad, in the KBS2 drama Single Papa in Love.

Oh costars with Kang Sung Yeon, who also appeared in the film The King and the Clown and the drama Let’s Get Married, in the drama about a man raising his son alone after being abandoned by his first love. By day he works as a pest exterminator, by night as a martial artist. The baby momma is played by Kang, a cold and proud woman who left her family to study abroad (ah, the ever-useful plot device!) as a pianist.

Oh Ji Ho’s last drama may have flopped, but he fared well in 2006’s Fantasy Couple. And while there have been plenty of single-mom dramas and movies out there, the single-father angle has been explored much less frequently. Although, given how Oh’s character in Fantasy Couple was very nearly a single father (single uncle, raising three young nephews on his own), perhaps this role won’t seem so unfamiliar after all.

Single Papa will follow Bad Love and airs in February.
