Britney Spears Ordered To Show Up For January Deposition
Pop star has missed four previous deposition dates; judge moves next custody hearing to February.

Kevin Federline's attorney is hoping that the fifth time is the charm.

After failing to get Britney Spears to show up for a deposition four previous times in the singer's ongoing custody battle with ex-husband Federline, attorney Mark Vincent Kaplan convinced Los Angeles Superior Court Commissioner Scott Gordon to order Spears to be deposed in the case in January.

TMZ reports that Gordon ordered Spears to submit to a deposition with Kaplan during the first week of January, though the exact date has not yet been announced. Gordon also postponed a planned custody hearing that had been set to take place January 23, at which Spears' lawyers were expected to petition the court to reinstate her custody rights. If Spears does show up for the January deposition, the next hearing in the custody case will not take place until February 19, which will give Kaplan time to review Spears' testimony about her fitness as a parent. Neither Spears nor Federline were in court for Tuesday's (December 18) ruling.

At the emergency custody hearing on Tuesday, Kaplan also asked Gordon to impose sanctions on Spears in an attempt to "remedy" her deposition-ducking tendencies, which include her failure to appear for a deposition on Wednesday. Spears reportedly called in sick, citing anxiety, though various media reports had her out on the town in Los Angeles that same night visiting gas stations and a hotel.

Due to the delay in the proceedings, Federline will retain primary custody of 2-year-old Sean Preston and 1-year-old Jayden James, while Spears can have court-monitored weekly visits with the boys but will not be allowed to drive with them in light of a series of recent auto-related mishaps.

One of the requests Kaplan reportedly made during the half-hour meeting is that Spears not be allowed to make any requests to change the current custody status until she has been deposed. The couple will reportedly stick to their previously arranged holiday schedule, during which the boys will split Christmas Day between their two parents, and, barring any subsequent drama, the attorneys for each side are expected back in court February 1.

Katherine Heigl Weds Musician Josh Kelley

It's official: Katherine Heigl is a married woman!

The "Grey's Anatomy" star, 29, wed musician Josh Kelley, 27, in a black-tie ceremony Sunday afternoon at the Stein Eriksen Lodge in Deer Valley, Utah. Afterward, her Grey's costar T.R. Knight told Usmagazine.com: "It was incredible. It was beautiful."

Heigl's sister Meg told Us: "It was great."

The 30-minute sunset ceremony, which ended shortly after 5 p.m., took place under a giant white tent in front of more than 100 guests, including "Grey's" costars Sandra Oh, Kate Walsh, and Knight.

The heated wedding tent, dramatically lit by blue-and-purple lighting and decorated in large white drapes, was filled with silver chairs covered with white cushions on a white carpet. The couple wed on an altar flanked by brass candleholders.

Knight was to have served as a groomsman.

Next on the agenda for the couple? "I'm super excited to start a family," Heigl recently told Extra. "I've always wanted a family, a large family. But I say that now!"

The pair met in 2005 when Heigl appeared in the music video for his song "Only You." She gushed to Us: "I met this guy I couldn't imagine living without!"

Kelley popped the question June 19, 2006, with a 3-carat, pear-shaped diamond flanked by pave diamonds. Designed by jeweler Ryan Ryan, the sparkler has sentimental value (half of the platinum band is from her mother's own engagement ring).

Fergie Goes Bridalicious

Wedding bells will ring for Josh Duhamel and Fergie.

The actor's rep confirms to E! News that Duhamel recently popped the question to the Black Eyed Peas singer.

So far, there's no word on a wedding date.

Duhamel, 35, and Fergie, 32 (real name: Stacy Ferguson), have been an item since September 2004. They met when she made a guest appearance on Las Vegas.

The proposal comes after Fergie told Blender earlier this month that she was in no real rush to get engaged because she and Duhamel were "practically married, anyway."

"I'm madly in love with him," she said of her now fiancé. "He understands how to treat a woman and give me respect."

Aside from planning her nuptials, Fergie is working on completing her second solo album, the follow-up to 2006's The Dutchess.

She has also signed on to perform a remix of Michael Jackson's "Beat It" on the upcoming 25th-anniversary edition of Thriller.

Duhamel is currently in his fifth season on Las Vegas. Earlier this year, he starred opposite Shia LaBeouf and Megan Fox in Transformers.

How will Paris Hilton survive?

BY TRACY CONNOR
DAILY NEWS STAFF WRITER

Thursday, December 27th 2007, 4:00 AM

Time to tighten the belt, Paris.

Hotel magnate Barron Hilton announced yesterday that he's leaving 97% of his wealth to charity, dramatically cutting the fortune his children and grandkids will get.

That means granddaughter Paris Hilton, who once stood to inherit $100 million or more by some accounts, could end up with a measly $5 million or so.

"The whole family will be devastated, particularly [Paris' mom] Kathy," a pal of the clan told the Daily News last night.

"Some of them could be likely to contest the will - it'll be in the courts longer than Anna Nicole Smith versus J. Howard Marshall."

Barron Hilton is worth an estimated $2.3 billion, including the $1.2 billion he made from the sale of the Hilton Hotels and Harrah's casino chains.

All but 3% of the money will go into a charitable trust to benefit the Conrad N. Hilton Foundation, which was started by his father, the foundation announced yesterday.

The foundation funds clean water in Africa, education for blind children and housing for the mentally ill.

It doesn't buy jeweled collars for Chihuahuas named Tinkerbell.

Paris - who makes millions a year from her celebrity appearances and endorsements - had no immediate comment on her grandfather's bequest.

There have been conflicting reports about the socialite's relationship with the 8 0-year-old.

Author Jerry Oppenheimer has said Barron Hilton is so embarrassed by Paris' antics - from her sex tape to her drunken-driving bust - that he cut her out of his will.

But other sources have reported that the businessman was so impressed by her money-making abilities that he forked over a big chunk of her inheritance last year.

Although Barron Hilton's plans for his fortune are big-hearted, he wasn't always so charitable.

After his father, Conrad Hilton, died in 1979 and left most of his money to the foundation, Barron sued to get his hands on half the bounty.

Jamie Lynn Spears had affair with older man

Atlanta, GA 12/27/2007 03:31 PM GMT (FINDITT)

According to reports, Casey Aldridge might not be the father of 16-year-old Jamie Lynn Spears’ unborn child. Sources now claim the actress was having an affair with an older man on the set of her show ‘Zoey 101.’

“Casey is being paid off to be the family’s fall guy while the real father remains unidentified,” a source alleges. “The man many suspect is the father, however, would face rape charges and probably prison time if he were to come forward and admit he had sex with Jamie Lynn.”

Nickelodeon is said to be dropping ‘Zoey 101’ because of being unable to hide Jamie Lynn’s pregnancy on screen.

Meanwhile, the Spears family is said to be keeping Jamie away from her older sister Britney Spears. Sources say the girls mother, Lynne Spears, believes Britney will be a “bad influence” on Jamie Lynn as she recently lost custody of her sons to her ex-husband Kevin Federline.

Reel Girl's Best & Worst Movies of 2007
eonline

Best Movie: 2 Days in Paris

Julie Delpy and Adam Goldberg's story of a couple coming undone is an enchanting examination of courtship. Sure, there are splashier, better promoted, bigger budgeted and more grandiose films. But Paris is truly timeless and unique.

Worst Movie: The Golden Compass

If you can take Nicole Kidman, talking polar bears, Sam Elliott, beloved fantasy source material and reportedly $250 million and screw up, you take the cake, the icing and the damn doily, too. A truly amazing feat.

Best Performance: Nicole Kidman in Margot at the Wedding

Nobody likes Margot! Well, people are stupid. Kidman is raw, cold, warm, scary, monstrous, likeable and loathsome all at once. She's a paradox—watching her in a kitchen with Jack Black is no less than spellbinding. So, watch it, already!
dodiana

Best Comedy: Superbad

I'm still deaf from the roar of laughter that overcame the audience when Jonah Hill's character told us about his elementary school artwork. And then you have McLovin'. Thank you, Judd Apatow, for making teens funny again.

Best Crap: Norbit

The waterslide! The Eddie Murphy! Come on. You know you laughed, and you know you wouldn't put it on your highbrow list of best "films" if somebody paid you.

Worst Crap: Good Luck Chuck

Jessica Alba and Dane Cook should give refunds to the few who bought tickets to this absurd, disgusting sex comedy. If anything, it brought unsexy back. Bad movie! Bad!
dodiana

Best Death: Hostel: Part II

Eli Roth wins. The outsider girl's (Heather Matarazzo) undoing begins when she falls for a guy. But it's a woman who finishes her off. Symbolic and bloodycrazygood.

Best Soundtrack: Black Snake Moan

Samuel L. Jackson's grinding cover of the classic blues song "Stack O' Lee Blues" is still one of my most played on iTunes. I'll take this rousing ditty over the funny tunes in Walk Hard: The Dewey Cox Story and the Radiohead-y There Will Be Blood any day. And that's a huge compliment.

Biggest Waste of Time: Rendition

So what if Reese Witherspoon and Jake Gyllenhaal got together on the set of this earnest clunker? Couldn't they have just hooked up through their publicists or something?
dodiana

Most Romantic Comedy: Lars and the Real Girl

Romantic: He (Ryan Gosling) falls for a blow-up doll. Superromantic: His family and friends go with it. Imagination is a beautiful thing.

Least Romantic Comedy: License to Wed

Remember Corey Haim and Corey Feldman's '80s flick License to Drive? Well, compared to this Mandy Moore crapfest, Drive is a heartfelt, thoughtful Woody Allen movie.

Best Sports Movie: The Great Debaters

There's a huge buildup to the huge scene in which believing you can win means everything. Debate is a sport, and director-star Denzel Washington knows it.
dodiana

Best Affleck: Ben Affleck

Casey Affleck rules and all, but when I think Affleck right now, I think Ben. Gone Baby Gone is personal—you can tell it's made by a Bostonian. But it's also invigorating—you can tell a confident director is at work. Congrats, Ben.

Sexiest: No Country for Old Men

The Coen brothers' modern-day western saga isn't a boudoir romance, but the battle of Josh Brolin vs. Javier Bardem is a feast for every bone in every body. The feelings, the regrets, the passion, the absence of passion, oh man. Not to mention that haircut...

Unsexiest: I Know Who Killed Me

Lindsay Lohan can't go out at night and flash her cootchie and then expect people to pay good money to see it. Gross, idiotic and downright stupid. Saving grace: Lohan can never do a movie this repulsive again. Knock on stilettos.

dodiana

Most Overrated: There Will Be Blood

Paul Thomas Anderson movies feature performances that are both majestic (Tom Cruise preaching) and intimate (Mark Wahlberg as the busboy longing for a better life). Blood just doesn't dig that deep. In one ear, out the other, swoosh.

Second-Most Overrated: Juno

Um, it's not Little Miss Sunshine. There. I said it!

Biggest Letdown: Southland Tales

With all the bad buzz from Cannes, I expected to be entertained in the so-bad-it's-good way, but Tales was just plain boring. Justin Timberlake, don't quit your day job as a denim designer or whatever you do.

dodiana

Breakout Guy: Emile Hirsch in Into the Wild

Sean Penn was wise to give Emile Hirsch the job of bringing life to Christopher McCandless. We don't judge him, we actually go with him. And we can thank Hirsch for the exuberant journey.

Breakout Girl: Amy Ryan in Gone Baby Gone

It's not just that she nails the Masshole accent, the clothes, the Southie posture, the drug yearning, the general ADD way of some women. It's that she brings so much heart. The woman is a genius—the new Jessica Lange.

Most Overhyped: A Mighty Heart

Angelina Jolie was never vulnerable—she was doing vulnerability. And the woman is one of the greatest actresses around, so when she hides behind curls, beige outfits and teardrops, it's just plain frustrating.

dodiana

Most Underhyped: Starting Out in the Evening

I cried so hard I had to buy Kleenex. It's poignant and perfect. And yet people don't talk about it—heck, most people haven't even heard of it. Frank Langella, you rule. Academy of Motion Pictures and Sciences, you better notice.

Best Ending: Gone Baby Gone

Good endings follow you into the parking lot, into the car, into your bed and into your dreams. Gone ends better than any other film in '07 does. Obviously, I can't say what happens, but I can say it's subtle, complicated and provocative.

Four days before she filed divorce papers in Marin County, California, on December 21, he was spotted dining on Christmas with a “very young, very attractive” brunette at San Francisco’s Café de la Presse restaurant.

“He seemed nervous and on edge,” fellow diner Rob Seide told Usmagazine.com of the actor. “He didn’t seem very happy.”

Penn originally filed divorce papers in Marin County December 7, his attorney Mindy Ross told Us, but the petition was dismissed December 18.

On December 21, Robin Wright Penn, 41, filed her own request for divorce, citing irreconcilable differences. Penn's divorce papers listed November 30 as the date of their separation; she listed the split date as December 1.

The couple, who have been married for over 11 years, have two kids: Dylan Francis, 16, and Hopper Jack, 14.

“It was bound to happen,” added a source of their split. “He always seemed like a bachelor at heart and the kind of guy who just couldn’t be married for long.”

No Criminal Charge Filed Against Brandy Over Fatal Car Crash

Brandy arrives at the La Dolce Vita Benefit for the Sarah Ferguson Foundation Street on November 1, 2007 in New York City.
Jim Spellman/WireImage.com

Singer Brandy will not face charges by the L.A. City Attorney over her 2006 car accident that left a woman dead, Usmagazine.com confirms.

Frank Mateljan, the city attorney's office spokesman, tells Usmagazine.com:

"The City Attorney’s Office has decided not to file misdemeanor vehicular manslaughter charges against Brandy Norwood in the case stemming from a December 30, 2006 traffic collision.

"After conducting a thorough investigation, which included consulting with some of the top accident reconstruction experts in the country, City prosecutors concluded that there was insufficient evidence from which a jury could find Ms. Norwood guilty of such a charge beyond a reasonable doubt."

On December 30, 2006, Brandy drove her Land Rover into the back of a Honda driven by Awatef Aboudihaj. Aboudihaj's car smashed into a third vehicle before being struck by someone else. Aboudihaj, 38, later died of her injuries.

Brandy was not injured in the crash. There was no evidence that alcohol or drugs were involved.

The singer isn't entirely off the hook yet: She still faces four wrongful-death suits filed on behalf of Aboudihaj's family and another victim of the crash. A trial date is set for January 28.

CALL HATING

When a voicemail left by Alec Baldwin to his 11-year-old daughter, Ireland, was leaked to TMZ.com, people were shocked to hear the 30 Rock star calling her a "rude little pig" and threatening to "straighten your a-- out." Baldwin acknowledged he shouldn't have used that language and later went on The View, saying his anger was the result of "deep and seemingly endless frustration" with someone else (assumed to be ex-wife Kim Basinger).

In a bizarre appearance with a Seattle TV station in January, Paula Abdul slurred, swayed and seemed to talk nonsense to local anchors, who asked her about the American Idol auditions in their city. The ER star blamed his behavior on jet lag and a sleeping pill, saying, "I was not drinking ... I do not have an alcohol problem. I am not David Hasselhoff."

DRAMA OR THEATRE?

The Hills may be deliciously entertaining – but is it real? The blogosphere was abuzz over pictures that popped up in October showing Spencer Pratt dropping off girlfriend Heidi Montag at a Los Angeles airport, then picking her up the same day. Maybe Montag said it best when she told Blender that the drama on her show is "fun to watch, but I’m glad it’s not my life."

E-MAIL ALERT

Denise and Charlie Sheen's custody battle heated up in September when Richards filed court papers accusing Sheen of inappropriate behavior including an "attraction to underage women." Mueller told PEOPLE, "It's a shame that Denise conveniently edited my e-mail correspondence to serve her own interests."

GETTIN' IGGY WITH IT

After giving Iggy, a dog she adopted from the Mutts and Moms rescue agency, to her hairdresser, Ellen DeGeneres got into trouble for violating her adoption contract. The agency then took the dog away from her friend's family, and placed it in another home. "I'm sorry," she said through tears on her talk show. "It's my fault. I shouldn't have given the dog away. Just please give the dog back to those little girls."

Britney's Rocky Year

A NEW START?

A new year and a new set of controversies! Britney Spears reportedly left her
own New Year's party at Pure nightclub after fainting, although her manager
chalked it up to "exhaustion" and not too much alcohol as had been reported.
In the coming weeks, the bad news continued when the singer topped Mr. Blackwell's
worst-dressed list and went out with (and broke up with) Isaac Cohen.

SMOOTH SHAVE

Spears shocked the world when she debuted a bold – and bald! – new look Feb. 16,
after she shaved off her hair at Esther's Haircutting Studio in Tarzana, Calif. While she
smiled for the cameras – and later hit the clubs in shades and a wig – she teared up
and blurted out, "My mom is going to freak," the salon owner told PEOPLE.

CHECKED IN, CHECKED OUT

Just one day after entering Malibu rehab center Promises on Feb. 21, Spears checks
out of the facility "against their advice," and heads for the Bel-Air Hotel. Previously she
had visited Eric Clapton's Crossroads Centre in Antigua but also left there after a day.
Spears later returned to Promises and described the experience as "very humbling,"
writing on her Web site, "I truly hit rock bottom."
