Archuleta Gets DUI -- Daddy Under the Influence

Last night, Simon Cowell lashed out at someone after David Archuleta's performance, and we know who.

A well-placed TMZ spy tells us Simon went after David's dad, Jeff, for the kid's song, "You're the Voice" by John Farnham. Simon said, "I don't think that is you at all and I'd be amazed if you chose the song yourself." Our spy says Simon was blaming the fiasco on daddy dearest, adding, "It's exactly where the gun was being aimed."

As TMZ first reported, Jeff Archuleta is the ultimate nightmare stage dad who was so bad when David was a contestant on "Star Search," he got banned from the lot.

Almost no one even heard of the song David sang. Simon said it sounded like David was singing something at a theme park -- which would make Daddy Jeff a real Dumbo.

Heather Wants More -- $50 Million Not Enough!

And you wonder why everyone thinks she's a gold-digger?

Heather Mills, who was just awarded almost $50 million by a UK judge in her divorce settlement from Paul McCartney, is now looking for even more, says a report in the Daily Mail. She had reportedly told pals that she's getting forensic accountants to pore over Paul's finances, to prove that he's worth more than the court determined he was.

She's also been claiming that she can't support her 3-year-old daughter Beatrice on the nearly $70,000 that she was given just for her care.

Tobey Maguire hot for sci-fi "Afterburn"

LOS ANGELES (Hollywood Reporter) - Tobey Maguire is teaming up with the producer of the "Fast and the Furious" films to bring a new comic book series to the big screen.

"Afterburn," a sci-fi adventure set against the backdrop of a postapocalyptic Earth, revolves around a group of treasure hunters who for the right price extract such objects as the Mona Lisa, the Rosetta Stone and England's Crown Jewels while facing rival hunters, mutants and pirates along the way.

The first issue of the comic book hit stands in January via upstart Canadian publisher Red 5 Comics. Company founders Scott Chitwood and Paul Ens wrote "Afterburn," which is drawn by Wayne Nichols.

Maguire and Neal Moritz will produce the feature version. No writer for the adaptation is on board.

Maguire, who is also producing a live-action adaptation of the anime classic "Robotech," has a cameo in Ben Stiller's August 15 comedy release "Tropic Thunder." Moritz is developing the fourth installment of "Fast and the Furious," which reunites Vin Diesel and Paul Walker, the stars of the first film.

The Times apologizes over article on rapper

A Los Angeles Times story about a brutal 1994 attack on rap superstar Tupac Shakur was partially based on documents that appear to have been fabricated, the reporter and editor responsible for the story said Wednesday.

Reporter Chuck Philips and his supervisor, Deputy Managing Editor Marc Duvoisin, issued statements of apology Wednesday afternoon. The statements came after The Times took withering criticism for the Shakur article, which appeared on latimes.com last week and two days later in the paper's Calendar section.

The criticism came first from The Smoking Gun website, which said the newspaper had been the victim of a hoax, and then from subjects of the story, who said they had been defamed.

"In relying on documents that I now believe were fake, I failed to do my job," Philips said in a statement Wednesday. "I'm sorry."

In his statement, Duvoisin added: "We should not have let ourselves be fooled. That we were is as much my fault as Chuck's. I deeply regret that we let our readers down."

Times Editor Russ Stanton announced that the newspaper would launch an internal review of the documents and the reporting surrounding the story. Stanton said he took the criticisms of the March 17 report "very seriously."

"We published this story with the sincere belief that the documents were genuine, but our good intentions are beside the point," Stanton said in a statement.

"The bottom line is that the documents we relied on should not have been used. We apologize both to our readers and to those referenced in the documents and, as a result, in the story. We are continuing to investigate this matter and will fulfill our journalistic responsibility for critical self-examination."

The story first appeared March 17 on latimes.com under the headline "An Attack on Tupac Shakur Launched a Hip-Hop War." The article described a Nov. 30, 1994, ambush at Quad Recording Studios in New York, where the rap singer was pistol-whipped and shot several times by three men. No one has been charged in the crime, but before his death two years later, Shakur said repeatedly that he suspected allies of rap impresario Sean "Diddy" Combs.

The assault touched off a bicoastal war between Shakur and fellow adherents of West Coast rap and their East Coast rivals, most famously represented by Christopher Wallace, better known as Notorious B.I.G. Both Shakur and Wallace ultimately died violently.

The Times story said the paper had obtained "FBI records" in which a confidential informant accused two men of helping to set up the attack on Shakur -- James Rosemond, a prominent rap talent manager, and James Sabatino, identified in the story as a promoter. The story said the two allegedly wanted to curry favor with Combs and believed Shakur had disrespected them.

The purported FBI records are the documents Philips and Duvoisin now believe were faked.

The story provoked vehement denials from lawyers for Combs and Rosemond, both before and after publication.

Rosemond said in a statement Wednesday that the Times article created "a potentially violent climate in the hip-hop community." His attorney, Marc Lichtman, added: "I would suggest to Mr. Philips and his editors that they immediately print an apology and take out their checkbooks -- or brace themselves for an epic lawsuit."

Although The Times has not identified the source of the purported FBI reports, The Smoking Gun (www.the smokinggun.com) asserted that the documents were forged by Sabatino. The website identified him as a convicted con man with a history of elaborate fantasies designed to exaggerate his place in the rap music firmament. He is currently in federal prison on fraud charges.

"The Times appears to have been hoaxed by an imprisoned con man and accomplished document forger, an audacious swindler who has created a fantasy world in which he managed hip-hop luminaries," the Smoking Gun reported.

Combs' lawyer Howard Weitzman, in a letter to Times Publisher David Hiller, called the story inaccurate. He expanded an earlier demand for a retraction and said he believed that The Times' conduct met the legal standard for "actual malice," which would allow a public figure such as Combs to obtain damages in a libel suit.

The purported FBI reports were filed by Sabatino with a federal court in Miami four months ago in connection with a lawsuit against Combs in which he claimed he was never paid for rap recordings in which he said he was involved. Sabatino, 31, said he had obtained the documents to help him prepare his defense in a criminal case against him in 2002, according to the Smoking Gun.

Philips, a Pulitzer Prize-winning reporter, said he believed in the authenticity of the documents in part because they had been filed in court. But the Smoking Gun's sharply critical review said The Times had overlooked numerous misspellings and unusual acronyms and redactions that could have cast doubt on the documents' authenticity.

Moreover, the documents appeared to have been prepared on a typewriter, the Smoking Gun account noted, adding that a former FBI supervisor estimated that the bureau ceased using typewriters about 30 years ago. The website said its reporters had learned that the documents could not be found in an FBI database.

The website also described unexplained coincidences that made it appear Sabatino had composed the documents from prison. The Smoking Gun showed that Sabatino had filed court papers on his own behalf that had "obvious similarities" in typography and "remarkably similar spelling deficiencies" to those in the purported FBI documents.

The Smoking Gun used a report from Sabatino's sentencing in 2003 for fraud and identity theft to suggest that his history of lying began in childhood. When the boy's mother left home at 11, he told a teacher that his mother had died in an accident, rather than acknowledge the truth, said his father, Peter Sabatino, according to the website. It posted what it said was a letter that the father wrote to the judge.

At the sentencing, the younger Sabatino told the judge that he had been battling a "demon for a very long time" and that his motivation for committing fraud was "to make attention to myself," according to another court document posted by the website. The headline on the Smoking Gun story, over a picture of the picture of the portly Sabatino: "Big Phat Liar."

Philips said in an interview that he had believed the documents were legitimate because, in the reporting he had already done on the story, he had heard many of the same details.

He said a source had led him to three prison inmates who purportedly carried out the attack on Shakur. One of those inmates implicated the planners of the attack and another implied who was involved, Philips said. Two others who said they witnessed the attack corroborated portions of the scenario described in the article, he said. None of the sources were named in the story.

Philips also said the events the sources described fit with previous accounts in the media and even in Shakur's songs.

Still, Philips said he wished he had done more.

Philips said he sought to check the authenticity of the documents with the U.S. attorney's office in New York, which had handled the investigation of the attack on Shakur, and with a retired FBI agent, but did not directly ask the FBI about them. The U.S. attorney's office declined to comment, while the former FBI agent said the documents appeared legitimate, Philips said.

His statement said he "approached this article the same way I've approached every article I've ever written: in pursuit of the truth. I now believe the truth here is that I got duped. For this, I take full responsibility and I apologize."

Philips has spent years digging into the rap music business and had won a reputation as a dogged streetwise reporter. He and Times reporter Michael Hiltzik shared a Pulitzer Prize in 1999 for beat reporting for their accounts of entertainment industry corruption, including illegal detoxification programs for celebrities.

Duvoisin has overseen many of The Times' most notable investigative projects in recent years.

The first significant tip that led to the Shakur story came nearly a year ago, Philips said. He conducted interviews and reported the story in the interim, then focused on the piece more intensively beginning in January.

The story was reviewed by Duvoisin and two editors on the copy desk.

Other investigative stories published by The Times in recent years have in some cases received the scrutiny of at least one more editor and often of the managing editor or editor of the newspaper. The Shakur piece did not receive that many layers of review.

Bob Steele, a journalism values scholar at the Poynter Institute, said he would not pass judgment on The Times' editing process.

"But any time you have a substantive investigative project you need multiple levels of quality control," Steele said. "You need contrarians within the organization who are going to be very skeptical."

The editor of Smoking Gun, Bill Bastone, who shepherded the website's critique, had been an acquaintance of Philips before the Shakur investigation. The two met not long ago for lunch, discussing their mutual passion for investigative reporting and other matters.

Bastone knew The Times would publish a story related to the attack on Shakur, and he said he had immediate misgivings when he saw the piece last week.

He said he called Philips to say "things just don't feel right about this."

Bastone said he "took no joy in doing this," adding, "We greatly respect your paper and Chuck and Chuck's work. . . . But I think what happened here is that this guy Sabatino is a master con man, and they got caught up with him."

Hayden Panettiere Awarded For Trying to
Save Dolphins

Heroes star Hayden Panettiere cried Saturday night as the Humane Society gave her an activism award for protesting the annual dolphin slaughter in Southwestern Japan last year.

Hayden received the Gretchen Wyler Award, given annually at the Genesis Awards to a celebrity who brings attention to animal causes. Wyler, who founded the awards and was also an actress, died last May from breast cancer, two months after presenting the first award to Paul McCartney.

Hayden’s parents and her boyfriend – and Heroes costar – Milo Ventimiglia were in the audience and watched a video of the actress and others paddling out on surfboards and confronting fishermen, who trap and kill dolphins to protect their fish supply. They then gave a standing ovation as Hayden took the stage.

"As an actress, you always dream of getting awards like the Golden Globe award, but I never expected to get an award that is this special and important to me as this," Hayden said through tears. "There are people who dedicate their entire lives to preserving the environment and defending animals, they are so much more deserving of something like this."

After the brief speech, she went straight from the stage to the bathroom for several minutes to regain her composure, and then was escorted back to her seat by Ventimiglia.

Hayden skipped the afterparty, having to return in the morning to shooting the movie I Love You, Beth Cooper. Panettiere stars in the Chris Columbus comedy, being shot in Vancouver.

"She’s an inspiring example to her generation, using her compassion, courage and celebrity to help animals in a very effective way,” said Beverly Kaskey, Senior Director of the Humane Society’s Hollywood Office.

Other celebrity attendees included Emily Deschanel, Eric Roberts, Bill Maher and Anderson Cooper.

Michael Lohan Frowns on Lindsay's Manson Girls Role

Michael Lohan isn't thrilled his daughter has signed on to star in Manson Girls. (She will play one of the murderer's cult followers.)

"I really hope that Lindsay gets back to the kinds of films that led to her success," he told Us Thursday at the Celebrity Apprentice finale in NYC. "I'd like to see her do more mainstream films."

Lohan's past string of films — including I Know Who Killed Me and Bobby — have bombed at the box office. Chapter 27 — her latest movie opening this weekend — centers on the assassination of John Lennon.

Michael told Us those films "were geared to a specific audience."

"When you're the kind of star Lindsay is, you have to appeal to a general audience, not just a specific audience," he added.

Michael also told Us he was relieved those Callum Best sex tape rumors were put to rest.

"You don't know what people put out there anymore!" he said. "So many people have hidden cameras. Our private lives are our private lives — people don't respect that."

Madonna: I Work Out to Britney Spears' Album

Madonna has a surprising choice when it comes to what she listens to while exercising.

"I actually love Britney Spears's new album," she told New York's Z100-FM Thursday. "I usually work out to her record. I do a combination of pilates and dance aerobics."

The singer also explained why she gave Justin Timberlake a shot of B-12 while they were collaborating on her new album, Hard Candy.

"The reason I gave him a B-12 [shot] is because we only had a certain amount of days in the studio and I didn't want him to use that as a lame-a-- excuse not to come to work," she said. "Okay? It's got nothing to do with butt. I promise you. Listen, I don't need to give him a shot to see his butt. Duh."

Madonna – who was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame earlier this month for her 25-year career span – admitted she's sick of some of her earlier music.

"I'm not sure I can sing 'Holiday' or 'Like A Virgin' ever again," she said. "I just can't – unless somebody paid me like $30 million or something. [Maybe if] some Russian guy wants me to come to the wedding he's going to have to a 17-year-old, you know it."

Barack Obama: Brad Pitt "Got the Better-Looking" Genes

Yep, Barack and Brad are indeed related.

"I guess we're ninth cousins removed or something," the Democratic presidential hopeful, 46, confirmed on The View Friday.

"I think he got the better-looking side of the gene pool," he added.

Barbara Walters then told Obama she thought he was "very sexy looking," according to video posted on abcnews.com.

The interview took a serious turn when Obama was asked about the controversial remarks made by his pastor of 20 years, Rev. Jeremiah Wright. (Wright said that the U.S. was responsible for the 9/11 attacks.)

"Had the reverend not retired, and had he not acknowledged that what he said deeply offended people — and mischaracterized what I believe is the greatness of this country, for all its flaws — then I wouldn't have felt comfortable staying there at the church," he said.

Co-host Elisabeth Hasselbeck asked Obama if choosing Wright as his pastor showed a lack of judgment.

"I think he's saddened by what's happen, and I told him I feel badly that he has been characterized just in this way — and people haven't seen the broader aspect of him," Obama said.

As the race for the nomination heats up, he said he can take any punches Hillary Clinton may throw his way.

"You know, I'm pretty tough," he told Joy Behar. "Look, I think the way to handle attacks ... is to answer honestly, swiftly, forcefully and truthfully.

"Truth is a powerful weapon."

Audrina Patridge
Hits Stage With Pussycat Dolls

The Hills' Audrina Patridge got into costume to introduce the Pussycat Dolls at PURE Nightclub in Las Vegas Friday.

"This is the first time I have seen the Pussycat Dolls," Patridge told the crowd. "They are absolutely amazing."

Audrina won raves from Pussycat Dolls founder Robin Antin. "She is so hot," Antin said. "She walked in the room and I said 'Wow, now that's a Pussycat Doll.'"

"Audrina is the ultimate Pussycat Doll," Antin said. "She will be back so you will get another look at that beautiful face. The face of an angel."

Notably absent? A tattoo on Patridge's left arm she had inked on Thursday. It was speculated the tattoo was just a stunt for Ashton Kutcher's Pop Fiction show.

When Patridge signed on to introduce the Pussycat Dolls earlier this month – before topless photos of her surfaced online – she was rumored to have joined the group.

"I don't know where that came from!" she told Us. "I'm going to introduce them one night and that's it!"

Last weekend, Kevin Federline celebrated his 30th birthday with the Pussycat Dolls at PURE.

Dreamgirls Have Seoul

Dreamgirls is coming back to the stage…but not in NYC (just yet)!

The upcoming $10 million revival will be launched in Seoul, South Korea — 6,883 miles away from the great white way.

The Seoul production is being put together by Broadway veterans. It will tour several US cities before landing on Broadway in the 2009-2010 season.

Interesting move, right?

There are a few reasons why the producers chose this path. First, those harsh Broadway critics might not make the trip to Seoul for the premiere run! The producers prob want to work out any kinks without the know-it-alls breathing down their necks.

Second, Korean investors are putting up $4 million. That's almost half the cost.

Smart move!

Coming Soon To Broadway

Ever since Katie Holmes married Tom Cruise, it seems her career has been in the crapper.

It's not like she was such a huge star before Cruise either, but at least she had her fame on Dawson's Creek and a couple of independent films and such. But, she hasn't done much since her marriage, except for the "comedy" Mad Money, which no one saw.

It seems Katie might get another shot at reviving her career, though, by making a stage debut on Broadway.

It is being reported that Katie is in the final negotiation stage to sign on to a revival of All My Sons, a post WWII drama.

Holmes is set to play a woman who visits her former neighbors, the family members of a missing pilot she was in love with.

Already cast in the show are two Broadway veterans, John Lithgow and Dianne Wiest.

This would be Katie's first time performing in a play since high school.

She's bound to sucketh!

One theatre expert said "This play will be like a shop window for Katie. The aim is to remind people of her acting chops. It's kind of a neat idea. Nicole Kidman had Hollywood eating out of her hand when she was in The Blue Room."

Katie won't need to disrobe for her performance in this role, unlike Kidman. But maybe if she did, it'd sell more seats.

Let's hope controlling hubby Cruise will let her take this role. He'll have to go consult with the Scientology heads first to get approval, but it might happen.

Mission Failed

As of this past Wednesday, Fall Out Boy was on track to set the world record for shortest amount of time to play all of the world’s seven continents. The band and their crew made it all the way to Chile and were patiently waiting in their hotel rooms for the greenlight from organizers to proceed to the last continent on their list…Antarctica.

All FOB needed to do to get into the Guinness Book of World Records was play a gig on the continent at the end of the earth by this Thursday.

Unfortunately, the weather in unpredictable Antarctica wouldn't cooperate on Thursday. Conditions there weren't clear enough to allow for the safe arrival of the band and crew.

The band and their management made the tough decision to abort the mission.

FOB's Pete Wentz was utterly shattered by the decision to abort.

He says:

"It's an utter ####### disappointment. … It's so insane. We had this idea, and then to not be able to fulfill it is just disappointing, especially when you put it out there… It's the worst feeling I've felt in Fall Out Boy, [we were,] like, two hours away from being able to do it. … I read someone compared it to Geraldo opening Capone's vault, but it's worse than that, because, like, Capone's stuff is in there, you just can't get the light on. There's no spin for it; we got two hours away from Antarctica and we can't go."

There must be another way to get into the record books!

What should Pete and the boys do???????

Another Strike Looms

Some troubling questions still loom over LaLaLand.

When will the heads of the actors' unions start their talks with the big media moguls about a new contract?

And, can the union leaders painlessly negotiate a good deal for their members?

We're sure no one really wants another strike. The 100-day Writer's Strike cost the local LA economy an estimated $2.5 billion.

The studio suits have urged the unions to kick things off by April 1st.

And, A-listers like George Clooney and Meryl Streep cautiously stepped into the fray by taking out a full page ad in Variety leaders for a speedy resolution.

However, the Screen Actors Guild President Alan Rosenberg and Executive Director Doug Allen don't seem ready to jump in just yet. The leaders have said publicly they will push for an even better deal than the one writers got.

That smells like trouble!!!!

SAG and AFTRA, the two main actors' unions, are meeting this weekend.

We ended up doing over 100 shows around the world and it was so rewarding and again inspiring. Thank you to everyone who came out to see it…memories for life! Great to be home with with all my boys. Feels crazy to be pregnant all over again!!!!! We have been spending every day up in the little studio in our house trying to write music. My favorite part so far is just seeing the guys everyday and hanging out. We have so much fun together. The songwriting part is a bit slow on my part…I think it has something to do with the baby in my belly but I'm sure it is all of the process and I really believe this could be the most inspired No Doubt record so far. Cant wait to see what happens. All my love g"

Quote of the Day

"I've done too many stupid things for there not to be movies made about me when I'm dead, so I might as well write the script."

He's No Reese!

Ryan Phillipe's new movie, Stop-Loss, bombed at the box office in America this weekend.

Disastrously!

The film is on track to take in just a little over $4 million Friday through Sunday.

That must hurt!

The movie 21, on the other hand, did big business. That film, starring Kate Bosworth and Kevin Spacey, is expected to take in a surprising $22+ million.

Six Degrees Of Geri Halliwell

So, we met Geri Halliwell last night.

GERI HALLIWELL!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Of all the places in the world, the artist sometimes known as Ginger was at the Upright Cabaret at Mark's in West Hollywood on Saturday night.

She loves show tunes too! That just makes her that much more of a gay icon!

We instantly hit it off. It was one of those "You had me at hello" moments.

We think we had her when we started singing the lyrics to Mi Chico Latino. Yeah, we have all of Geri's solo albums. They're good, bitches!

It turns out that Miz Halliwell was there with a friend of hers that was one of the dancers on the Spice Girls tour. Her friend is friends with our friend, Broadway diva Pia Glenn, who performed at the Upright Cabaret and KILLED IT.

We had no idea the house would be packed with celebs. We also spotted: Josh Groban, Grey's Anatomy doc Sara Ramirez, Ugly Betty's Michael Urie and Who's The Boss alum Danny Pintauro.

It was such a fun night. We'll definitely do it again soon.

Girl power!!!!!

How Do We Say This Delicately???

Former Disney star Shia LaBeouf is all grown up and showing his scruffy manhood at the Nickelodeon Kids' Choice Awards, in L.A. on Saturday night.

We love him, but….

He needs to shave those pubes off his face!

Maybe he can give them to Brendan Fraser?????

She Can Do Whatever She Wants!

RiRi looked slightly less than perfection on Saturday night at the Nickelodeon Kids' Choice Awards in Los Angeles.

But, who cares????

It's Rihanna!!!!!!

It must have been a bit awkward on the red carpet for the new Princess of Pop (sorry Britney fans). Both RiRi's current flame, Chris Brown, AND rumored ex-boyfriend, Shia LaBeouf, were also there!

Headline of the Week Weak

HEATH Ledger's family believe the late actor may have fathered a secret love child.

Ledger was a 17-year-old schoolboy when he had an affair with an older woman who is thought to have only discovered she was pregnant after their relationship ended.

The woman was living with another man at the time of the alleged affair.

Yesterday, Ledger's uncle, Hadyn Ledger said: "There is a very real possibility that Heath was the father."

If it is confirmed that Ledger is the girl's biological father, it could split his multi-million dollar estate between his two-year-old daughter Matilda Rose with Hollywood actress Michelle Williams, and his secret love child.

Ledger, who died alone in his New York apartment in January from an accidental overdose of prescription drugs, drew up his will before the birth of Matilda, on whom he doted.

The April 2003 will lists only $145,000 in assets and names the late actor's father, Kim, mother Sally Bell, sister Kate Ledger and half sisters Olivia Ledger and Ashleigh Bell as the only beneficiaries. The New York documents also acknowledge Matilda Rose, as Ledger's only known child, as an interested party.

Heath was still at school at Guildford Grammar when he began the affair with the woman, then aged 25.

Yesterday another family source said: "She had the baby. Everyone lived under the assumption that she was the daughter of the mother's boyfriend and that is how she has been brought up." The woman is now married with a young family.

Ledger's death has exposed the bitter rift in the family between father Kim and his estranged brothers, Haydn, Mike and Wayne.

The family feud began when Kim became executor of their grandfather, Sir Frank Ledger's estate over 20 years ago. He borrowed heavily against the $2 million estate, leaving it heavily in debt before he was removed as executor by the WA Supreme Court in 1994.

Actors Fighting With Actors

Things are not looking well.

We may have another strike on our hands!!!

As the actors' agreements with the big media moguls is set to expire this summer, a very unpleasant development occurred this weekend.

Both of the main actors' unions, SAG and AFTRA, decided to sever all ties.

Each union will now negotiate separately with the studios and big media meanies.

The bad blood between both unions has boiled over and the mudslinging has begun!

"For the past year SAG leadership in Hollywood has engaged in a relentless campaign of disinformation and disparagement," AFTRA president Roberta Reardon said in a written statement.

SAG President Alan Rosenberg's written response: "AFTRA's refusal now to bargain together with us and their last-second abandonment of the joint process is calculated, cynical and may serve the interests of their institution, but not its members."

The AFTRA board said the vote to terminate the agreement, known as "Phase One," was "overwhelming."

Why can't we all just get along????

There's strength in numbers!

The Alliance of Motion Picture and Television Producers, which represents studios, said in a statement that it looks forward to bargaining with AFTRA. It did not mention SAG.

Television and the local L.A. economy can't afford another strike!!!!

A Charming Reunion

She may hate all her Beverly Hills co-stars, but Shannon Doherty has love for Holly Marie Combs.

The former Charmed co-stars met up at Nobu in Malibu on Saturday night to catch up on old times. Emphasis on the old.

Doherty left Charmed in 2001 after reports of tension on the set. That's her modus operandi!

Alyssa Milano probably hates that skank, and that's why we love her!

Nicole or Mary-Kate????

Mary-Kate Nicole Richie was spotted spending some "me" time this weekend.

The new mom was at the Chateau Marmont on Saturday, looking very Olsen-like.

Even when taking some time for herself, Momma Nicole has little Harlow on her mind. Richie was seen bringing home some Fred Segal baby clothes for her baby daughter.

We gotta see Harlow out and on display about more often!

P.S. Suri Cruise is still keeping it lo pro.

THAT FACE!!!!

Her thinning hair!!!!

Lara Flynn Boyle used to look somewhat normal back in the day. This past weekend, though, she looked like the bride of Michael Jackson on an outing for din din to Mr. Chow's in Beverly Hills.

This is a warning to all you ladies out there: don't #### with your face!

Welcome To LA

Yipes!! If you think you hate the travails of traveling then take a look at this poor pic of Kate Moss arriving at LAX Airport this weekend as she was met by a crush of photogs and gawkers alike:

The poor woman was pinned between an ass and a hard place. If I ever start feeling bad for my traveling situation in the future I will think back on this picture and thank my lucky stars that I'm not Kate Moss. Sad face.

Gym Rat

Big pimpin' Jayden James Federline Spears spent part of his weekend chillin' with his posse (comprised of his bodyguard and his nanny) at his friendly neighborhood My Gym Friday afternoon lookin' like a champ. Here are a couple pics of the little tyke, who was also rockin' a rad pair of red Crocs shoes (which, it pains me to admit, don't look so horrrible on young'ns):

I'm not entirely sure why Sean Preston doesn't get in on the My Gym action with his little bro but maybe he's got his own peeps to chill with and doesn't want to be bothered. We haven't heard of any visits with mommy Britney Spears in some time now ... but I'm fairly certain things are going well on that front. I must admit, it's so entirely refreshing to not be inundated with tragic Britney Spears news and to see nice, normal pics of her kids just ... living their happy little lives. I just couldn't be more pleased that things appears to be steadily on track for Britney and her boys ... I always knew that the good would win out over the bad.

What A Way To Make A Livin'

Country music icon Dolly Parton was joined by Broadway stars Megan Hilty, Stephanie J. Block and actress Allison Janney for the CTG/Ahmanson Theatre preview of 9 to 5: The Musical which was held at the House of Blues here in LA last night ... here are a few pics:

OMG ... this is so exciting! As you may recall, I was recently able to interview Megan Hilty about her upcoming role as Doralee Rhodes in the 9 to 5: The Musical and now the first official promo events are taking place. The show will open here at the Ahmanson Theater in September before it makes its Broadway debut next year. Broadway World posted video HERE of Dolly from yesterday's HoB preview event. I simply cannot wait to see this musical. I'm all about amazing pop culture stories making the transition to Broadway (ie. Xanadu, Legally Blonde) so clearly I'm very much looking forward to seeing this show. Dolly is a genius, I know she has put together a soundtrack that will set the musical on fire. Woot! This is great news ... it won't be long before we're able to see 9 to 5 live on stage.

John Mayer Speaks From the Heart

John Mayer blogged one of his more well thought out entries, telling others to feel good about themselves and be kind to others. Here’s what the 30-year-old musician had to say:

“I need to write this.

I’ve been traveling alone in Japan for the better part of three weeks now, and It’s been so remarkable an experience for me that I can’t book a ticket home yet. I haven’t spoken very much out loud these days, but I’ve been thinking to myself in what feels like surround sound. I can see so many things clearly, and feel so connected to myself and the world around me that I need to share the perspective with you.

I’m already aware that when I sing, say or write anything, 50 percent of the response will be in support of it and the other 50 will want to discount it. This blog, though, is directed to 100 percent of people reading it. If my blog truly does have any cultural effect, then it should be used for more than just pictures of sneakers and funny youtube videos. (If you don’t think my blog has any effect, than you can’t by definition be reading this right now and therefore don’t have to respond to it in any way. Isn’t that tidy?)

What I’m about to write isn’t about fame or success or celebrity or the media. That’s my business.

This is about us all.

This is about a level of self consciousness so high in my generation, that it’s actually toxic.

This is about the girl in her bedroom who poses in front of the camera she’s awkwardly holding in her outstretched hand. She’ll take a hundred photos until coming up with one she’s happy with, which inevitably looks nothing like her, and after she’s done poring over images of herself, will post one on her myspace page and then write something like ” I don’t give a f*** what you think about me.”

This is about the person trying out for American Idol, who while going off about how confident they are that they were born ready to sing in front of the world, are trembling so badly they can hardly breathe.

This is about me, the guy who walks through a throng of photographers into a restaurant like he’s Paul Newman, but who leaves a “reject” pile of clothes in his closet so high that his cleaning lady can’t figure out how one man can step into so many pairs of pants in a week.

This is about a young guy who maintains a celebrity blog that subsists on tearing other people down but who has wrestled with a lifelong battle for acceptance as a gay man.

This is about us all. Every one of us. Who all seem to know deep down that it’s incredibly hard to be alive and interact with the world around us but will try and cover it up at any cost. For as badass and unaffected as we try to come off, we’re all just one sentence away from being brought to the edge of tears, if only it was worded right. And I don’t want to act immune to that anymore. I took the biggest detour from myself over the past year, since I decided that I wasn’t going to care about what people thought about me. I got to the point where I had so much padding on that, sure, I couldn’t feel the negativity, but that’s because I couldn’t feel much of anything. And I think I’m done with that.

I’m not the first person to admit we’re all self conscious, Kanye [West] was. But what I want to do is to shed a little light on why we’re all in the same boat, no matter the shape of the life we lead: because every one of us were told since birth that we were special. We were spoken to by name through a television. We were promised we could be anything that we wanted to be, if only we believed it and then, faster than we saw coming, we were set loose into the world to shake hands with the millions of other people who were told the exact same thing.

And really? Really? It turns out we’re just not all that special, when you break it down. Beautifully unspectacular, actually. And that truth is going to catch up with us whether we want to run from it or not. The paparazzo following me to the gym ain’t gonna be Herb Ritts and the guy he’s following ain’t gonna be Bob Dylan. It’s just a matter of how old you are once you embrace that fact. And for me, 30 sounds about right.

What now, then? I can only really say for myself: Enjoy who I am, the talents and the liabilities. Stop acting careless. In fact, care more. Be vulnerable but stay away from where it hurts. Read. See more shows. Of any kind. Rock shows, art shows, boat shows. Create more art. Wear hoodies to dinner. Carry a notebook and hand it to people when they passionately recommend something and ask them to write it down for me.

Root for others.

Give more and expect the same in return, but over time.

Act nervous when I’m nervous, puzzled when I don’t know what the hell to do, and smile when it all goes my way. And never in any other order than that.

And when it’s all over, whether at the end of this fabulous career or of this life, which I hope takes place at the same time, I should look back and say that I had it good and I made the most of it while I was able. And so should you.

I’m going quiet now.

John“
