Nic Cage Sues Kathleen Turner for Claiming He Stole a Chihuahua

On Friday, Nic Cage’s attorney began libel proceedings against Kathleen Turner at London’s High Court.

Cage, 44, is suing Turner, his former Peggy Sue Got Married co-star, 53, for writing in her new autobiography Send Yourself Roses that the actor was busted for two DUIs and once stole a Chihuahua.

Turner writes, “He caused so many problems. He was arrested twice for drunk-driving and, I think, once for stealing a dog. He'd come across a chihuahua he liked and stuck it in his jacket.”

But in a statement issued last month, Cage fired back: "I have never been arrested for anything in my life, nor have I stolen a dog.”

Cage's lawyer tells New York's Daily News, "If he doesn't get a retraction, he intends to go full speed ahead with litigation in the U.S."

Britney Spears Teaches Children at Dance Class

Britney Spears taught dance to children not much older than her own boys on Monday at Millennium Dance Complex in North Hollywood.

The pop star — who skipped the Grammys — kicked off the class by introducing herself to each five year old and shaking their hand, a source said. “She comes in, she winds them up, and then tells them, ‘I guess I have to introduce myself to you guys!’” said Robert Baker, Millennium co-owner.

Britney looked happy and upbeat, he said. Madonna’s “Material Girl” and “True Blue” were part of her play list. Britney led the class in “her favorite brown cowboy boots, fishnet stockings, a red short skirt, and a bluish greenish top that hangs down past her skirt.”

“She worked out this great little routine for them, they were dancing all over the place, she had them dancing in a circle like a choo-choo train,” he said. “The kids loved it- they are having a ball right now. And Britney- she’s just drinking it up. She’s totally enjoying herself. It’s an amazing class- she and the kids are certainly enjoying the process.”

Parents for the seven kids waited outside while she taught. A little girl, who took the class, gushed, "We had so much fun. Britney was wearing little red shorts and she looked so pretty” as she and her mother headed to their car.

She last saw her sons, Sean and Jayden, on January 3 when she was rushed to Cedars-Sinai for a psychological evaluation. Her visitation rights were suspended soon after. Less than a month later, Britney was involuntarily committed for 10 days to UCLA Medical Center for treatment of bipolar disorder. She has been a staple at the studio since she was released Wednesday, Feb. 6.

“Britney’s telling me that she likes this so much that she’s thinking about making it a regular thing, possibly every other week. She loves to interact with the kids, and she feels that it’s important to give back to the dance community,” Baker said.

"We've actually been talking," the Hannah Montana star, 15, told Us at the Official Grammy Talent Gift Lounge in L.A. over the weekend.

"She's now really excited, so I'm proud of her," Cyrus told Us of Spears.

"I think she's done the best she can," Cyrus added.

Vince Vaughn: “I Definitely Would” Work With Jennifer Aniston

Vince Vaughn says he’d work with ex Jennifer Aniston again.

“Yeah I would, I definitely would. She’s great!” he said on local Minneapolis station KS95 Greg and Melissa’s Morning Show Friday.

“I think the world of Jen,” he added. “She’s a great actress, so you never know.”

When the hosts pointed out they had “great chemistry,” Vaughn said, “I appreciate it, thank you.”

Seems Vaughn also has good chemistry with Reese Witherspoon: The two get it on in a bathroom stall in their upcoming romantic comedy Four Christmases.

What's it like smooching Vaughn?

When they shoot scenes, “the top of my head hits his armpit, so I drag my apple box around,” Witherspoon admitted over the weekend at a junket for her new movie Penelope.

“I have an apple box and a platform that I drag around with me and stand on it.”

Britney Brings About New Paparazzi Law

A bra-less Britney Spears shops at Miss Sixty with her mom Lynne on Tuesday in Los Angeles.

According to Access Hollywood, a new law is being proposed to protect Britney from the paparazzi.

“[It cost] $25,000 dollars to take an ambulance with Britney Spears to the hospital,” Councilman Dennis Zine said. “Tax payers paid for that. It is not going to be called the ‘Britney Spears Law,’ I am not going to give her credit for that because it is not about Britney Spears, it’s about the paparazzi violating everybody else’s rights, freedoms, and privileges.”

Added Zine, “What the paparazzi have done is developed a lawless society where the rules don’t apply — on the wrong side of the street, jumping out of cars at the red lights, swarming the car, you don’t do that… “If we think back a few years, Princess Diana was driving down the road, paparazzi chasing. A crash occurred, Princess Diana died. I don’t want to see that happen here in Los Angeles.”

Will Ferrell Dunks on Heidi Klum

Supermodel Heidi Klum teams up with comedian Will Ferrell for the Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Issue.

Ferrell and Klum had a basketball theme to promote his new film, Semi-Pro, out Feb. 29. (Ferrell plays 1970’s basketball team owner/coach/player, Jackie Moon.) Here’s a bit from SI’s interview with Ferrell:

When you and Heidi got together for the Swimsuit shoot, the atmosphere seemed … Hot! Yeah, she’s a wildcat. Pretty much every shot came down to one of us trying to get the other’s pants off. The one where I’m biting her — can I say A-S-S? — that was one of the craziest moments. She told me, ‘You need to just bite my ass.’ I was kind of mimicking, half-doing it, so she stopped and said, ‘No! Really bite it!’ It was one of the most surreal moments in my entertainment life.

How did Mrs. Ferrell feel about that? My wife is incredibly accepting of all these things. She just rolled with it. She came by the shoot and walked in right at the moment when I was biting Heidi’s butt. Heidi felt slightly self-conscious for a second — and then she went right back into it.

Natalie Portman - “W Magazine” March 2008

Natalie Portman shows her support for permitting gay marriage and Democratic presidential candidate Hillary Clinton in the March 2008 issue of W Magazine.

On equality for all in marriage: “I’m into monogamy. But I’m not really into marriage right now. I sort of hate the legal aspect of it. What does the state have to do with it? Why are they making rules that say my lover can stay in the United States if they’re foreign or share my health care benefits because I’m straight—but if you’re gay, you can’t have that?”

On being impressed by Hillary Clinton: “I met with about 10 representatives that day and Hillary was by far the sharpest. Did you read Gloria Steinem’s op-ed piece? Hillary’s just so experienced.”

On the impression she gives off in her public profile: “The only thing that’s a little bit annoying, is I feel that I come off kind of boring sometimes.”

On why she’s super-picky about the movie projects she chooses: “As an actor, you have to respect your position and know that you are fulfilling someone else’s vision. Mike Nichols always quotes Mamet’s line: ‘Film is a collaborative business: bend over.’”

Scarlett Johansson - “W Magazine” March 2008

Scarlett Johansson continues to talk up polygamy, tabloid magazines and her support for Democratic presidential candidate Barack Obama in the March 2008 issue of W Magazine. Here’s what she had to say:

On humans being polygamous by nature: “I’ve been battered for saying that I don’t believe humans are monogamous by nature. The response was, like, ‘What a ho-bag!’ I didn’t mean that I don’t practice monogamy in my own life—of course I do! I’m not going to be in some tarty relationship. But I stick by what I said. I remember another time, I said I get tested for AIDS twice a year, and again that got spun as me being promiscuous. But I was single at the time, and I think it’s important to do that!”

On her disgust for tabloid trash: “You’re never going to find me at the Ivy. I don’t care how good the Cobb salad is. These tabloid magazines—I think they’re hideous and the downfall of society.”

On supporting Barack Obama: “I will continue stumping for Obama until he’s elected. The past eight years have been painful for a lot of people. We’re in a state of emergency.”

On the absurdity of gay marriage being against the law: “It’s so archaic. It’s just, like, bizarre to me. I feel like in 10 or 15 years’ time our children are going to look back and say, ‘What? You were around when gay people weren’t allowed to get married?’”

Scarlett Johansson and Natalie Portman talk up their new film The Other Boleyn Girl on The Today Show on Tuesday morning.

Natalie, 26, addressed how unusual it is to team up two of Hollywood’s elite young actresses: “That’s why I was so excited to do it. It’s so rare to get to work with someone you admire so much and who is in your same age range. It’s such a great opportunity to get to see how this actress that you love works up close. I got to watch how she prepares and got to have her as a scene partner.”

Scarlett, 23, reciprocated the sentiment: “I came to the project originally because Natalie was attached to it and I desperately wanted to work with her. I’d been a fan for so long and how many opportunities do you have?”

Hayden Christensen attends the premiere of his new sci-fi flick, Jumper, at the Ziegfeld Theater on Monday in New York City.

Two reviews have popped up so far for Jumper–both say the movie’s a mess.

KSO: “A movie about wormholes made from a script riddled with more holes than Hillary Clinton’s campaign strategy.” —

VTD: “Jumper features some good action scenes but suffers from a screenplay that feels like major plot points have been axed. The result, often, is a confused mess.”

Ouch! Jumper opens in theaters nationwide on Thursday, Valentine’s Day!

Naomi Gets Glamourous to Talk Boys and Babies

Naomi Watts got all done up for this month's issue of Glamour. On top of modeling a chic Chanel number, she was surprisingly open about her romance with Liev and the trials of being a new mom at the age of 39. We know she's excited to give little Alexander a sibling, but my favorite part may be hearing how when she met her man she was the one doing the picking-up. Here's more:

* How she met Liev: Friends had been trying to hook us up for years, but the timing was never right. Then I ran into him at the Metropolitan Museum of Art’s Costume Institute gala [in 2005], and we spent the whole night talking and flirting. At some point I thought, This night’s going to end and I might never see him again. So I said, in a cheeky way, “Don’t you want my digits?” I can’t tell you why; in the past, I would never have done that. If I was even remotely interested in a guy, I would ask for his number first. That way, I could find out more about him on my terms. Literally, within seconds after [Liev] left, he texted me his number. I think he liked that I was a bit aggressive.

* On working around her family: So far, we’ve been quite lucky: We’re coming up on three years together and we’ve only spent three weeks apart at the most. All throughout the pregnancy, Liev was here doing a play, and once the baby was born, we all went to Lithuania while he filmed Defiance.

Mischa Barton's Laid Back Damage Control

Mischa Barton was showing off some perfectly coifed hair to go with her summery white dress grabbing lunch with her mom at the Ivy in LA yesterday. Seems like the perfect place for Mischa to see and be seen (of course wearing her favorite cross necklace). Miss Barton's post-DUI damage control has been pretty much all about the photo ops and swag scoring, which has somehow managed to keep her from checking herself into rehab (either on her own or being told to) like so many of her cohorts. I suppose well-played for her, but hopefully she still learned a lesson from her run in with the law. Sigh, do they ever?

Isla's a Shopaholic With a Warm Olive in a Bag

Isla Fisher was looking fabulous as Becky Bloomwood on the set of Confessions of a Shopaholic in NYC yesterday. Seeing her in character is getting us so excited to see this book come to life on the big screen but in the meantime, we're going to coo over precious Olive. Her little Ugg boot/sack/cozy jacket thing is easily one of the most adorable baby accessories ever, not to mention incredibly comfy looking. As for Isla, she's just busy making us laugh. In an interview to promote Definitely, Maybe, she was asked about her recent success and Isla's response was, "Oh, I always thought I'd be living in Hollywood, in a seven-bedroom house with a massive swimming pool. It's just that when I imagined it, I always thought I'd be the maid." Isla seems to fit in with her glamorous life pretty well, but we just hope that she sticks with comedies since funny leading ladies are hard to find these days.

Lohan Fights For Her Music

Lindsay Lohan went heavy on the bronzer and blush to run around LA doing "errands" (read: being photographed) yesterday afternoon. Ah LL, it feels like your shenanigans never left. Not only was she all over town in some tiny dresses this weekend, but she was apparently fighting in public with Paris Hilton. Feels like old times, only this time the tiff was about both girls wanting to collaborate with Timbaland. Relax ladies, he seems to have time to work with everyone these days. While it sounds like LL is excited for the world to listen to that new album she's working so hard on, she also just lent her ear modeling skills to the Hear the World initiative to raise awareness about the hearing impaired. She may be back to the nightlife, but at least she's still taking time to show us her heart's in the right place.

Hilton to Stay Behind Bars?

Is Barron Hilton going to stay behind bars for awhile?

Maybe.

I’m told the hotel heir’s parents, Kathy and Rick, may not bail out the 18-year-old younger brother of Paris and Nicky because they think spending some time locked up will teach him a lesson.

“It’s the tough love thing,” a source said. “They don’t want to put up with this stuff anymore.”

No official word from the Hilton clan, but as of right now Barron (above, with Paris in December) is being held on $5,000 bail. He was booked at the Lost Hills Sheriff Station in Malibu.

I'm told Kathy is at home and Rick is at his office.

Inside Jennifer Aniston's Birthday Bash

All work and no play? Not exactly. But Jennifer Aniston spent her 39th birthday toiling away on the Vancouver set of her upcoming romantic drama, Traveling.

Still, the actress did receive a special treat from her cast and crew on Monday. They surprised the Birthday Girl with a "giant ice cream cake," says a source. "The crew all gathered around and sang a rousing rendition of 'Happy Birthday.' [There were] hugs and kisses for everyone, from everyone."

Good wishes also poured in from far-away friends, as several large flower arrangements were also delivered to her trailer.

Two days earlier, Aniston had a chance really to cut loose, when she and 20 friends – including Traveling director Brandon Camp – took over the private room of Cioppino's Mediterranean Grill for a lively dinner party.

Custom-made Cake
"Everyone ordered so many dishes," an observer says of the group, which tucked in to the restaurant's signature "Cucina Naturale" cuisine (emphasizing fresh ingredients while minimizing the use of animal fats and creams). "They tried everything. They were just having such a good time."

As the meal wound down, the restaurant presented Aniston with a custom-made birthday cake. "When it was wheeled out from the kitchen by several staff, everyone started to sing 'Happy Birthday' to Jennifer, including people from the kitchen," says the witness. "Jennifer looked a little surprised, but it was her birthday party, after all."

As the party played on until 2:30 a.m., "she had a big smile," says the onlooker. "She had a really good time with all of her friends – and seemingly didn't want the evening to end."

Mel Gibson Completes DUI Probation Terms

Mel Gibson completed the probation requirements from his DUI arrest, with the judge telling him Wednesday: "Now, you're on your own."

"Good luck to you as you continue on your rehabilitation," Superior Court Judge Lawrence Mira said, according to L.A.'s City News Service.

"Thank you, your honor," Gibson replied.

Gibson, 52, was escorted into the Malibu courthouse by sheriff's deputies through a back door to avoid a crush of photographers.

Gibson pleaded no contest in August 2006 to a misdemeanor charge of driving with an elevated blood-alcohol level and was sentenced to three years probation. He was spared jail time but required to attend Alcoholics Anonymous meetings

Gibson was pulled over shortly after 2 a.m. in July 2006. He reportedly made anti-Semitic comments during his arrest, for which he later issued an apology.

Although Gibson completed the terms of his probation, he still technically remains on probation for another 18 months.

Wolverine Movie: First Picture!

Here is the very first picture of Hugh Jackman in the new X-Men spin-off movie, Wolverine.

“I know it seems odd given, you know, the guy is already half animal,” Hugh tells USA Today. “But with all the success of the X-Men, you feel the pressure to keep pushing it further.”

Wolverine will be a prequel to the X-Men movies and show a more vulnerable side to the superhero.

“I think one of the reasons the X-Men took off is that it connected in a way nobody saw,” Hugh adds. “They’re mutants with powers. But they’re also outcasts for being, and everyone connects with that on some level. And who wouldn’t want the power to get back at the people who ostracized you?”

Hugh also mentioned that Wolverine’s nemesis Sabretooth “is going to play a big part in it. And there will be a good bit of cameos [of new and familiar mutants]. But you can’t give too much away, because fans are pretty hard-core. Their expectations go up a level every time you come out with a new film.”

Wolverine slashes its way into theaters on May 1, 2009.

Michelle Williams - “Wonderland” Issue #12

Michelle Williams was interviewed by Wonderland magazine before the death of Heath Ledger. Here’s what she had to say:

Did you go to Katie Holmes’ wedding?
Everybody wants to know that. No, I didn’t go because I was working on The Tourist. To be honest, we’re not really in touch.

How has becoming a mother changed you?
I feel like I didn’t have any relationship with my body before Matilda. Well I did, but it was just a bad one. After having my daughter I can’t judge myself in the same way. My body has done this totally miraculous but utterly ordinary thing. The downside is that my vocabulary has shrunk to the size of a pea. Since having a kid I just don’t have the same access to the world. I don’t see as many shows, I don’t go to many movies and I hardly read any books anymore. I’m lucky to make it through a book a month. So you start to develop in a much more non-verbal way, which can be so frustrating. Also there’s been a lot going on in my personal life and part of me is… I don’t know. I shouldn’t talk about it but it’s like I’m re-emerging back into the world or something.

Would you describe yourself as vain?
I have insecurity masquerading as vanity. I don’t think I’m vain as an actress but I’m probably more so as a person. Again, it goes back to that thing about when I’m working is the only time when I don’t judge myself. I feel totally open to exploring all the sides of my physical self in my work. While I’m working I really don’t give a f— how I look. Afterwards, if I have to watch it, I might have some problems.

What’s the day ahead hold for you? I’m going to pick Matilda up from school at 11:30 and she’ll take a nap. I might join her because tonight I’m doing hospital rounds in preparation for the film Mammoth. It’s Lukas Moodysson’s first English language film. I play a New York City trauma surgeon so I’ve been trailing a doctor for a few months. We’re going to step it up tonight and go to Elmhurst hospital in Queens, which is a top-level trauma hospital. The whole experience has been such an eye-opener. The first time I did it, I had this weird sensation where I thought, ‘Oh f—, I’ve missed my calling’. The sense of purpose made me wish I’d become a doctor.

Kirsten Dunst's Split With Jake Gyllenhaal Caused Her to Party

When news broke last week that Kirsten Dunst had checked into rehab, fans were surprised because she is a respected Hollywood vet, but those who knew her were familiar with her partying ways.

Some Dunst pals even suspect her 2005 split from three-year beau Jake Gyllenhaal led to her wild ways.

"Jake was turned off by all the partying," a source tells Us Weekly in its latest issue. (Dunst's rep says that is "downright wrong.")

Ironically, multiple sources told Us that regret over the breakup led her to party more – and use cocaine and alcohol. (Counters her rep, "She is not being treated for cocaine or any drug.")

"Whenever the cast and crew were out, she was the center of the group – doing shots and encouraging everyone to drink," a source on her upcoming movie How to Lose Friends & Alienate People told Us. "There was no such thing as 'just the one' for her."

Dunst will remain at the Cirque Lodge Treatment Center in Utah "as long as she needs," a pal told Us.

Jane Fonda: Hype Over Using the C-Word "Is Silly"

Put away that bar of soap.

Jane Fonda doesn't understand the ruckus made over her using the "c-word" on Thursday morning's Today show.

"The first time that I knew about The Vagina Monologues, I was asked to perform that particular monologue in Atlanta, and so I just happened to say the name of it," she told Us at V-Day's 10th Anniversary Party sponsored by Grey Goose in NYC last night.

"I didn't even think," Fonda, 70, added. "I'm sorry if I offended anybody ... I think it's pretty silly."

Fonda had been chatting with anchor Meredith Vieira about the 15th anniversary of The Vagina Monologues when she let the word slip.

Vieira later issued an apology.

"We were talking about The Vagina Monologues and Jane Fonda inadvertently said a word from the play that you don't say on television," Vieira said. "It was a slip and obviously she apologizes, and so do we. We would do nothing to offend the audience. So please accept that apology."

Rachael Ray "Too Tired" to Have Kids

Rachael Ray won't be starting a family anytime soon.

"I'm too tired," Ray, 39, says in a new interview with Extra. "I feel like I’m a bad mom to my dog... I have five jobs, and I just don’t think I could take on the biggest job of being a parent."

She also brushed off recent tabloid reports that she's had plastic surgery.

"I really laughed at the one that said I had a brow lift," she says. "Do you really think if somebody gave me a week off I would spend it under a knife and if I was going to cut something off, don't you think it'd be my butt and not my forehead?”

For now, Ray is content with her looks, she says, as well as her marriage to entertainment lawyer John Cusimano.

"The first couple of times I got angry and then I got upset and now I just laugh," Ray says of rumors they're having marital trouble. "I mean, what else are you going to do?"

Paris Hilton Under Investigation for Owning 17 Dogs

Paris Hilton has a pet problem.

The Los Angeles Department of Animal Services visited the heiress' home earlier this week to investigate a complaint about her owning 17 dogs, TMZ reports.

By law, a non-breeder in L.A. is only allowed to own three dogs per address.

A Department of Animal Services spokesman said that Hilton - or her pets - were not home when they visited, according to TMZ.

The critically panned Hottie and the Nottie star, 27 — who has been in Las Vegas celebrating the launch of her Paris Hilton Collection — admitted she owned all the pooches on The Ellen DeGeneres Show Monday.

"I have 17 dogs — lots," she said. "They all sleep in my bed - well, not all of them, but I let some of them."

Hilton said she has so many dogs because "they keep having babies, and I feel bad about giving them away."

When DeGeneres asked Hilton why she didn't just get the dogs neutered, she said that they all now were "fixed," but later added, "well, two of them weren't."

Ryan Reynolds: Practice Your Verbal Judo

Ryan Reynolds spends time in New York City promoting his latest romantic comedy, Definitely, Maybe, which has garnered a mediocre 64% on RottenTomatoes.com. (Ryan is back in Los Angeles already.)

Here’s what two respectable publications had to say about the film:

New York Times: “Definitely, Maybe, written and directed by Adam Brooks, is a nimble and winning little romance.”

Hollywood Reporter: “Strong acting from Ryan Reynolds and Abigail Breslin.”

While in the Big Apple, Ryan made an appearance on Live with Regis & Kelly!. How I Met Your Mother star Neil Patrick Harris filled in for Regis. You can watch a clip here.

Co-host Kelly Ripa asked Ryan if he was always a funny guy. Ryan joked, “I’m the youngest of four brothers, so I’m really more of moving target than a brother. You have to learn your verbal judo early to get your punches in.”

Eric Bana: Scarlett & Natalie Love Each Other

Eric Bana said at a news conference yesterday that costars Scarlett Johansson and Natalie Portman had nothing but love for each other.

Bana, 39, shared, “Why is it that people in the media hate the idea that actors working together is possibly true? I hate to break it to you but actors really do love each other. It’s a crazy job and we put ourselves in vulnerable positions. I don’t care if it sounds corny but it’s true: you’re part of a brotherhood, and protect each other. And they indeed do get along really well.”

Natalie, 25, confirmed: “People keep asking if the rivalry was real but it was the opposite because we just liked each other so much. It was such a rare opportunity to work with an actress my age who I much admire.”

Scarlett, 23, joked, “Natalie was apologizing all the time. She’d say ‘I’m sorry for stealing your baby’ or ‘I’m sorry for that’. I said ‘Don’t worry. Let’s get dinner later’… It was a very healthy competition among all of us to raise the scene to the next level and keep the energy up. It was impressive every day. You can’t be selfish as an actor and say ‘I’m going to do this all for me and I don’t care about the rest of you because my performance is going to be great’. That won’t work. You see how your performance makes their performance better and it means so much to be able to have this kind of a sisterhood with other actors.”

Emma Watson: I’m Not Dating Johnny Borrell

Emma Watson shot down rumors that she’s romantically involved with Razorlight frontman Johnny Borrell, Kirsten Dunst’s ex. (Last week, there were rumors that the two might have had something going on.)

Here’s the Harry Potter star’s latest blog entry:

“This week is Fashion Week and although I have been filming during the day I managed to make it to the Burberry and Vanity Fair party at the National Portrait gallery. The photographs were so beautiful and I was chuffed with the book of all them that they gave me.

I met Christopher Bailey (the designer which was really exciting, I also met Johnny Borrell (who is modeling for Burberry at the moment) and went on to PPQ in the same cab. I’d never met him before so that was great as I’m a big Razorlight fan.

But goodness, I am really going to have to watch who I stand next to from now on! Maybe I should stand next to Orlando Bloom and then we can be said to be ‘dating’!”
