A Diamond Tattoo Is Forever

Here are a few scans from the new issue of People magazine which feature exclusive images from Mariah Carey and Nick Cannon's Caribbean wedding last week. I have to say, the photos look a bit ... strange. I have a hard time seeing Mimi and Nick as a married couple ... and seeing them in their formal wedding attire doesn't really remedy that for me. I suppose they do look happy, tho. Additionally, People posted a new report about the bling that the newlyweds are rockin' these days as well as the new ink they each got to signify their lurve for one another:

When Nick Cannon and Mariah Carey made their first public appearance as newlyweds on Thursday, the pair simply dazzled – almost as much as their wedding jewelry. Carey, who attended TIME magazine's "100 Most Influential People in the World" gala with her new husband, showed off her impressive pink diamond sparkler from of Jacob & Co. jewelers. The ring, valued at a whopping $2.5 million, is 17 carats. The center stone alone is 10-carats – a little smaller than a dime. "I wanted to do something extremely special, something that Mariah would really appreciate," Cannon told PEOPLE. "We got the pinkest stone we could find, surrounded by other diamonds." Carey definitely approved. "It's so clear, you can see my finger through it," she said. According to Jacob Arabo of Jacob & Co., Cannon "was very involved," in picking the ring, which has an emerald-cut fancy light pink center stone surrounded by 58 intense pink diamonds, flanked by two half-moon diamonds. "The way he came into the store, I knew this was very serious," Arabo told PEOPLE. "He said, 'Jacob, I’m in love. This is what I want to do.'" Meanwhile, Cannon's ring would make Liberace proud. The elaborate, chunky diamond band made its debut Thursday as he was leaving his New York City hotel. But while a diamond may be forever, the couple's new tattoos – his says "Mariah" across his shoulders, and hers reads "Mrs. Cannon" on the small of her back – will last a lifetime. "Rings and all that is special and exciting," said Cannon. "But to us, tattoos mean more than anything because it's something we never thought we'd do."

The diamonds, altho gaudy, I can appreciate because, after all, they can always be hawked later on. The tattoos, on the other hand, seem like a real bad idea. There is something very unlucky about getting someone's name tattooed on your body and I fear that this couple, despite being happy now, may live to regret them one day. In any event, Mimi and Nick are married, they are reveling in their marriage and I do wish them all the luck in the world.

EXCLUSIVE: Dad: Liv Tyler is "Doing Great" After Split

Liv Tyler is bouncing back from her split from rocker husband Royston Langdon according to her dad.

"Liv is doing great," Aerosmith's Steven Tyler told Us of his daughter at the Fourth Annual Musicares Map Fund benefit in Hollywood on Friday.

A rep for the couple confirmed to Us they were separating on May 8. They have a son, Milo, 3.

"They remain good friends and devoted parents to their son Milo and are requesting that their family's privacy be respected at this time," the rep added.

The actress, 30, married the Arckid rocker, 36, in 2003.

Us had reported two weeks ago that the couple were talking divorce. Tyler's rep had no comment at the time.

A source overheard the actress seeking advice from a lawyer on the phone.

"In the conversation, she complained about her husband being a 'leech' on her assets, and she said she got married too young," the source told Us.

Tyler – who said in 2004, "I don't believe in divorce" – told Us in February she had forgotten about Valentine's Day.

Jenna Bush & Henry Hager Wed in Texas

It's official: Jenna Welch Bush wed Henry Chase Hager Saturday – making her the first daughter of a sitting United States president to marry in 16 years.

The pair exchanged vows just before sundown in a lakeside ceremony threatened by a tornado watch at President Bush's secluded 1,600-acre Prairie Chapel Ranch in Crawford, Texas.

Pastor Kirbyjon Caldwell, of the Windsor Village United Methodist Church in Houston, presided over the "I do's" before a 4-foot limestone cross and altar that were the president's idea for the occasion and will stand as a permanent landmark on the Bushes' property.

'A Joyous Occasion'
"This is a joyous occasion for our family, as we celebrate the happy life ahead of (Jenna) and her husband, Henry," the president said in his weekly radio broadcast Saturday morning. "It's also a special time for Laura, who this Mother's Day weekend will watch a young woman we raised together walk down the aisle."

A source at the ranch told PEOPLE that the president alone, in traditional style, was escorting the bride to the altar. A White House spokeswoman said she did not know if Jenna planned to take the name Hager as her own.

Dinner and dancing for the 200 guests – including family and only the closest of friends, including longtime presidential advisers Karl Rove and Karen Hughes – were being held under tents.

The Wedding Dress
Jenna, 26, in an embroidered organza Oscar de la Renta gown, was attended by twin sister Barbara, the maid of honor, who wore a dress of moonstone blue shimmer with a silver sash. De la Renta, a close friend of the family, also designed First Lady Laura Bush's deep turquoise "mother-of-the-bride" gown.

White House spokeswoman Sally McDonough said the colors – from the dresses to the décor – were selected to mirror the "very natural" colors of the central Texas landscape: the blues of the lake where Bush fishes for bass, the greens of Mrs. Bush's prized buffalo grass (native grass that she restored to the property) and the lavendar, yellow and blue of the wildflowers.

President Bush poses with daughter Jenna Photo by: Shealah Craighead / White HouseJenna Bush & Henry Hager Wed in Texas| Weddings, Jenna Bush
Henry's brother, John, stood as Best Man. In keeping with Jenna's desire for an "organic and natural" feel to the wedding, the men dressed in suits – not black tie. And dancing was accompanied not by a fussy orchestra, but by Nashville-based wedding singer Tyrone Smith, otherwise known as Super T and a favorite at Southern frat parties.

Henry, whose father is a prominent Virginia Republican, celebrated his 30th birthday on Friday amid wedding festivities that included a rehearsal dinner and "Texas-size" afterparty. He met Jenna in 2004, when both of them were working on her father's reelection campaign.

Finishing up his final year at the University of Virginia's Darden School of Business, he is expected to get his degree later this month and then begin work for an energy company based in Baltimore, Md., where he and Jenna recently bought a townhouse.

The last time a sitting president's child was married was the 1992 Camp David wedding of Dorothy Koch, daughter of President George H.W. Bush, Jenna's grandfather.

Jennifer Aniston and John Mayer Get Cozy Poolside

After saying he's a guy "living his life" when photos of him and Jennifer Aniston surfaced, John Mayer continued to do just that. The hot new couple relaxed at the Manadrin Oriental Hotel in Miami Saturday, eating, chatting – and smooching – poolside.

Aniston, who is wrapping up the Miami portion of her new film Marley & Me with Owen Wilson, sat in side-by-side lounge chairs with Mayer, eating salads and talking softly with one another. At one point the singer, 30, whispered into Aniston's ear, sparking a smile from the actress, 39.

Their quality time didn't end there. Mayer and Aniston also attended the Miami wrap party Saturday night at NIkki Coconut Grove. Mayer shielded Aniston from photographers as she climbed out of the car. The couple kissed throughout the evening, enjoying '80s music provided by the party's DJ before calling it a night.

Idol: Family Friends Defend David Archuleta’s Dad

Archuleta family friends are speaking out to PEOPLE in support of Idol finalist David Archuleta’s father, Jeff, whose backstage privileges have been revoked until further notice, according to reports.

Jeff Archuleta was accused of interfering in the production when he wanted David, 17, to alter his “Stand By Me” performance by adding a verse from Sean Kingston’s 2007 summer hit “Beautiful Girls,” against producers’ wishes.

“I get frustrated with this because of course they never get the story the way it really is,” says Richard Parkinson, 35, of Murray, Utah, who for the last three years has been working with David Archuleta on arrangements, and has also written and performed with the young Idol star. “It is completely unfair that he be taking the brunt of this, if that’s exactly what’s going on. It’s awful … It’s really awful.”

David’s voice coach, Dean Kaelin, told PEOPLE in an email Saturday: “He is just not allowed to go into the arranging sessions with David. It is more of a fairness issue than anything else, since the other two contestants don’t have people on site to help with their arrangements. It is not a punishment.”

Kaelin calls David “a good kid” and adds: “Jeff just happens to be there because David is a minor and is required by law to have a guardian with him. David’s dad is just a caring, concerned parent that fortunately has some musical expertise, and some people fear that because of this David receives an unfair advantage.”

Parkinson also denies the “stage-dad” allegations. “Jeff is a great guy. He’s involved. He’s intense. I’m intense. Sometimes people don’t like that. He’s raised a great kid. We absolutely love him. It’s unfair and uncalled for.”

Survivor’s Jeff Probst Dishes on the All-Female Final Four

Before Sunday’s finale of Survivor: Micronesia airs on CBS (8 p.m. ET), PEOPLE checked in with the show’s host — and resident torch-snuffer — Jeff Probst to get his take on the final four, the great streak of tribal council blindsides and his new MySpace page. –Cynthia Wang

There are four women in the final, Amanda, Cirie, Parvati and Natalie. What is your take and did you expect them to be in the running for the million-dollar prize?
I’m not surprised Amanda’s in it. Overall, she has a very good understanding of how to play Survivor. She’s played two times in a row and has gone deep in the game both times. Cirie — not surprised at all! She is so much cagier. You saw this season that Cirie is so much smarter than she let on her first season. She played that adorable, fish-out-of-water, laughing and giggling all the time when she was on Panama: Exile Island. But this season, when she had it out with [Jonathan] Penner and said, “Listen. You think I don’t know what’s going on. I know.” She’s proven she knows how to play. Parvati, I can’t say she’s surprised me but I’m impressed with how Parvati’s played, particularly with one huge move, bringing Alexis and Natalie into the fold of her, Amanda and Cirie. That move was great because Parvati put herself in a great place of having Alexis and Natalie on one side and Amanda and Cirie on the other side and therefore, for my money, Parvati would be the one I get rid of next because she might have more votes. Next on the block would have to be Cirie because she is so likable. The dark horse is definitely Natalie. I don’t think Natalie can win this game but that might make her a great person to sit next to because she has been so evil.

So the Black Widow Brigade has lived up to its name?
We might have to create some kind of acting or performance award because as a group, that’s probably the best ensemble performance of Survivors that we ever had. This is the first time that a women’s alliance has worked and this group of women have single-handedly destroyed the biggest threats in the game and now they are left to duke it out.

When all of the blindsides were happening, especially Erik’s from last week, did you leave tribal council and go back to production and just laugh?
We had four tribal councils in a row where, when tribal ended and the Survivors take their torches and leave, you can feel everybody — even cameramen who have seen several hundred tribal councils — thinking, “What just happened?” First it was Ozzy, then it was Jason, then it was Alexis, and then, the crème de la crème, Erik handing over the immunity necklace. I don’t think the reaction was laughter so much as a slight bruise on the chin from it hitting the ground.

In “Fans vs. Favorites,” clearly the favorites had the advantage?
Going into the finale with one fan still alive says a lot about the fans and it also points to the huge advantage that the favorites have. They are not worried about what tomorrow will bring because they know what tomorrow will bring, so they can concentrate on relationships. If any of these fans were to come back now and get a second chance, they would be much better. Erik would certainly not make that same mistake again. I think this is in the top three seasons we’ve ever done and it’s exciting to see that happen in our 16th season.

Now fans can get sneak peeks of the show and ask you questions on your new MySpace page. Why the leap to cyberspace?
The world of social networking is clearly the present and the future and I want to be current. I went and looked at some other sites and the one thing that appealed to me were the sites where you felt the person was actually sharing some personal side of who they were instead of some corporate promotional piece. It’s not there yet, we’re slowly building it, but we wanted to get it out there. It’s a big experiment for me. Survivor is show a little bit like The X Files. If you are a fan, you are a really big fan and you will look for the site where you can learn more and ask questions. I’m open to showing as much as we can and I am trying to gather those photos now that can show how big our crew is or what it might look like if you were on Survivor and what you might see looking into a bank. I am going to listen to what people say they like to see and do as much as I can to fulfill it. As Survivor has aged over the years and we still have a loyal fan base over 16 seasons, I think it’s a fair trade in return for that loyalty to let you to continue to learn a little more about the show.

What Happens at LAX...

…better not involve an unregistered handgun!

Veteran actor Dennis Farina was taken into custody at Los Angeles International Airport on Sunday after authorities found an unregistered .22 caliber semiautomatic pistol in his briefcase. He was transported to a police station in Van Nuys and is being held on $35,000 bail.

Police say Farina, 64, was "very apologetic and cooperative" and told them he had simply forgotten about the weapon. The former Law & Order star was on his way to Chicago when he was arrested by TSA.

In addition to a jail cell this weekend, Farina can be seen in What Happens in Vegas starring Cameron Diaz and Ashton Kutcher.

Grand Ole Carrie!

Adding another notch on her I'm-way-

The American Idol season four champion and three-time Grammy Award winner told the sold-out crowd, "This really seems like a great family to be part of. I promise I'll do everything I possibly can to not make you regret it."

Country music star and Opry member Garth Brooks presented the award to Underwood, who is the current Female Vocalist of the Year for the Academy of Country Music and the Country Music Association. He told her, "Nothing will last as long or be more important than this award right here tonight. Congratulations."

Membership to the Opry is invitation-only and based on the artist's commitment to the show and overall contribution to country music. Underwood, 25, made her debut on the 83-year-old radio program in 2005, just two weeks after winning Idol. She's currently on the road headlining her Carnival Ride tour.

Speed Racer Lapped

The summer box office season has seen its first crash.

The $100 million-ish Speed Racer opened this weekend with an estimated $20.2 million, and, according to one box office expert, will struggle to get to $50 million domestically by the time its run is done.

"In terms of Warner Bros., this is a yellow flag of caution," Jeff Bock of Exhibitor Relations Co. said today.

Elsewhere, Iron Man continued to show he was still the man (first place, $50.5 million), and Ashton Kutcher and Cameron Diaz's What Happens in Vegas hit on a nice little number (third place, $20 million).

For the weekend, Speed Racer, directed by The Matrix's Wachowski brothers and starring Emile Hirsch as the 1960s cartoon driver come to life, finished second, behind Iron Man and ahead of What Happens in Vegas. But Bock said the rankings could change once today's studio estimates turn into Monday's final numbers.

"Don't be surprised if Speed Racer comes in third, when all is said and done," Bock said.

Speed Racer's slow start was not a surprise. The trailers didn't click. The reviews weren't good (although, per Rotten Tomatoes, the reviews for What Happens in Vegas were even worse).

According to Bock, the movie had a third strike against it: It is a family-friendly film.

"In today's market, when you have a PG film, it's really hard to market that to families," Bock said. "And when this one came out PG, it obviously was for kids only, and that means a lot of families don't go."

PG-13 is the marketing sweet spot—eight of the year's top 10 films sport that rating, with The Spiderwick Chronicles the lone PG film in that mix.

Guess Pops Racer shouldn't hold back the next time he's cursing out Speed for grinding the gears on the Mach 5. Or 6.

Elsewhere:

* Iron Man is showing pretty good legs for a movie, circa 2008, with business down 51 percent. Last year, Spider-Man 3 dropped more than 60 percent in its second weekend.
* Overall, Iron Man's stateside take stands at $177.1 million. After two weekends, it has bypassed Dr. Seuss' Horton Hears a Who! as the year's No. 1 movie. What Happens in Vegas outgrossed Speed Racer, screen for screen, and debuted in the neighborhood of 27 Dresses and Fool's Gold, the year's two biggest romantic comedies.
* Owing to the Shrek and Charlie's Angels franchises, Diaz has enjoyed far bigger openings than What Happens in Vegas' $20 million. Owing to My Boss's Daughter, et al, Kutcher has only topped $20 million one other time (2005's Guess Who).
* If you think being a PG film is tough, try being an R. Forgetting Sarah Marshall (sixth place, $3.8 million; $50.7 million overall) and the forgotten Rambo ($42.8 million overall) are the only two of their kind in the year's top 20, per the stats at Box Office Mojo.
* David Mamet's Redbelt (10th place, $1.1 million; $1.2 million overall) broke wide, and broke into the top 10, which all sounds pretty good until you notice it "grossed," on average, $827 at each of its 1,300-plus theaters.
* Prom Night ($1.1 million; $42.8 million overall) and 88 Minutes ($485,000; $16.4 million overall, per Box Office Mojo) both ended their top 10 runs. 21 ($835,000) did, too, but it also crossed $80 million mark overall.
* It was another largely underwhelming weekend on the art-house circuit. Not one little movie grossed as much per screen as gigantic Iron Man, which averaged a weekend-best $12,284 at each of its 4,000-plus theaters.
* The Fall, a fantasy-drama starring Pushing Daisies' Lee Pace, distinguished itself with a strong $80,200 at nine theaters, per Box Office Mojo.

Here's a recap of the top-grossing weekend films based on Friday-Sunday estimates compiled by Exhibitor Relations:

1. Iron Man, $50.5 million
2. Speed Racer, $20.2 million
3. What Happens in Vegas, $20 million
4. Made of Honor, $7.6 million
5. Baby Mama, $5.8 million
6. Forgetting Sarah Marshall, $3.8 million
7. Harold & Kumar Escape from Guantanamo Bay, $3.2 million
8. The Forbidden Kingdom, $1.9 million
9. Nim's Island, $1.3 million
10. Redbelt, $1.1 million

Indiana Jones Is Battling the Long Knives of the Internet

LOS ANGELES — Now comes the part where Indiana Jones dangles over the snake pit of public opinion.

Steven Spielberg and Harrison Ford on the "Indiana Jones" set.

Actually, a handful of Web reviewers have already struck at the film “Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull,” despite an intense effort by the director Steven Spielberg, the executive producer George Lucas and Paramount Pictures to keep this highly anticipated sequel out of sight until Sunday, May 18.

On that day, this fourth Indiana Jones movie is scheduled to make its debut at the Cannes Film Festival with an afternoon press screening, and another one at night.

At about the same time, the picture, which opens in theaters on the following Thursday, is expected to be screened for the news media and industry insiders at multiple showings in Manhattan and Los Angeles, while other screenings are scheduled around the world.

Mr. Spielberg is unusually fastidious when it comes to protecting his films from advance word that can diminish excitement or muddy a message planted by months of carefully orchestrated publicity and expensive promotions (including, in this case, a February cover article in Vanity Fair, complete with Annie Leibovitz photos of the cast, and leather bullwhips delivered weeks ago to newsrooms).

Mr. Spielberg customarily avoids leaky test screenings. Even Marvin Levy, his publicist of more than 30 years, said he had not yet seen the new movie.

Still, there it was, at 6:42 a.m. on Thursday: a harshly critical review on aintitcoolnews.com, from a poster who identified himself as “ShogunMaster.” Rife with details from the film, the review said, “This is the Indiana Movie that you were dreading.”

By that afternoon two other less critical, but less than sparkling, reviews also appeared on the Web site.

The man who posted as ShogunMaster, reached via the Web site, said he is a theater executive who saw the film at an exhibitors’ screening this week. He spoke on condition of anonymity to avoid reprisal from the studio.

Paramount had shown the film to a handful of theater company executives at its Los Angeles lot and elsewhere.

Movie studios increasingly tend to protect their biggest bets from advance showings. Two years ago, for instance, Sony Pictures screened “The Da Vinci Code” for critics at the Cannes Film Festival only two days before its opening in the United States. But exhibitors’ screenings can open a window for determined reviewers.

Such screenings are required in about two dozen states that have laws against blind-bidding, a practice in which theater owners were once asked to bid on films they had not seen.

As a practical matter, there is little or no actual bidding in the contemporary theater business, which relies instead on negotiations between distributors and theater owners. But distributors continue to hold screenings for theater company executives in the weeks before a film’s release, whether as a courtesy or as a way to avoid conflict with a patchwork of state laws.

Theater executives may have an incentive to play down a movie’s prospects after such a screening, to get better terms. In any case, many fans will most likely flock to “Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull,” if only to make their own judgments about Mr. Spielberg’s decision to revisit the franchise fully 19 years after its last installment. Still, bad notices could keep the more ambivalent moviegoers from attending and thwart a truly huge box office haul.

According to Mr. Levy, who spoke by telephone on Thursday, Mr. Spielberg has kept a watchful eye on virtually every aspect of the film’s marketing campaign. “He gets involved with everything,” Mr. Levy said. “Every TV spot, every line in every ad, every advertising concept.” (Among the marketing tie-ins were Indiana Jones fedoras, available at Blockbuster stores.)

The current campaign has been engineered to create excitement around the opening date, May 22 — some billboards feature the date, in flame-colored letters, and little else — without telling too much about the film. Last year the movie’s producers went so far as to file a lawsuit against a bit player who had publicly discussed the film’s plot, which involves the exploits of an aging archaeological adventurer, still played by Harrison Ford, now 65.

The campaign has been effective so far. Fandango, which sells film tickets online, said this week that it was “seeing brisk advance ticket sales” to “Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull,” identified as the summer’s most anticipated film in a poll Fandango conducted of moviegoers.

But a better gauge of success is likely to be the extent of online sales in the few days after the film screens at Cannes — and after many reviewers have weighed in.

Tim Ryan, a senior editor at Rottentomatoes.com, which compiles film reviews, said he expected those of “Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull” to surface “maybe an hour or two” after the Sunday afternoon press screening in France. His company will have someone on hand to post them immediately, Mr. Ryan said.

As rated by Rottentomatoes, the earlier “Indiana Jones” films enjoyed strong reviews. The worst-reviewed of the three — the second, “Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom,” released in 1984 — was still the third-most-popular movie of the year.

Mr. Spielberg, Mr. Levy said, may not be the first to know if the aging Indy manages to wriggle past any negative early notices to score another hit. “When a movie opens, he usually disappears,” Mr. Levy said. “He usually doesn’t want to know all the details about how it’s doing.”

Connor & Isabella Cruise attended David Beckham's soccer game in Los Angeles this past weekend with dad Tom and mother Katie.

Nicole, of course, was out of the picture.

Kidman has said in interviews that her children call her "Nicole" and not mom.

Holmes, on the other hand, has said that Connor & Isabella call her "mom."

Thankfully, Nicole's gonna have her own baby with Keith Urban any minute now.

Hopefully she'll spend more time with it than she does her other kids!

Off The Wagon???

Kirsten Dunst checked herself into rehab just a few months ago, but (like Lohan) the actress has already resumed her hard-pAArtying ways.

The NY Daily News is reporting that Drunkst's sobriety may be slipping.

Recently rehabbed Kirsten Dunst partied hard last week for her 26th birthday at Bowery Electric, the new rock bar that has taken over the space of creepy voyeur haven Remote Lounge.

We can't say for sure what the newly sober Dunst was consuming, but spies say the actress looked a lot worse for the wear as she tumbled out on to the street hours after midnight, with girlfriends gripping her arm.

How long until she goes back to rehab???

How To Ruin Your Career 101

Lindsay Lohan has been having major trouble getting work lately.

The "actress" has resorted to working on a leggings line and doing TV work.

And, of course, the one film she was cast in recently just dropped her because no one wants to work with her.

So, you'd think when Lohan gets a job these days, she would take it seriously right???

Wrong!

We had the pleasure and wonderful opportunity to introduce one of the acts at the big Wango Tango concert Saturday night in Irvine, and organizers were scrambling backstage because they thought Lohan was going to be a no-show.

Miley Cyrus joked onstage that Lindsay was flaking because she was afraid of her. Ha!

Even though she was billed as a "co-host" on countless radio spots, Lohan couldn't be bothered to show up until after 9:00 PM.

The show started at 6:30 P.M.!!!!!!!

We have a feeling this will be the last time Lindsay "co-hosts" a Wango Tango event!

Try harder, girl.

Desperately Seeking Britney

Um ... any chance any of y'all know, recognize or remember the name of this sad person who was caught roaming the streets of West Hollywood, CA looking in vain for what miniscule smidge of notoriety she once had?

She was someone's cousin, I think. She spent all of her time trying desperately to ride the coattails of her more famous family member (hoping to have her own reality show, at some point), which entailed her standing idly by while her sick cousin was being used and abused by extremely exploitive people in her life. Yeah, I dunno why she is still showing her face around town but I wish she'd go back to wherever the hell she came from before she came to LA to participate in the tragic exploitation of her very famous and rich cousin.

Sarah Jessica Parker Puts Family First

Sarah Jessica Parker is in movie promo mode so expect to see a lot more of her talking about the Sex and the City movie over the next few weeks. She worked her best bedhead look for this weekend's issue of Parade. In the interview SJP talks a little about the movie — don't worry, no spoilers — and gets chatty about how much she loves her family. Here are highlights:

* On the SATC movie: “Carrie and Charlotte and Miranda and Samantha aren’t young anymore. Their lives are much less frivolous. They can’t cope with their problems by putting on their sweats and staying up all night and ordering in food and gossiping about the men in their lives. There is less self-absorption but perhaps a little more self-awareness.”

* On raising James Wilkie: “I was really lucky. I think that if I had been raised a child of privilege, I wouldn’t be the working person I am today. I have a great appreciation for work. I think it’s incumbent on my husband and me to really stress and to show James Wilkie by example what it means to owe your community something and that he is not entitled to the benefits of our hard work. That doesn’t mean that I’m withholding or keeping from him the joys of childhood. I’m not Joan Crawford. But I also don’t want him to think the world he lives in is the real world. It’s not.”

* On if she'll be with Matthew forever: “I don’t see any way out of it for him. Poor fellow. But my son is so in love with his father. He really worships him, and that changes the way you see somebody and deepens it. The only thing he may love almost as much as his father are Legos and Star Wars and the cast recording of The Full Monty.”

Parvati Crowned Survivor of the Fittest

In the end, the best man won. She just happened to be a woman.

Parvati Shallow, the former boxer from Los Angeles whose flirty ways landed her with a less than coveted sixth place finish in Survivor: Cook Islands, found redemption Sunday night, getting voted the winner of Survivor: Micronesia—Fans vs. Favorites.

The 25-year-old pugilist and non-profit organizer—and so-called "favorite"—was awarded the title and $1 million prize by host Jeff Probst after helping comprise the show's first ever all-female final four.

Shallow's win indeed proved to be a survival of the fittest, particularly in a season that was unequaled in competitor injuries.

Rather than outwit, outlast or outplay, the unabashed lash-batter used her feminine wiles to secure her spot in the final four, copping in the live finale to having been an equal opportunity flirt on the island with both her male and female competitors.

Shallow and fellow "favorites" Amanda Kimmel, from Survivor: China, and Cirie Fields, from Survivor: Panama, comprised the final three. Kimmel ultimately cast the eliminating vote against Fields after winning the final immunity challenge, leaving her to battle it out against Shallow at the final vote.

Shallow, who earlier in the season allowed history to repeat itself by leading a series of aggressive blindsides against the castaways, starting with fellow Survivor: Cook Islands alum Oscar "Ozzy" Lusth, and who was a major player in the so-dubbed Black Widow Alliance, appealed to the Tribal Council's sense of sportsmanship in making her plea for the title, chalking up some of her more duplicitous behaviors over the 39-day period as simply playing the game.

She wound up her appeal by telling the voters that the Survivor version of herself is not an accurate depiction of her character in real life.

Meanwhile, a suddenly emotional Kimmel, who won the final two individual immunities leading up to the final vote, took a different tact, spouting off on her loyalty during the game before letting loose a flood of tears.

In the end, the tribe spoke loud and clear: Shallow handily won the 16th season with five votes to Kimmel's three.

The "fans," meanwhile, blew away long ago, failing to even make it into the final four.

Will Britney Go Home Again?

Could Britney Spears be heading back home to Louisiana?

Yes, we hear exclusively that the popstress has promised her little sister that she'd return home to Kentwood, La., when Jamie Lynn gives birth. We hear the official due date is June 29.

"At the baby shower, she told her little sister she wanted to be there for her the entire time," said a friend close to the Spears family. "I'm not sure how Casey is going to feel about that. But Jamie Lynn seems pretty excited."

There’s just one hitch.

Britney has to ask her daddy for permission to go.

"She had to ask him if it was OK to go back for the shower," said the friend, adding that the baby shower was the first time Britney had been home in 16 months. "He has to give her permission to travel, and the money to do it. It's not that he doesn't want her there for her little sister. It's just that he thinks it's best to keep Britney close to home right now."

Well, we understand that, given Brit's recent mischief-making past. But do our insiders really think he might stop Brit from going?

"Oh, probably not," said the Britney pal. "It would be pretty coldhearted to say no."

Sounds like Jamie Lynn may be getting some help from sis when the baby comes.

'House''s Stripper Fantasy Finale

LISA EDELSTEIN, who plays Dr. Lisa Cuddy on "House," will be fulfilling a fantasy on the first half of the doctor drama's two-part finale, beginning Monday night at 9 p.m. on FOX. In "House's Head -- Part 1," House (HUGH LAURIE) is in a bus accident and loses four hours of his memory. As he tries to piece the missing time together, he enters the world of fantasy.

For Lisa's character's fantasy, House decides to dress her up in a school-girl costume, but he takes it one step further when he has her strip. To make it work, Lisa called SHEILA KELLEY, who has a company called The S Factor, a workout program based on striptease and pole dancing classes to increase fitness.

"She did a movie a long time ago about strippers and realized stripping was a great way to stay in shape and also a great way for women to kind of explore their sexual power," the TV doc explains. "I went to her and she helped me choreograph this routine. I didn't need it for the exercise, because I would show up there after doing two hours of yoga. But in terms of learning about how to be sexy without doing it for somebody else, that is the trick. You stand within your own skin and your own power, you do it for your own enjoyment."

As for Cuddy's relationship with House, which has yet to be fulfilled except in viewers' fantasy, Lisa says: "I think that she very much loves House. She, also, lives vicariously through him because she is a very smart woman who is very successful as a doctor and has a great job and a wonderful position, but she also has less and less to do with the actual practice of medicine as the years have gone by. She is excited by what he does and how he does it, and [is] deeply frustrated by him at the same time. As all intense people are, [he is] incredibly interesting and compelling and she falls victim to that."

"House" airs Monday nights at 9 p.m. on FOX.

Pop star BRITNEY SPEARS looks like she may have found another niche aside from music -- acting! After getting ready to make her second guest appearance on the CBS comedy "How I Met Your Mother" it looks like a third appearance could be on the stars, reports The Hollywood Reporter.

CRAIG THOMAS, the show's co-creator, tells THR.com that Monday's episode was written to leave the door open for Spears to make another appearance next season.

"She was better than the first time, and I think the fans will enjoy it because her return answers a larger mystery set up earlier in the series," Thomas said.

Kelly Preston Spooks on 'Medium'!

On the season finale of "Medium," airing Monday, May 12 at 10 p.m. on NBC, psychic Allison's (PATRICIA ARQUETTE) attempt to ease a young couple's concerns that their "dream home" is haunted leads to unexpected misery and murder, while her husband Joe (JAKE WEBER) must deal with an altogether different threat -- sexy guest star KELLY PRESTON!

"'Medium' really, truthfully, is my favorite show," Kelly tells ET. "My husband [JOHN TRAVOLTA] loves it as well. But my kids -- well at least my youngest, she's a little spooked, I think."

This season's finale, "Drowned World," finds Kelly up to no good in the skin of her character Meghan Doyle, a venture capitalist with some rather shady plans in store for Joe's solar powered invention.

"She keeps sort of pulling him into her web with promise of prosperity and, you know, true realization of his dream," the 45-year-old actress says of Meghan. "Yet, she is sort of taking him down a slippery path."

And while the episode's exciting conclusion marks the end of her story arc, Kelly doesn't rule out the idea that viewers might see her devious double-dealer on the series again -- even if Meghan were to meet her demise.

"My character gets pretty wound up pretty succinctly," she explains. "But, you know, as with a lot of the characters, they can also come back … I don't fall off a cliff, but I do do something that's pretty wicked."

Source: Jimmy Fallon Set As Conan’s ‘Late Night’ Replacement

Jimmy Fallon will officially be given the keys to NBC’s “Late Night” franchise following Conan O’Brien’s exit.

A person close to the negotiations who spoke on condition of anonymity because the announcement hadn’t been made confirmed the widely rumored change Sunday and said a news conference was planned for Monday.

All that’s left is an official date for NBC’s transition: O’Brien moving out West to take over for Jay Leno on the “Tonight” show and Fallon following in the next time slot.

Fallon was a “Saturday Night Live” cast member before leaving for a movie career in 2004. He has had mixed success, with his most notable role as a childlike Boston Red Sox fan and Drew Barrymore’s paramour in “Fever Pitch.”

He signed a deal with NBC in 2007 that was widely seen as a way to keep him in the fold until the time came for Monday’s announcement.

It would be hard for him to have a rockier transition than O’Brien had when he took over from David Letterman in the mid-1990s. O’Brien was a writer with a quick sense of humor but a mystery to the television audience, and he was savaged in early reviews. NBC nearly fired him but persevered, and O’Brien grew into the role.

It was in large part to keep O’Brien happy that NBC announced four years ago that he would replace Leno next year.

While Leno went along with the plan, there are reports that the workaholic comic is not eager to leave. NBC Universal is trying to find a job that would satisfy him and avoid having Leno move to ABC or Fox to compete directly against O’Brien.

NBC could decide to back out of the plan and keep Leno on “Tonight,” but O’Brien’s contract calls for a penalty fee reportedly close to $40 million.

It all amounts to a roll of the dice in late-night, where NBC has stayed on top despite the network’s prime-time problems.

NBC’s announcement opens network television’s “upfront” week, when fall schedules are set and presented to advertisers. NBC took the unusual step of announcing its schedule a month ago, and it has invited advertisers for a Monday sales presentation emphasizing all of NBC Universal’s properties.

Vanessa Williams Graduates From Syracuse

Vanessa Williams has received her bachelor of fine arts degree from Syracuse University, nearly 25 years after she dropped out to become the first black Miss America.

The 45-year-old actress-singer, who stars in ABC’s “Ugly Betty,” also delivered the convocation address Saturday to graduates of Syracuse’s College of Visual and Performing Arts.

She encouraged her fellow graduates to “treasure this moment.”

“These days are irreplaceable and are the beginning of the rest of your life,” she said, according to the Web Site of The Syracuse Post-Standard.

When she accepted her diploma, Williams raised it to show her mother and children.

Williams attended Syracuse’s drama department as a musical theater major from 1981-1983. She earned the remaining credits for her degree through industry experience and performances on stage and screen.

She became the first black Miss America in 1983, but surrendered the title in July 1984 after Penthouse magazine published nude, sexually explicit photographs of her taken several years earlier.

Over her career, Williams has sold more than 4 million albums, won critical praise for her performances on Broadway, made dozens of TV appearances and starred in several movies.

She has won a Tony, received two NAACP Image Awards and nine Grammy nominations.

In 1996, Williams received the George Arents Pioneer Medal, the university’s most prestigious alumni award.

LA Judge Rules In Favor Of Notorious B.I.G.‘s Family

A judge has reinstated a wrongful-death lawsuit brought by the family of slain rapper Notorious B.I.G., reversing an earlier decision to dismiss the case.

U.S. District Judge Florence-Marie Cooper threw out the lawsuit March 21 after determining the family missed a state deadline for bringing a claim against the city and two former police officers. The lawsuit was originally filed in Los Angeles Superior Court, then moved to federal court.

The family appealed, and the judge reversed her decision after finding federal claims in the case can proceed, according to court papers obtained Thursday.

Cooper gave the family 20 days to file a new lawsuit and drop the state claims.

B.I.G., whose real name was Christopher Wallace, was gunned down March 9, 1997, while leaving a party at a Los Angeles museum. The 24-year-old performer’s killing remains unsolved.

Two wrongful death lawsuits were filed against the city on behalf of the rapper’s widow, mother and two children.

The first lawsuit, filed in 2002, alleges wrongful death and civil rights violations. It ended in a mistrial in 2005. The case remains active, with the judge allowing the family to amend the lawsuit because of newly discovered evidence.

Cooper’s recent ruling involved the secondary lawsuit, which contends that rogue police officers conspired to kill Wallace and that the Police Department covered up their involvement.

Hate To Say I Told You So

Bad news for Warner Bros. Studios and the Wachowski Brothers at the box office this weekend ... their $100+ million dollar "summer blockbuster" Speed Racer looks to be on track to become one of the huge box office failures of the summer movie season. When a movie costs around $100 million dollars to make and around $80 million dollars to promote and it only pulls in around $20 million dollars on its opening weekend, I think you've got major cause for concern:

The summer of 2008 is only two weeks old, and it already has its first flop. Speed Racer, the Wachowski Brothers' kaleidoscopic retelling of the classic cartoon series, got stuck in neutral this weekend, grossing a mere $20.2 million, according to Sunday's estimates — a disastrous sum for a movie that cost well in excess of $100 mil and that Warner Bros. had considered one of its major summer tentpoles ... Speed Racer (No. 2), which banked less than half of what many in Hollywood had originally expected it would earn over the course of its premiere weekend. Leaked word that the film was tracking poorly coupled with particularly weak reviews made this outcome visible from way down the road ... But that doesn't mitigate the damage. The movie is a wreck on the level of recent memorable summer failures like Kingdom of Heaven (which opened with $19.6 mil) and Poseidon ($22.2 mil) — at the domestic box office, at least. Overseas, well, that's another (possibly sadder) story. While would-be blockbusters that fail domestically usually have a chance to recoup their costs in foreign multiplexes (the aforementioned Kingdom of Heaven and Poseidon both did just that), there are reports that Speed Racer may have gotten a flat tire at the international box office as well; the dust still has to settle before we know the full story there. In the meantime, one has to wonder where the movie — which stars Emile Hirsch, Christina Ricci, and Matthew Fox — goes from here ... Worse still, Speed Racer could even fall to third place when this weekend's final numbers are unveiled on Monday. That's because its total is a mere $200,000 ahead of the initial No. 3 finisher, What Happens in Vegas, which banked an estimated $20 mil.

Ouch! But to be honest, I am not at all surprised. I saw the film at a midnight screening this past Thursday night and was HUGELY disappointed in how the movie turned out. There really wasn't a single thing that I liked about the movie at all. The awkward spirit of the cartoon was totally lost on the big screen adaptation ...

... if the movie had turned out more like this ...

Click to watch

... then it prolly would've done much, much better. There is something about the way the original cartoon was presented that gave it its appeal ... none of that was saved for the movie. I will go back to watching Speed Racer cartoons (you can watch Part II of this episode The Trick Race HERE and Part III HERE) and will try and forget all about this horrible CGI mess.

PS: I'm not interested in THIS bullshizz either. From here on out, it's only old skool Speed Racer for me.

Made of Honor

At first we talked about going to see What Happens In Vegas but in the end, decided to go see Made of Honor instead:

Fortunately, we made the right decision. Made of Honor is so cute, even tho it's basically the same best friend falling in love with best friend at the last minute storyline, this movie was handled very well. The storyline never slowed to boring pontification and the characters were actually engaging. Hello, Patrick Dempsey was also shirtless for about 40% of the movie, so that worked in its favor as well. Fans of movies like 27 Dresses will most likely really enjoy this movie too. It makes for a very cute date movie as well.

It's Never Too Early To Start Planning A Coup

BFFs 4Ever Lauren LC Conrad and Lauren Lo Bosworth spent part of their weekend shopping at The Grove together just days before the extended third season of The Hills airs its finale episode on Monday May 12. Here are pics of the ladies hanging out at The Grove plotting discussing how things might go down on the just announced 4th season of The Hills:

Miss Lo has only been on The Hills as a regular castmember in the extended portion of season 3 but she has already asserted enough control to move into the #2 position (squeezing Audrina out) on Team LC. It makes sense, LC and Lo go waaay back to the Laguna Beach days (and even before that) so they've got a bond that is very tough to crack. Now that LC and Lo are living together, there ain't no way anyone else is going to be able to infiltrate their new union. Lo has always been one of my favorite "characters" so I'm pleased to know that she'll be around for season 4 ... but first, we'll have to tune in tomorrow night to see how the drama from this season will wrap up. Will Audrina finally move out and away from LC now that Lo has stepped in to take her place? And if so, what does that mean for the upcoming season? Will Audrina entirely move over to Team Heidi? HMMMMM. I can't wait to find out.

Lindsay's Line of Leggings Are Stronger Than Her Movie Career

Lindsay Lohan had quite the busy — and bizarre — weekend around LA. Between shopping and clubbing, LL spent Friday afternoon doing a photoshoot for her new line of leggings. She was happy to model a pair herself alongside the rest of the girls ... seriously though, knee pads. Saturday was a work night for the starlet, who kinda fulfilled her duties of cohost at the Wango Tango concert in Irvine, though she showed up a few hours late. Sounds like Lohan should hold on to the gigs she's got, because she's apparently lost two roles. She's not going to be in Manson Girls due to "scheduling conflicts" and she's been let go of the Jack Black film, Ye Olde Times. Ouch, well maybe the album will be awesome and those leggings will hit the jackpot for Lindsay?

Scott Weiland Checks Into Jail

Former Velvet Revolver singer Scott Weiland checked into a Van Nuys, Calif., jail on Monday to serve eight days for a second DUI conviction.

Weiland surrendered at 8:55 a.m., according to the sheriff's inmate Web site.

On April 28, the singer was sentenced to the jail term after he pleaded no contest to DUI following a Nov. 11 arrest. He was also ordered to complete an 18-month alcohol education class and pay nearly $2,000 in fines.

Weiland, 40, has run afoul of the law numerous times over the years: He was convicted of DUI after a 2003 arrest in Hollywood, arrested on domestic-violence charges in 2001, and jailed for drug offenses in the 1990s.

On April 1, Velvet Revolver band members announced they were splitting with Weiland, citing his "increasingly erratic" behavior.

Meanwhile, Weiland has reunited with his previous band, the Stone Temple Pilots.

His lawyer did not respond to calls for comment.

Mariah Carey and Nick Cannon Celebrate Ellen's Birthday

Newlyweds Mariah Carey and Nick Cannon were among the high-profile guests at Ellen DeGeneres's 50th birthday bash in Southern California over the weekend.

The party, held on the Warner Bros. lot in Burbank (where DeGeneres is now taping her show, after having moved from the nearby NBC studios), was set up like a carnival – complete with 10-ft. elephant topiaries, a Ferris wheel, bumper cars, carousel, dunk tank and stilt-walkers.

Others who helped the talk-show host celebrate her landmark – which was actually back on Jan. 26 – included the Jonas Brothers, Paris Hilton and Benji Madden, David and Courtney Cox Arquette, T.R. Knight, and Tom Hanks with wife Rita Wilson.

For entertainment, Pink sang several of her hits, the dance crew ACDC performed and DJ Samantha Ronson spun tunes as guests hit the dance floor.

Snacks included red velvet cupcakes, Pinkberry yogurt, sushi and a dim sum buffet.

DeGeneres, who was accompanied by girlfriend Portia de Rossi, will share clips of the celebration on her TV show set to air Friday, May 16.

Geri Halliwell Wants Healthy Body Image for Daughter Bluebell

Ginger Spice may look amazing these days, but she's more concerned with being a role model for her daughter than with spending her life at the gym.

"I want to have a healthy body image for Bluebell," Geri Halliwell tells the U.K.'s Glamour of her daughter, who turns 2 on May 14. "I think it's good to promote a healthy example, so whatever shape she is, she loves herself."

"I used to be an exercise freak," says the singer, who has batteld bulimia in the past. "[Now] yoga has always been a consistent, loving thing to do. I'm not into the Madonna-esque yoga-cising."

Adds Halliwell: "I think the outside reflects the inside, and where I am now, I just feel content and accepting. I think that's the key to having a good body."

The singer adds that fame has been good to her but doesn't fulfill her, so she's now writing children's books.

Carmen Electra: 'I Was Definitely Open to Love Again'

Carmen Electra is no stranger to marriage. But two failed unions – to Dennis Rodman and Dave Navarro – didn't make the actress jaded.

"I was definitely open to love again," the recently engaged Electra told PEOPLE in Las Vegas at the Hard Rock Hotel on Saturday.

Love is exactly what she found with former touring Korn guitarist Rob Patterson, who popped the question in April by giving her a black diamond.

"The last couple weeks have been amazing on a lot of different levels," the Meet The Spartans star said at a junket for the film. "Rob is amazing. We were great friends and it actually turned into something much more."

"We all try to protect our hearts and our feelings and it's really easy to put up a wall and not feel anything," she continued. "I've learned to allow myself to feel, whether it's painful or beautiful. I'm really happy."

The happiness showed as the duo was all smiles in Vegas, walking around the hotel hand in hand Saturday. Following her day of work, the duo was spotted getting loose at Body English nightclub.

So when is wedding number three? Not for a while, says Electra: "I have so much work."
