Patrick Dempsey: I Was Never a One-Night Stand Kind of Guy

Even before meeting Jillian, his wife of nine years, Patrick Dempsey "was a serial monogamist," he says.

"I've never found it easy to have one-night stands ... it tears away at your soul," the Grey's Anatomy and Made of Honor star, 42, tells the U.K. edition of Glamour" magazine for June. "By the time you open yourself up, you have to close yourself off."

Dempsey credits his spouse, a hairdresser now consulting for Avon, with turning around his life after years of losing out on roles, partly because his dyslexia made it difficult to learn lines for auditions.

Together, they bought a farm in Maine, his home state, and Dempsey says he realized, "I could be happy with a different life." His career took off when he developed that perspective.

The actor credits his McDreamy label to the "really good chemistry" between himself and Grey's costar Ellen Pompeo.

"I could just look at her and feel completely emotionally present and unaware of the camera," he says.

He also acknowledges that his status as a small-screen icon added pressure upon his marriage (last year Jillian gave birth to twin boys), but says: "Our relationship is stronger than ever because we know the difference between what is fantasy and what is real. We are in our 40s, not our 20s. We're not caught up in that whole McDreamy thing."

In terms of career, Dempsey sees parallels between his and that of George Clooney's, "someone I respect immensely and get compared to a lot. He is extremely kind about that. We've both played doctors and are both late developers."

Ryan Seacrest: 'I Like What I've Heard' of Lindsay Lohan's New Music

Lindsay Lohan is going hip-hop on her next album – and Ryan Seacrest is impressed.

"I've heard some of it, I like what I've heard so far," Seacrest told PEOPLE backstage at KIIS-FM's annual Wango Tango concert in Irvine, Calif., on Saturday. Miley Cyrus and the Jonas Brothers performed at the show.

"Lindsay is taking it very seriously," said Seacrest, 33. "She's working really hard. She's working with great producers."

The host added, "She's told me that she's going to come in and debut the entire record with me on my KIIS-FM [radio show]. We're going to play some of the songs, and go through the whole thing together."

At the Saturday concert, Lohan, 21, told Wango Tango fans that her untitled CD (due on Motown records later this year) will include collaborations with Akon, Pharrell Williams, Ne-Yo and Snoop Dogg. An exclusive preview of her new song, ""Bossy"," was posted on PEOPLE last week.

The album is another sign that Lohan is getting back to work after her stint in rehab last year. She is also shooting a five-episode arc on Ugly Betty, including this season's finale, that will continue into next fall.

Audrina Patridge Gets Scripted

Forget fashion! Audrina Patridge isn’t following suit and launching her own line of clothes like her Hills costars. Instead, she’s suiting up on the big screen.

Patridge has signed a deal to appear in Into the Blue 2, a sequel to the 2005 action-bikini movie starring Jessica Alba and Paul Walker, according to the Hollywood Reporter.

Audrina will play a beach babe whose boyfriend caters to her every need. Like its predecessor, Blue 2 will combine surf, sand and sun with a little danger. Chris Carmack, of The O.C., and Laura Vandervoort, of Smallville, will also star.

While Heidi Montag, Whitney Port and Lauren Conrad (who played herself in Epic Movie) have launched their own clothing lines, Audrina is the first Hills star to take on an acting role in a film.

Charges Dropped Against Anne Hathaway's Boyfriend

Anne Hathaway's boyfriend is in the clear: The Manhattan District Attorney's office has declined to prosecute Raffaello Follieri, who was arrested in April for allegedly writing a $215,000 bad check.

Manhattan DA spokeswoman Tracy Golden tells PEOPLE that Follieri was cleared because he fully reimbursed John Morrongiello for the $215,000 check Follieri wrote him, and Morrongiello, of Colts Neck, N.J., no longer wishes to pursue the case.

Follieri, 29 – who has been dating Hathaway, 25, since 2004 – was expected to appear in Manhattan Criminal Court Monday.

Miley Cyrus: 'We're All Changing'

The two weeks since her Vanity Fair photo controversy have certainly been tough ones for Miley Cyrus – but they've also helped her evolve.

"We're all changing," the 15-year-old Cyrus told a screaming crowd Saturday onstage at KIIS-FM's Wango Tango concert in Irvine, Calif. "I thank you for helping me as I grow through that."

The Disney star did not address the controversy directly during her 30-minute set – and she successfully avoided reporters by skipping the red carpet. But – as she did similarly last weekend at an Orlando concert – Cyrus thanked fans for supporting her "through everything that's been going on in life."

Since the racy photos shot by Annie Leibovitz first drew public ire, numerous celebrities have come to Cyrus's defense, including Tyra Banks, Jamie Lee Curtis and The Hills's Whitney Port.

The Hannah Montana star has apologized for the provocative shot and vowed to "learn from my mistakes."

Paul McCartney & Heather Mills Granted Preliminary Divorce

A London High Court judge granted Paul McCartney and Heather Mills a "decree nisi" Monday, bringing their marriage one step closer to a formal end, a court spokesman confirms to PEOPLE.

Under British divorce law, the decree nisi is essentially a preliminary divorce. The McCartneys now must wait six weeks and one day to receive a decree absolute, which ends the marriage completely.

Justice Hugh Bennett ended the couple's marriage on grounds that they have been separated for two years. Neither McCartney, 65, nor Mills, 40, appeared in court.

The decree paves the way for Mills to receive her $48.6 million divorce settlement, which was granted in March.

McCartney married Mills in 2002, four years after the death of his first wife, Linda. The pair separated in May 2006 and McCartney filed for divorce in July of that year. They have a four-year-old daughter Beatrice.

Jennifer Love Hewitt's Summer Recipe: Chill for Wedding

Jennifer Love Hewitt wants to be the stay-at-home Ghost Whisperer this summer.

The actress, who announced her engagement to Scottish actor Ross McCall in November, says she is looking forward to a professional hiatus filled with time spent taking care of her fiancé as they plan their upcoming nuptials.

"This summer he's doing a film, and I'm fixing up the house and making him dinner," Love Hewitt, 29, said at the Step Up Women's Network's Inspiration Awards luncheon on Friday – where she was honored for her philanthropic accomplishments.

"I'm not a 1952 kind of gal all the way 'round," she says. "But little spurts of it is fine!"

McCall, 32, concurs. "I love it," he replied when asked about the proposed summer plans.

There were still no hints of a wedding date – Love Hewitt recently told PEOPLE she didn't want a wedding in the summer heat, because, "I won't be a sweaty bride" – but the happy couple is working as a team to plan the big day.

McCall describes himself as "very involved," while Love Hewitt says: "I think the biggest thing we've learned so far is we really want it to be ours. We want to celebrate it and enjoy it."

Kim Kardashian's Dark Secret: I Have a Jonas Brother Crush

Watch your back, Reggie Bush! The football star has been dating Kim Kardashian for about a year – but she admits she has feelings for another (young) man.

"We met the Jonas Brothers. Nick [Jonas] is so cute," Kardashian, 27, told PEOPLE Saturday backstage at KIIS-FM's Wango Tango concert, where the Jonas Brothers played to thousands of screaming fans.

"I don't think Reggie will get mad because [Nick] is, like, 15," noted the Keeping Up with the Kardashians star – whose family was on hand to introduce Miley Cyrus. "I really shouldn't say that he's cute. It's a little inappropriate! They're adorable."

But Bush proved that he's the real keeper, dutifully carting the couple's concert swag back to their car.

Hunt for the Crystal Skull Begins Early

Someone has beaten Indy to the punch.

A treasured crystal skull believed to be about 500 years old has vanished from its perch at Kindred Spirits, a New Age store in Claremont, Calif., that had been displaying the artifact in a non-Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull-related fashion for several months.

The store's owner, Persis Newland, reported the missing skull to police about two weeks ago but, despite the cops and the readily available tarot cards, no one has managed to crack the case yet.

Considering the close-knit, easygoing vibe of the customers she would call regulars, Newland figures the theft must be related to the mega-hyped Indiana Jones film, whose plot is inspired in part by an ancient Mayan legend concerning 13 crystal skulls that, all together, have the power to save the Earth.

The skull resting on the altar in Kindred Spirits' crystal-reading classroom wasn't that old, of course, but, despite the fact that most of the similar skulls in existence today can't be traced further back than the 1860s, some firmly believe in its palliative powers—at least within the confines of the store.

"He was on an altar, and he just enjoyed being here," employee Kristen Nestor told the Associated Press.

But while the action in the fourth Indy film has been kept tightly under wraps, the idea of an avid fan going a little overboard doesn't sound too farfetched.

"Someone must have thought about it in that term, connected with the movie or something," Newland said. "I have no idea why someone would take that and not the other things that are equally valuable on the altar."

Or, it's one down and 12 to go for someone hoping to get a head in life.

Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull, its classic theme music, the reunion of Karen Allen and Harrison Ford and Shia "Possibly Indy Jr." LaBeouf swing into theaters May 22 after a 19-year gap in the Steven Spielberg-directed series.

Woe, Speed Racer, Woe

As it turns out, Speed Racer didn't have a bad opening weekend. It had a worse one.

Final grosses out today show the big-budget, high-octane movie sputtered to a debut of just $18.6 million, down from the $20.2 million that was projected Sunday.

To top it off, Speed Racer dropped a spot in the rankings, falling to third, behind Iron Man and the newly upgraded No. 2 movie, What Happens in Vegas.

Jeff Bock, a box-office analyst for Exhibitor Relations Co., correctly predicted Sunday that Speed's wheels would really come off come Monday.

"Every studio except Warner Bros. estimated they'd be in third place [with Speed Racer]," Bock said today.

One of Speed's problems: Mother's Day.

While most of the weekend's top films, from Iron Man to Baby Mama, did bigger than expected Sunday business, Speed Racer didn't.

"It's a pretty bad sign in terms of long-term legs," Bock said. "It just doesn't look like the film has any."

Things aren't likely to get better for Speed, which cost a purported $100 million—at least—to make.

Box-office experts from Bock to Box Office Mojo's Brandon Gray predict the film will be lucky to make back half of its production budget from its domestic run.

"It should be a struggle to pass the $50 million line," Gray said today.

Even adding in its worldwide take, Speed Racer only grossed $31.2 million over the weekend, according to Box Office Mojo.

By comparison, Iron Man, which cost a reported $186 million, had its budget more than covered by its debut weekend. As of today, its worldwide take stands at $342.8 million.

Unlike Iron Man, Speed Racer never got its buzz going, this despite its lineage as a beloved 1960s cartoon and the presence of The Matrix's Andy and Larry Wachowski behind the camera.

"The movie lacked relevance," Gray said. "...It just wasn't that broadly appealing."

For Hollywood, at least, there is an upside to the downfall of Speed: According to Gray, its demise doesn't mean the overall summer box-office season is doomed.

Said Gray: "It just means Speed Racer did not do well."

Neil Young Is Spider Man

Forget that Peter Parker dude—when it comes to spidey sense, he's got nothing on Neil Young.

An East Carolina University professor has honored the Godfather of Grunge by naming a new species of trapdoor spider after him.

Myrmekiaphila neilyoungi is the technical name for the eight-legged critter discovered last year by ECU biologist Jason Bond in Jefferson County, Ala.

"There are rather strict rules about how you name new species," the scientist says in a press release. "As long as these rules are followed you can give a new species just about any name you please. With regards to Neil Young, I really enjoy his music and have had a great appreciation of him as an activist for peace and justice."

He's Doing It for the Money

Former Grey's Anatomy douchebag cast member Isaiah Washington has filed a complaint with the Screen Actors Guild against his former show.

What ticked off the ill-tempered star???

Well, it seems like ABC used a pic of his sorry ass mug in an episode of Grey's without his permission.

The character played by Washington, Dr. Preston Burke, was featured in a "newspaper article" about the character receiving a prestigious surgeon's award in an episode that first aired on May 9th.

A rep for Washington says, "They (Grey's) have the rights of the character to advance the story, but not the image," then adding that what he expects for his client is a "financial settlement."

So gross.

Spielberg Elects Lincoln

Now that he's got Indiana Jones out of his system, Steven Spielberg is ready to get serious again.

While making the PR rounds for Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull, the Oscar-winning filmmaker announced he's cast his vote for his next feature project: an Abraham Lincoln biopic, which could start shooting early next year.

Per Variety, Spielberg has postponed production on The Trial of the Chicago Seven, about the tumultuous 1968 Democratic National Convention, because he was unable to get a polished script due to the writers' strike.

But he does have a solid screenplay for Lincoln from Angels in America playwright (and Munich scribe) Tony Kushner.

First up, though, is Tintin, the opening installment in a trilogy of movies he and Peter Jackson are making based on the popular European comic strip. Then Spielberg will tackle Lincoln.

The Civil War epic will star Liam Neeson, who agreed to play the fallen president three years ago and has been cooling his heels waiting for the green light. After that, Spielberg will choose between Chicago Seven or the top-secret sci-fi tale he's been prepping, Interstellar.

R. Kelly Jury Selection on Track

Jury selection in R. Kelly's child pornography case is continuing in Chicago today, with attorneys for both sides expected to question roughly 150 potential jurors.

The prosecution and defense teams will question the Chi-town residents, who filled out a questionnaire on Friday, over their level of familiarity with the case, and determine whether they've been trapped under a rock—or, for poetic justice's sake, in a closet—for the past six years.

The first group of 10 has reported to the courthouse this morning for querying, while a second group of 10 will come this afternoon. Both sides estimate it should take roughly one week to winnow down 12 jurors and four alternates.

The 41-year-old R&B star faces child-pornography charges stemming from a videotape in which he allegedly engaged in sex acts with a girl who may have been as young as 13. The girl has denied the allegations and Kelly has pleaded not guilty.

Neverland Saved From Auction Block

Never say Neverland.

The seemingly perpetually indebted Michael Jackson narrowly escaped a foreclosure auction on his Neverland Ranch Sunday after the real-estate investment firm Colony Capital bought the loan to the property in a last-minute deal to save the estate.

The purchase of the 2,700-acre ranch was said to have set Colony back $23.5 million, and the company has wasted no time getting into discussions about possible repayment terms with the onetime king of pop, with founder Tom Barrack Jr. saying they were already speaking "with regard to the ranch and other matters."

A statement released by a Jackson spokesman said the singer was "pleased with recent developments involving Neverland" that would allow him to "focus on the future."

As it is, the Santa Barbara property was previously the domain of the Fortress Investment Group, who held the loan to the estate and who was set to auction off the sizable and infamous home—which, like Jackson himself, has seen better days—on May 14, after the star defaulted on a series of payments.

We're no financial planners, but he may want to go easy on the midnight Vegas shopping sprees for awhile.

Goodbye Wisteria Lane

Last night's episode of Desperate Housewives kinda caught fans by surprise!

Edie, the trouble making blonde bombshell played by Nicolette Sheridan, packed her bags and rode her convertible off into the sunset without a word about if she would (or would not) ever return.

Rumors of Sheridan's departure have been circulating for weeks, but both ABC and Sheridan's publicist have refused to address the rumors.

A character's end is sooo season finale material.

Edie peaced out in the second to last show of the season! That's why we're so surprised.

However, creator and executive producer Marc Cherry was slightly more forthcoming.

He says, yes, Edie's gone and "won't be back for a few years."

What could that mean?

So, Cherry was then asked if her return in "a few years" could have anything to do with another recent rumor that Desperate Housewives will adopt a "flash-forward" Lost-like narrative device, which could restore Edie's presence on Wisteria Lane sooner than expected.

"I only address one rumor at a time…We'll have to wait until next season and see," Cherry replied.

Hilary Duff’s Shopping Wars

Hilary Duff does a little Mother’s Day shopping on Robertson Blvd in Los Angeles on Saturday.

Hilary’s latest movie, War, Inc., is a dark political satire film starring John Cusack and Hilary Duff and directed by Joshua Seftel.

On working with John Cusack and Sir Ben Kingsley, Hilary told LA Confidential Magazine, “I’m really not shy at all, and since I’ve been working for such a long time, I’ve learned that when it’s time to not be shy, I go into autopilot or something. Being there with all of them…. They didn’t know what to expect of me and I didn’t know what to expect of them. We became such good friends. And working with John, he gives you such creative control. There was a superfun creative energy going around.”

How Sean Preston and Jayden James Met Their Mother

Before taking her own mother Lynne to dinner, Britney Spears spent some very special Mother's Day time with her boys yesterday. Sean Preston and Jayden James are growing up so fast, but they haven't outgrown their favorite little toy car to ride around in. From the smiles on her face, it looks like Britney got the love she needed from her adorable boys to keep her right on track to getting more visitation. In the meantime, we'll be enjoying her appearance on How I Met Your Mother tonight!

Lindsay and Samantha Patch Things Up in Paris

After a fun-filled weekend of modeling and partying in her leggings, Lindsay Lohan jetted off to Paris with Samantha for a little shopping and bakery hopping. Things seem to be fine with these two in BFFland, even though they had a little dispute last week that left LL in tears. Luckily the starlet still has a few things to help dry her eyes, like gearing up for her new album. Apparently she's going to break it down with Ryan Seacrest once it's all finished, and the American Idol host is already a fan of what he's heard so far. Between Lindsay's music and Dina's reality show, it looks like we're all in for a very Lohan Summer.

Sienna and Rhys Reunite in London

Sienna Miller flaunted her California tan in a sexy cut-out dress as she went to lunch with her fiancé Rhys Ifans on Saturday in London. Check out how to get her look here. Afterwards, they stopped to browse in a children's clothing shop — as a soon-to-be aunt and maybe future mother it's no surprise she's getting excited about baby things. The couple is reunited after spending time apart while she filmed G.I. Joe in the US, and from the looks of it, they seem to already be back to their London routine.

Halle Berry Is a Woman and a Mom, Hear Her Roar

New parent Halle Berry was ecstatic to announce her status as a mom at Saturday's 15th Annual EIF Revlon Run/Walk For Women in LA. The event raised money for women's cancer research and was a perfect way to honor Mother's Day apart from the usual flowers and cards. Halle was one of thousands of women and men out for the event, which was co-hosted by Carrie Ann Inaba and Tom Selleck. Little Nahla's a bit too young to participate just yet, but someday she'll be proud of her mama for being such an active participant for such a wonderful cause.

Britney's Mother's Day With Mom Before More Meeting Mothers

After spending all day Saturday and Sunday with her boys thanks to increased visitation privileges, Britney Spears headed out to Mother's Day dinner with her own mom Lynne at Sur in LA last night. Looks like a happy holiday for Brit, and this morning Kevin's lawyer, Mark Vincent Kaplan, went on the Today Show to talk about the new arrangement. On Britney and Kevin's relationship:

"If you're going to have two parents participate in the lives of raising their children . . . there has to be some camaraderie between them for that to be a meaningful expectation and reality. . . . When you go from where things were, when there was no visitation, to where they are now there will be some contact . . . there'd be some ability to exchange a camaraderie that is necessary and a function of co-parenting together."

Finally sounds like Britney and Kevin are in a good place working together to raise their boys. While he skirted around the question of the two doing TV together — questionable call? — we don't have long to wait to see Brit on the small screen again.

Cameron Diaz Gets Pretty for Pangea Day

Cameron Diaz took her sparkling smile and glittery Lanvin flats to Sony Studios on Saturday for Pangea Day. The event was the first ever global film festival. Cameron is on the board of what was a world-wide live event where leaders spoke, films were watched and music was performed. Cameron may not have scored number one at the box office this weekend with What Happens in Vegas, but still took in $20 mil so hopefully that will keep her smiling.
