Sex And The City Has Its First Premiere

Sarah Jessica Parker, Kim Cattrall, Kristin Davis and Cynthia Nixon were all on hand for the UK premiere of the much-anticipated Sex and the City movie which took place at Odeon Leicester Square in London, England today. I dunno what the hell possessed SJP to wear that ... thing ... on her head (it's not as if her co-stars prolly hate the fact that she already gets all the attention without her wearing a ridiculous hat to steal even more attention) but it will surely be the talk of the event. Here are pics of the SaTC ladies lookin' faboo on the red carpet earlier today:

As Carrie Bradshaw she enthralled women across the UK with her kooky style for six years. So it's no surprise Sarah Jessica Parker turned up for the movie premiere of Sex and the City with an attention grabbing hat. On top of her blonde curly hair, the green creation sat looking more like a bowl of fruit than a headpiece. Along with a pistachio prom-style dress, the 43-year-old showed she is still unafraid to pioneer a new style. The cast of Sex in the City wore a mixture of English and American designers to the world premier last night. Sarah wore Alexander McQueen, Kristen Davis opted for vintage and Cynthia Nixon chose a Calvin Klein gown and Chopard diamond and sapphire necklace, earrings and ring worth 200,000, while Kim Cattrall wore Vivienne Westwood. The film of the HBO tv show has been hotly anticipated since it went into production last year. The film finds friends Carrie (Parker), Samantha, (Kim Cattrall), Charlotte (Kristin Davis) and Miranda (Cynthia Nixon) continuing to juggle work and relationships, while navigating motherhood. Chris Noth reprises his role as Carrie's Mr Big, David Eigenberg is Miranda's down-to-earth husband Steve, Evan Handler plays Charlotte's dependable husband Harry, and Jason Lewis makes a showing as actor Smith - Samantha's devoted lover. When pressed to give some clue as to the film's content, Parker said it was "about forgiveness and pursuing love in a way that is real and meaningful". "I think it's about what it means to be a grown-up, and to recognise your own complicity and disappointment," the BBC previously reported her as saying. "I think in your 20s you spend a lot of time making the boys the villains. "There's a difference when you're 40. You really experience loss and disappointment and you have to reconcile what part you played in it."

Um, what? I was under the impression the movie would be about sex and shoes and shopping and sex and cosmos and sex and fashion and sex ... was I wrong? Man, I just know the movie is gonna rule ... the early buzz is that the film turned out just the way fans hoped it would turn out. We are still a little over 2 weeks away from the film's release here in the US and there are still a few more premieres in the meantime. I wonder what sort of crazy accessories SJP has planned for the other red carpets to come.

Mama Mia

A whole slew of celeb moms spent Mother's Day weekend with their children engaged in various activities ... from soccer games, to visits to the zoo, to really simple play dates at the park, here are a few pics of a few famous moms (and a couple of famous tag-along dads) hanging out with their kiddies this past weekend:

Katie Holmes spent part of her Mother's Day weekend with her husband Tom Cruise and her child-like offspring Suri Holmes-Cruise (along with her step Cruise children Connor and Isabella) at the Home Depot Center in Carson, CA watching David Beckham and the LA Galaxy lose to the New York Red Bulls on Saturday evening. Gwen Stefani spent her Saturday afternoon with her husband Gavin Rossdale and her adorable little son Kingston James at the LA Zoo. Liv Tyler spent Sunday with her son Milo (just days after she announced that she and her hubby Langdon are dunzo) and a happy Cate Blanchett enjoyed her first mother's day with her almost a month-old son Ignatius. All the mommy's look so happy, whatever their circumstance (impending divorce for one of them, enduring incarceration for another) ... it looks like it was a great weekend for all these lovely ladies.

Over in Monaco ... Angelina Jolie took her daughters Zahara and Shiloh Nouvel Jolie-Pitt (along with the rumored twin girls she is carrying in her womb) for a shopping spree:

Unfortch for Zahara, the trip looked like a total bore. Shiloh didn't look bored so much as she looked ... angelic. Man, that little girl is gonna be a stunner.

Michelle Williams celebrated Mother's Day Sunday at a park in Brooklyn, NY with her daughter Matilda Rose ... the first Mother's Day since Matilda's daddy Heath Ledger passed away. Despite the somberness of the occasion, it looks like Michelle and Matilda had a fun day nonetheless:

I am very happy to see that both Michelle and Matilda are doing well so soon after Heath's passing. I imagine Father's Day might be a bit tougher to endure but I'm sure the resolve of both Michelle and Matilda will be able to carry them thru. Again, Happy Mother's Day to all the moms out there ... I hope it was a great one for all y'all!!

Girl Fight
What's this? Reports of in-fighting among the castmembers of the hit CW show Gossip Girl? Hmmm ... well, the bitching in-fighting is actually not happening among the castmembers that you might imagine. The Gossip Guys are the ones who are getting pissy with one another ... and it's all that Dreamy McDreamboat Chace Crawford's fault -- well, according to the New York Daily News:

Catfights are a-brewin' on the set of "Gossip Girl." But this time, it ain't the ladies who are clawing each other's eyes out. The show's men, Chace Crawford, Penn Badgley and Ed Westwick, are battling over screen time and general media attention. The problem? Audiences have gone gaga for Chace. The girls and the gays alike have brought the buzz his way, thanks to smoldering good looks and boyish charm. "Penn was supposed to be the show's break-out star and now it is obviously Chace, and Penn doesn't like it," said one insider. In last week's episode, Chace got no screen time at all while Penn was featured prominently. But jealousy still reared its head Monday night at the Met's Costume Institute ball. Both Penn and Chace walked the red carpet, but it was Chace who was mobbed - and (OMG) invited to George Clooney's after-party at Bungalow 8. To make matters worse, the king and queen of Hollywood, Tom Cruise and Katie Holmes, gushed all over him. "Tom and Katie went up to Chace to say how much they love him and the show. They didn't talk to any of the other cast members," our spy snitched. "Penn didn't get any love."

Shoot ... I know I'm jealous of Chace Crawford's dreaminess and I'm not even on the damn show. To be honest, I totally believe that the other guys are envious of his breakout star status on the show. Yes, Penn Badgley is a "main character" but Chace breezes in and out of scenes, lookin' practically perfect in every way ... he manages to steal the viewer's attention -- and he's not even trying to. I don't believe that Chace is an attention-hog ... he's just too purdy to not snatch up all the attention. Tho ... Penn should really look on the bright side -- you do not want to be on Tom's "gush list" ... ever! Hee hee ... isn't it great to know that guys can be just as bitchy jealous as the supposed "divas" can be? LOL!

OMFG! Heidi & Spencer Skip a Hills Party?

UPDATE: I just heard back from Montag's rep on why she wasn't at the party.

Two words: "Not invited."

________________________

Photo-opportunists Heidi Montag and Spencer Pratt are no-shows at the Hills season finale party happening right now at a private mansion in Beverly Hills.

That's weird, right?

“It’s not weird to me,” Lauren "L.C." Conrad told reporters as she walked into the party.

Conrad also insisted she had nothing to do with it one way or another. Montag's missed big parties for the MTV hit series before, including one in L.A. and another in NYC.

“I have no control over the guest list,” Conrad said.

But Pratt's sister, Stephanie, is in the house...

And she just revealed she wants to get into the fashion biz like Conrad, Montag and Whitney Port. Handbags are her thing.

“I love purses,” she said. “Pockets are so important to me, because I have a hundred lip glosses. So [the purses] will have hundreds of pockets and chains and, I think, a mix of leather and suede. But don’t tell anyone, because that’s my vision.”

Oops, too late.

As for the party, it’s at a secret location where guests are being shuttled to and from the Beverly Center mall. There’s a stage set up for Usher’s performance after the screening of the finale.

Brody Jenner just showed up, as did Audrina Patridge. Everyone is rushing to go watch the show.

Oh, wouldn’t it be fab if Heidi and Spencer showed up? With or without them, I’m sure I’ll have more dishy details for you as the night goes on.

Enjoy the show!

Uh Oh!

The new Sex & The City film premiered in London on Monday night and…

The movie is getting mixed reviews. Not good!

The well-respected Times only gave the pic 2 out of 5 stars!

Here are some highlights of what their critic has to say:

- There may be a problem with a film when a narrator constantly tells you the meaning of what you have just seen, gift-wrapping each scene with a moral.

- There may be a problem with stretching Sex and the City into a two hour and twenty minute film - it can feel like a never ending dinner party: however pleasant the courses, after a while you can hardly eat another one.

It should be noted, however, that the reviewer was a guy.

We're assuming he wasn't gay!

Lauren Conrad's BFF History

Kristin Cavallari
Rivals since their days fighting over Stephen Colletti on Laguna Beach, the actress attended Conrad's first L.A. Fashion Week show in March. "Me and Lauren have been cool for a long time, and I'm really proud of her and wanted to support her today," she told Us.

Brody Jenner
The pair dated for a month but his wandering eye caused their split in November 2006. In the premiere of the most recent season, Jenner and Conrad almost rekindled their relationship but his prompt rebound with a new girlfriend ended that. She told Us: "When you have that type of thing, you always have to question, 'Why wasn't I good enough?"

Audrina Patridge
Patridge recently dismissed talk of tension between her and Conrad over Conrad's close friendship with Lo Bosworth. "It's not like, 'Boo hoo, feel bad for Audrina," she said on Ryan Seacrest's KIIS-FM radio show."Sometimes on the show, things come across differently."

Stephen Colletti
The long-time friends dated in high school (during their Laguna Beach days) and had a brief fling earlier this year. Conrad insisted to Us they are "just friends."

Nicole Richie
Despite reportedly feuding over Brody Jenner – whom they both dated – the gals became besties in October 2007. When The Simple Life star gave birth to daughter Harlow in January, Conrad told Us her pal was "surprised" because she didn't know she was having a girl.

Lo Bosworth
Bosworth has been Conrad's most loyal confidante and counselor from their days on Laguna Beach through the current season of The Hills. They are currently roommates with Audrina Patridge.

Both have vehemently denied they recorded a sex tape that Heidi Montag and Spencer Pratt claim existed. "Lauren is my friend... and it is insulting to her to suggest this," he told Us.

Whitney Port
"It's like being a friend to anybody else - We all go through problems," the squeaky clean former Teen Vogue intern - who will launch a fashion line this fall - has said of Conrad.

Chris Richardson
The American Idol season 6 finalist was romantically linked to Conrad and Lindsay Lohan in the spring of 2007. "Those people are just my friends and acquaintances," he told Us.

British Bachelor Matt Chooses Shayne

On the season finale of "The Bachelor: London Calling," MATT GRANT gave away his final rose, proposing to 22-year-old actress SHAYNE.

"I know when I look in those beautiful brown eyes that you'll always be there for me and I hope that you know that I'll always be there for you," Matt cooed, before getting down on one knee and continuing, "Shayne, I love you and I have something for you. Monkey, will you marry me?"

Shayne, the daughter of actor LORENZO LAMAS, didn't disappoint him, replying ecstatically, "Yes, I will marry you -- Matt, I love you!"

The cheeky former soap star did give him one caveat, saying she'd only marry him if: "You will never look at another woman for the rest of our lives because you have looked at way too many during our relationship."

The runner-up out of 25 hopefuls was 25-year-old pharmaceutical sales rep CHELSEA, who angrily told Matt that Shayne was the most fake person of the bunch, before Matt escorted her to her limo.

Britney Spears Involved in Minor Car Accident

Britney Spears was involved in a minor car accident Tuesday afternoon, when she rear-ended a red Ford Explorer in Beverly Hills.

"I think she was just distracted," said a witness. "She just tapped the other car in front of her."

Spears, 26, was at the wheel of her white Mercedes-Benz SL65 when she left her Studio City home for an afternoon drive. Shortly thereafter, she rear-ended the SUV.

Her bodyguard, who was sitting shotgun, got out and apparently gave a business card to the other driver, a female. Police were not involved.

Witnesses say the driver of the Explorer followed Spears back to her gated community to exchange information, apparently suggested by the bodyguard to avoid press attention.

Spears was involved in a fender bender in L.A. just last month on April 12.

Al Reynolds: I Married Star Jones For Love

Al Reynolds is opening up – a little – about his split from Star Jones, saying he's saddened by the breakup.

"I know in my heart that I entered my marriage with love and the best of intentions and leave it with great sadness that it didn't work," writes Reynolds in a MySpace post Tuesday.

Jones, 46, filed for divorce from Reynolds, 37, last month. She didn't give a reason for the split, but Jones said she made "an error in judgment" by inviting the media into their lavish 2004 wedding.

In his MySpace post, Reynolds also declined to discuss the reasons for the divorce, but made it clear that he was hurt by the media coverage.

"If you think you are having a tough day, may I propose you walk in my shoes for a few hours," he writes. "In my mind, it feels like 'Dump on Al Month.' And I'm not having fun yet. I have been called a gigolo, a freeloader, unemployed, a sham and many other things that don't bear repeating. People on television, radio and the internet have spoken disparagingly of my life, my sexuality, my career and my integrity."

He says that few people truly know him, and may have some misconceptions from news reporting of his partying. "I indeed work very hard as a professor, business owner, doctoral student and author. I play hard too," he says. "I make no apologies for that. A guy is entitled to a little fun, after all."

He adds the media has "barraged" his home, his friends and his family, including his 79-year-old mother, but that he remains convinced that he should not discuss the divorce.

"As much as I want to defend myself, it seems like a silly and futile exercise," he writes. "It's clear that the media doesn't want to let the truth get in the way of a good story. I hate to ruin their fun. I take great comfort in the fact that my loved ones and those people who really know me continue to love and respect me."

Reynolds notes that before he met Jones he was a successful banker and is now "working to take my knowledge and experience of the business world and use it to empower and enlighten working class Americans who are often ‘left behind’ by traditional financial advice."

He's also completing his doctorate in organizational leadership and teaching at Florida Memorial University.

"What I want people to know is that I am not the caricature portrayed by the media. I am complex, contradictory and capable of great intelligence but also remarkable stupidity," he writes. "In other words, I am a human being. To me, labels are for clothes, not people. So ... Please don't try to define me; don't try to categorize me; and most of all, don't label me. Instead, JUST GET TO KNOW ME. And if you see me, just call me Al."

Kelly & Donna Together Again? Tori Spelling in Talks for New 90210

Tori Spelling, who played Donna Martin on the original Beverly Hills, 90210, is in negotiations with the CW about reprising her role in the network’s upcoming spin-off, which recently cast Jennie Garth as a counselor at West Beverly High.

“Jennie is already on board for the series and we have been in touch about it,” Spelling tells PEOPLE exclusively. “I would love to see our characters Kelly and Donna together again and get the chance to work with my friend again.”

The principal characters for the show have been cast for the pilot except Harry Mills, patriarch of the Mills family who moves his family from Kansas to Beverly Hills so he can take care of his alcoholic mother.

Since the network’s announcement that a spin-off was in the works, Spelling has expressed an interest in the show that originally set the standard for teen drama and featured fan-favorites Kelly, Dylan and Brenda.

“It was always my dad’s dream and intention to make a new 90210 before he passed, so I know he is proud and he would be even more proud if I were a part of it,” said Spelling, 34, of her father, TV producer Aaron Spelling. “I truly hope for the fans’ sake that it all works out!”

A rep for the CW told PEOPLE, “At this point, there is nothing to report.”

Currently, Spelling and her husband Dean McDermott are currently shooting her reality show, Tori & Dean: Home Sweet Hollywood. The show premieres June 17 on Oxygen.

Idol Producer Speaks About Backstage Ban for David Archuleta’s Dad

American Idol producer Nigel Lythgoe is breaking his silence on the controversy surrounding David Archuleta’s father, Jeff — and explaining why he lost his backstage privileges at the Fox show.

“He has been asked not to participate in the choice of music with David or be in the room when David is working out his routines that he wants to sing,” Lythgoe tells Entertainment Weekly. “He’s fine to be in the studio — nothing wrong with that. We just want David to be able to be free like everybody else to get on and do what they want to do.”

Some alleged that it’s unfair that other contestants do not have a similar figure to guide them in their performance choices. Lythgoe explained that it’s important for the remaining contestants to have equal opportunities.

“If that’s fairness, fine,” he says. “But this is more of just the fact of ‘let’s take some pressure away here,’ you know? It’s like anybody appearing in front of their mom and dad. Let’s just open up the pressure cooker, release the pressure, and you just get on and do what you gotta do.”

But Lythgoe was quick to clear up rumors that Jeff Archuleta is a pushy “stage dad.” Said Lythgoe: “What is a stage dad, or a stage mom? It’s someone who’s protective. That’s all.”

Archuleta’s camp also dismissed the “stage dad” talk. David’s vocal coach, Dean Kaelin, told PEOPLE in an email: “David’s dad is just a caring, concerned parent that fortunately has some musical expertise, and some people fear that because of this David receives an unfair advantage.”

The Bachelor Winner Poses For Girls Gone Wild Magazine

She may be engaged, but The Bachelor: London Calling winner Shayne Lamas — who got a ring from Matt Grant Monday night — isn’t buttoning up: She’s poised to make her print debut on the cover of Girls Gone Wild magazine.

Mariah Tells Ellen She'll Have Another Wedding

Mariah Carey, who recently wed Nick Cannon in a small ceremony in the Caribbean, says the pair plan to get married again.

"Instead of trying to be like, 'you're invited, but, shhh, don't tell anybody,' we're just going to have another [wedding] next year," Carey told Ellen DeGeneres on her talk show Tuesday. "[Nick's] plan is to have one every year."

Those who attended the first beachside ceremony, she continues, were, "mainly people there to do my hair and help me with the dress." Both Carey and Cannon only brought along three friends each because, "we wanted to be on the beach and we didn’t want other people taking pictures," said Carey.

On the shock of the wedding and the publicity stunt rumors, Carey told DeGeneres, "We both experienced the hoopla of trying to make something a publicity stunt, which is what everybody thinks, and will think anyway, but we don't really care about that."

Looking to the future, Carey said she's found the man she wants to have kids with. "My parents divorced when I was three and I didn't have many examples of what was the 'norm,' " she says. But with Cannon, she says, "I found the right person."

Kim Kardashian & Siblings Deny Abusing Brandy's AmEx

Kim Kardashian and her siblings denied allegations they improperly ran up more than $120,000 in charges on the credit card used by R&B singer Brandy Norwood's mother, according to court papers.

In an answer to the Superior Court lawsuit filed by Sonja Norwood in Los Angeles, the Kardashians "deny generally and specifically each and every allegation," the papers say.

Norwood's lawsuit, which also names Kardashian's siblings Khloe, Kourtney and Robert Jr., alleges they ran up the charges in 2006 and 2007. It seeks the return of the money plus 10 percent interest.

Kim Kardashian had access to the American Express card when she worked as a stylist for Brandy in 2004 (Brandy's brother, Ray J, also appeared in the infamous sex tape with Kim). Norwood claims Kim later passed on the card number to her siblings, who also allegedly made unauthorized charges.

Taylor Swift and Her Mom Go Promming

Taylor Swift was the guest of honor at a prom-themed party in Nashville on Monday night, but it was the prom queen's mom who stole the show.

The country singer's eyes popped open in surprise when she caught sight of her mother, Andrea, in the crowd of gown-and-tuxedoed guests dressed up as an over-the-top gym teacher-chaperone in a dowdy black dress, white socks, sneakers, and false teeth.

Props? She had hung a whistle around her neck and clutched a clipboard marked with the stern warning: "No Kissing On The Dance Floor!"

"Taylor told me I would have to wear one of those big dresses and I just couldn't do it," Andrea told PEOPLE. "But I wanted to go along with the theme. I came up with this instead. She didn't even recognize me when she came in!"

Swift, 18, attended the Hillcrest High School prom in Tuscaloosa, Ala. on April 19 as part of MTV's Once Upon a Prom program (airing June 12th) but missed her own Hendersonville High gala on May 3.

She specifically asked for a prom theme for the fete, which was to celebrate her first No. 1 hit, "Our Song," and the multi-platinum status of her self-titled debut album.

But according to Andrea, the evening was all about the dress – a baby blue ballerina-styled confection of satin and tulle.

"She is wearing the dress she wore in the video for 'Our Song'," says her mother, "She loves that dress and always said it would make the perfect prom dress, so this was her chance."

Swift accessorized with sling-back silver shoes, a rhinestone tiara, a wrist corsage, and a school ring on a gold chain around her neck.

Is there a secret steady for the girl who says she hasn't kissed a boy in months?

"No!" she said, with a laugh.

"My mom gave [the ring] to me to wear. I guess it used to mean you were going steady? I think it might be my dad's school ring."

Emile Hirsch Loses His Talent (Agency)

Emile Hirsch has ditched his agent faster than you can say "box-office flop."

A source tells E! News the 23-year-old actor, who won raves for his performance as society-shunner Chris McCandless in Into the Wild before dumbing down for the widely panned Speed Racer, has fired United Talent Agency's Shari Rosenzweig.

Our insider drew no direct connection between Hirsch's latest career move and the disappointing $18.6 million Speed Racer took in during its mega-hyped opening weekend (which included a major arse-whooping from the week-old Iron Man), but would only confirm that "he is not represented by UTA anymore. He has dropped his agent."

But it's not as if UTA didn't keep Hirsch working during the seven years he was there. Aside from his haunting turn in Into the Wild, his credits also include roles in the porn-star-neighbor comedy The Girl Next Door, the true-crime drama Alpha Dog, the skateboarding romp Lords of Dogtown, and the indie ensemble The Air I Breathe.

Sarah Jessica Parker on Sex, Shoes and Miley Cyrus

Sarah Jessica Parker jetted to England a couple of days ago for the start of an almost two-week European tour in support of Sex and the City through London, Berlin and Paris.

But before you think how Carrie Bradshaw it all sounds, you should know she doesn’t like being away from hubby Matthew Broderick and 5-year-old son James Wilkie for too long.

So she has a plan to keep in touch with her little man. "I speak to him probably three times a day, and we have a whole system of staying in touch,” Parker told me over the phone from London. "And Matthew is, I must say, brilliantly handling things. I’m so impressed!"

Sweet, no? So then let's get to the Sex, shall we? Read on for my exclusive one-on-one with SJP. We talk about Mr. Big, her favorite SATC episode and why her son won’t be watching the hit HBO series for many more years to come...

How many outfits do you bring with you for the press tour?
[Laughs.] Probably more than is necessary. But they’ve really got us busy over there, and we have a lot of work to do, so we are required to wear clothes. It’s the law. That’s how I rationalize it.

Did you watch some of the episodes to get back into your role for the movie?
Any excuse to not look at myself is preferable. And in my opinion, the script just really stood on its own. [Director and writer] Michael Patrick King has such skill in telling these women’s stories. We didn’t have any time to rehearse at all, so he said to all of us, “You all have been rehearsing for six years.” It’s strange how much muscle memory there is in a role.

The new issue of Vogue just came out with you on the cover. The shots of you and Chris Noth are amazing. The chemistry is still there.
It was incredibly easy with Chris. We stay in touch, we email, and we’re really good friends, and I just adore him. I just adore being around him.

I asked a bunch of friends what they would ask if they could ask you one question, and at least five said they wanted to know which your favorite episode was.
I’m very bad at picking favorites, because I’m one of eight kids and I always heard my mother saying, “I will never pick a favorite among the eight.” But I have particular fondness for the early episodes, because we were just figuring out how we wanted to tell these stories. One episode in particular is “Valley of the Twenty-Something Guys,” because it’s kind of dark and there’s something very fresh about the storytelling.

When did you realize SATC would continue to be popular after the series ended? Even Miley Cyrus was recently quoted saying Sex and the City is her favorite show.

What?! Is that right?

Yeah.
Gosh, wow! When we were shooting the second season, I started seeing visual things that I realized were a connection to the show. You know, nameplate necklaces that hadn’t been worn in this generation yet.

And all those shoes.
Yes, and the shoes. I recall waiting for my luggage at a baggage carousel, and a man came up almost slightly embarrassed and whispered in my ear, “I really like your show.” I thought, Well we’ve even reached the men in some way.

You started out very young, so do you think you would have come out as normal as you are if things were like they are today with the Internet and the paparazzi?

I think it’s very hard. It’s hard enough to be 15, but to be scrutinized and followed and not being able to kind of grow up on your own and not being able to make mistakes privately, I think, is very hard on a young person.

Let’s talk about Broadway. When are we going to see you in a musical again?
It depends on schedules and my son’s life and can I be home to put him to bed? And who’s going to be home to put him to bed? I mean, I can’t be on stage if Matthew’s on stage. We can’t both be gone from the house. There’s going to come a time when our son wants us to be gone from the house, but not yet. He actually still likes us and wants us around.

So that means you may not do Broadway for another 10 years or so?
In 10 years, he’ll be old enough to babysit for himself, so yes.

Where do you keep all your awards? There are a lot!
I have them affectionately cluttered on a shelf in my office.

Does James Wilkie try to play with them?
You know, they’re not even at eye-level. I think I’m not someone who would have them in a family area or where guests come. We don’t even really put pictures of ourselves up in the house. We have lots of pictures of our son, though.

When will he be allowed to start watching Sex and the City?
When he’s 21.

I could just imagine he’s going to be like, "Mom, what am I supposed to tell my friends about this?"
I don’t think that any of them will even know who we are. I’m just the lady paying for the birthday party at that point.

Tell me about the new Sex and the City book.
You know, we haven’t talked about it with anyone else. We did this book for the movie, and what is amazing that no one realizes is that we had to go to print before the final cut of the movie. So there are scenes in the book that are cut from the movie. I just got my first copy, and it’s kind of unbelievable, because it’s like a version on paper of a director’s cut.

I have to tell you that us gay boys are going crazy for the movie. Two people have asked me today if I have a ticket for opening day. It's like a gay bar mitzvah. And you know what, it's already sold out in Hollywood. We have to go to the Valley!

Oh, that’s even better! There’s great Mexican food in the Valley. But that’s great! I hope it makes you all happy. I hope we’ve done right by our audience.

Hey, Sam, What's on Your Neck?

“She could have covered it up and hid it with a scarf or something but obviously felt no need to," the source says.

Which makes us wonder: Is that a hickey? A blow-dart welt? A troublesome rash? What do you think?

Move Over, Batman. We Got Barrymore

Drew Barrymore: Hollywood star and budding crimefighter.

The actress was cruising the mean streets of West Hollywood Monday morning when her car was tagged by another vehicle.

The rear-ended Barrymore was not injured, says West Hollywood Sheriff's Lt. Lajana Haselrig, but the actress seemingly took offense when the other motorist sped from the scene without exchanging insurance information...or even asking for an autograph.

Our hero apparently took off after the hit-and-runner, tailing the baddie long enough to jot down his license plate number.

The offending motorist remains at large, says Haselrig, who wouldn't confirm that Barrymore gave chase.

But the officer acknowledges that someone (wink-wink) did provide the digits: "We have a plate and it is currently under investigation."

All in a day's work for one of Charlie's Angels.

Scott Weiland Pilots Out of Jail

That heavily hyped Stone Temple Pilots reunion is still a go.

Scott Weiland, the alt-rock band's sobriety-challenged vocalist, was released from a Los Angeles-area lockup Monday evening, just six hours after checking in. Weiland was supposed to serve an eight-day sentence stemming from a November DUI bust.

The 40-year-old frontman was released from the Van Nuys Jail at approximately 6:45 p.m., according to a spokeswoman for the Los Angeles County Jail.

That's good news for fans, since the blotter-friendly "Plush" singer is getting out in time to join his STP mates for their first concert in more than five years this Saturday at the Rock on the Range Festival in Columbus, Ohio.

Weiland pleaded no contest April 28 to misdemeanor driving under the influence for plowing his Mercedes into another vehicle last year. He was sentenced to 192 hours in the clink, placed on four years' probation, ordered to complete an alcohol-education program and fined $2,000.

Just days before learning his punishment, his other band, Velvet Revolver, fired the much-rehabbed rocker, citing "his increasingly erratic onstage behavior and personal problems."

Shia LaBeouf: "I've Never Worked So Hard"

Shia LaBeouf is looking pretty lethargic on the new GQ cover. But maybe we should cut him some slack.

After all, the 21-year-old actor does tell the mag that when it came to prepping for Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull, he "never worked so hard for anything in my life. I did four months of sword fighting and bike training. And I spent insane amounts of time on the switchblade."

Not to mention the relentless razzing from his buddies when it comes to his personal life, like the time a rumor began circulating that he was dating Rihanna.

"My friends were like, 'Are you serious, bro? Why didn't you tell me about that?' I was like, 'I really don't know her like that.' For weeks they were singing that "Umbrella" song everywhere I walked. And those are my people!"

Ugh, nice pals, Shia. The least they could have done was nag you with that "Don't Stop the Music" tune instead.

The veteran rockers are getting ready to enter the digital world on their own terms (cough, Napster, cough), launching Mission: M.e.t.a.llica, a new website to allow fans "fly on the wall" access to the recording of their long-awaited new album (due in September), offering exclusive content, song teasers and video of sessions.

The site, which touts a platinum level but for the time being carries no price tag, launched today with a three-minute clip of the band recording and goofing around in the studio.

Among other temptations offered on the site are contests to win a pair of backstage passes to every show of the upcoming tour, kicking off Wednesday in Los Angeles.

In a pitch to fans to sign up for the pay service, the band says, "See what it's all about...get that platinum thing we told you about and in general, bring it the f--k on!"

Sex and the City...and the iPod

HBO was right: It's not TV. If it were, it'd be a little cheaper.

The cable net has announced plans to make available its small-screen offerings on an even smaller screen as HBO programming finally makes its way to iTunes, albeit at a slightly higher premium.

Sex and the City, whose download debut not so coincidentally comes just in time for it to cash in on the film's buzz, will be available for the traditional $1.99 per episode fee, as will Flight of the Conchords and The Wire. But HBO has upped the ante for The Sopranos, Deadwood and Rome, charging their fans $2.99 an episode.

Guess not all shows are created—or priced—equal.

The shows debut online today, and in addition to HBO's bucking of Apple's otherwise uniform price policy, they will also break from tradition in terms of when the shows are made available for download to avoid undermining their pay cable service.

Unlike other broadcast and cable networks, HBO will not release individual episodes for iTunes download the day after they air. Their customers will have to wait until a given series' entire season is made available on DVD.

Ashlee and Pete's "Flash" of Greatness?

Having trouble understanding what Ashlee Simpson and Pete Wentz see in each other? This won’t help.

The betrothed couple blabbered about their beginnings on L.A. radio station STAR 98.7 FM this morning, with Wentz complaining that Ashlee kept him “in the friend zone” for a full year.

Ashlee so completely didn’t notice Pete that, after they had already met, he had to email her a photo of him to jog her memory. (Guess she wasn’t a Fall Out Boy fan back then.)

But things apparently took off quickly after that: “The first time we hung out she flashed me,” Pete says.

“I lifted my dress over my head for him,” Ashlee says. “So it was love at first sight.”

And we bet he’s been wearing her panties ever since.

Jessica Alba Gets Allure-ing

For someone not always (OK, never) seen as a serious thespian, Jessica Alba certainly has the "lady doth protest too much" routine down pat.

The 27-year-old mama-to-be attempts to set the record straight on her career priorities in the new issue of Allure: Commerce over art every time, unless there's a bikini involved.

When asked why she hasn't appeared in more independent, art-house fare, the expectant star gives a refreshingly candid answer, if not one that'll likely keep Sundance at bay for quite some time.

"To me, box office is the most important thing," she says. "If the movie makes money, then I'm fine."

You gotta give the girl some credit for honesty.

"I grew up not having a lot. I'm really happy to be making money, not depending on a man, and not having to suffer to survive in this business. Struggling is not fun. Been there, done that."

Despite her share of skimpily clad roles, Alba grouses about being objectified.

"They always play up your sexuality, because that's what gets men into the theaters," she says. "And I never really gave a s--t about all that stuff!"

Though not, it should be said, due to any prudish reservations about the topic.

"I don't think sex is a big deal. I hated the hypocrisy of it. Men can do whatever, and it's acceptable."

There again Alba is putting her money where her mouth is, possibly winning over a more feminist base, but effectively writing herself out of any future safe-sex endorsement campaigns. Not that there's any money in PSAs, anyway.

"I can't say it was a total accident, because you're aware of when you're being careful and when you're not," the knocked-up star says of the bun in her ever-expanding oven. "It just happened so soon!"

"It," of course, being her gestating celebuspawn with fiancé Cash Warren, a pregnancy that Alba is the first to admit hasn't gone entirely smoothly.

"I kicked him out, but it wasn't like that—totally. When you're pregnant, your emotions are more tense. If the shoes are in the wrong place, you kind of lose your mind. Then he just laughs, gives me a hug and tells me it's okay."

And, we'll assume, hides the bikinis.

ABC Has Scrubs' Back

Scrubs lives. As does just about every ABC show.

Yes, ABC show.

As E! OnlineTV Diva Kristin Dos Santos reported yesterday, the long-running NBC comedy, jettisoned by that network earlier this year, will be picked up by ABC, with Zach Braff, Sarah Chalke and cast intact.

The move was formally announced today as ABC unveiled a new fall schedule that looked a lot like last fall's schedule.

Eli Stone was the rare addition, with the Jonny Lee Miller drama earning a slot after a midseason launch this year.

For Boston Legal, the good news is that the Emmy-winner won a fifth season. The bad news is ABC Entertainment President Steve McPherson confirmed to reporters that the season would be the quirky legal show's last.

Another notable pickup: According to Jim, surviving the death of the sitcom, and the dearth of a regular time slot to see an eighth season. Like Scrubs, and the returning Lost, the Jim Belushi comedy will air sometime midseason.

In all, the fall will see the launch of only two new shows: the Ashton Kutcher-executive produced game-reality hybrid Opportunity Knocks and Life on Mars, ABC's take on a BBC series about a modern-day police detective who suddenly finds himself in 1973.

ABC also announced two brand-new midseason shows: The Goode Family, an animated series from King of the Hill's Mike Judge, and an untitled, offbeat beauty pageant competition hatched by Tyra Banks and the ever-busy Kutcher.

Fewer than half a dozen fall shows from last year failed to receive invites to 2008-09. The casualties: Carpoolers, Big Shots, Women's Murder Club, Men in Trees and the late, arguably not-so-great Cavemen.

Midseason shows that didn't make the cut include Cashmere Mafia and October Road. Oprah's Big Give also won't be back, but McPherson called that an Oprah call.

Overall, McPherson termed the slate an "incredibly stable schedule—a schedule that dominated in the fall. We were winning until the strike."

Not to mention the return of Fox's American Idol, which actually wasn't mentioned.

Scheduling-wise, there were no great time-slot shifts. About the biggest innovation was awarding steady reality performers Wife Swap and Supernanny fall slots, and letting them make up the all-new "TGIF" on Fridays.

McPherson called Scrubs "a great addition," defending the ABC Studios-produced show's lower-than-Big Shots ratings by saying the comedy had journeyed through 17 different time slots during its tenure on NBC.

Why Did the Road End? What's Next for Betty and Grey's? ABC Boss Speaks

Just got back from a chat session with ABC's big cheese Steve McPherson, where we dug into today's fall schedule announcement, what lies ahead for some of our favorite shows and stars—and why he didn't bring back two fan favorites.

Here's what we learned:

Scrubs Is Moving to ABC (Duh): In the reveal of what is perhaps the worst-kept secret in the Industry, McPherson announced that ABC will air 18 episodes of Scrubs this fall. "Given the fact that it's been moved 17 times and still doing better than any other NBC comedy on Thursday than The Office...We think it's really a great addition for us." Holler.

Ted on How I Met Your Mother Is Screwed: McPherson confirms that Sarah Chalke is most definitely back on Scrubs for the new season on ABC. Full-time. Stelllllaaaa! If she is the mother, Ted's gonna have to wait.

Men in Trees and October Road Are Gone:
On behalf of all you heartbroken fans (I feel your pain), I asked McPherson if this call was made purely from a ratings standpoint. "It was, yeah," he replied. "It was a really hard decision. I think both shows were incredibly well done and we have a fantastic relationship with (Men in Trees creator) Jenny Bicks. We're hoping to do some great things with her. But even when we gave it a pretty decent run on Thursday, I would have loved to see it pop."

As for October Road: "It was like the little engine that could. It was a pilot that was picked up late and the series was picked up late. It was a terrific show—it just had a very, very small but dedicated core audience. [Road producers] [Josh] Applebaum] and [Andre] Nemick and [Scott] Rosenberg are going to work on our new drama Life on Mars and have some great ideas about this version. So we love the people, but it's just unfortunate that we couldn't find the kind of audience that would make it worth keeping."

McPherson Calls the New Fall Schedule "Incredibly Stable":
With only one new drama and two new unscripted series, there isn't much change at all. Still, he adds that there are 17 pilots still in development for midseason, so clearly, thanks to the strike, there wasn't a lot of grooming time this year.

Life on Mars Looks Pretty Awesome: Cherry-picked as the only new scripted series coming to ABC this fall, this British import about a cop who gets sent back to 1973 actually looks pretty engaging. (They showed a clip.) Jason O'Mara (most recently McDreamy and Meredith's latest brain-tumor patient on Grey's) stars and the series is produced by David E. Kelley and the brain trust behind October Road (Applebaum and friends). It will air after Grey's on Thursday nights at 10.

Also Coming to ABC: Opportunity Knocks, a game show from Ashton Kutcher that McPherson describes as "Extreme Home Makeover meets Millionaire" (the show comes to your house with a truckload of prizes and asks you to answer trivia about your own family and community) and an untitled Ashton Kutcher-Tyra Banks reality show, which is "a beauty pageant like you haven't seen before" that McPherson says "we are keeping under wraps for now at their request."

Ugly Betty Is Most Definitely Moving to NYC: Says McPherson, "The pilot was shot in New York. The show is based in New York. And the studio made the decision that given the current climate in New York, it made a lot of sense to move it back. We're excited from a production standpoint to have that real New York quality, because as much as people try to cheat New York, it's really hard to do so. So I think it's sort of funny that people are taking issue with the fact that it's cheaper to do a show in New York about New York." McPherson also says all castmembers will be on board, but that Rebecca Romijn has "left the show." When asked why, he says Rebecca's run was always supposed to be a limited engagement and now that run is over. (Something tells me that's news to Rebecca.)

Ugly Betty Is Getting Back to Betty: "Silvio [Horta] is very smart to do what he's doing. I think that on Ugly Betty, there was sort of a flight of fancy that was going on there and it was funny, but I think it got away from the core that really is the heart of the show. And some of the episodes at the end of this year have gotten back to that." Also, LiLo will be back. "[Lindsay Lohan] is going to do more episodes next year. I don't know that the New York move will affect that, but she is doing more than one episode next season."

Is Edie Gone from Desperate Housewives? When asked if Nicollette Sheridan will return, McPherson initially gives a firm "Yes." When pressed for clarification, given that Marc Cherry was just quoted as saying that's the last we're gonna see of her for years, McPherson just smiles and says "Maybe." Hmmm...

Pushing Daisies Love: My beloved Pushing Daisies, which will back next season in its old time slot, is still all about the love. The ABC new-season video they showed us featured Lee Pace saying, "I've fallen in love with Anna Friel," and how that's a good thing because they can't touch on the series so they really have to sell the love through their eyes. Awww...

Grey's Anatomy Is Planning Something Big:
"Grey's has got a big idea for next year that Shonda's getting ready to launch on people," says McPherson, but wouldn't go into further detail (shocker). "But the other shows we feel like are firing on really good waves, so there's no big kind of shift." (Read into that transition what you will.)

Why Eli Stone Got the Pickup (Hurrah!): "In comparison to the big shows we have it's not particularly expensive," McPherson explains. "And we just felt like it had a very tough launch amid the strike without our original programming to really launch it. And creatively we felt like it grew from the beginning to the end of the first 13, so we really feel like it's got a big up side...We also think we have a better lead-in for it with Dancing With the Stars." As for the big twist in the 13th ep, McPherson says: "That was always Greg Berlanti's design of where it would go."

Lost Time Slot for Midseason? TBD, according to McPherson. "At this point, we still like this 10 p.m. on Thursday, and we could move Life on Mars at that point. But it's also been a great 9 p.m. performer and 8 p.m. performer, so I think quite honestly we have to see how the fall plays out."

David Cook is the Next American Idol

It’s down to the final three contestants this season on American Idol — David Archuleta, David Cook and Syesha Mercado. But who’s going to win America’s heart?

Syesha definitely has singing chops but that’s hardly enough for Idol viewers anymore at this stage of the game. Archu-D2 was the early frontrunner in the competition but Cook definitely has pulled ahead with his carefully chosen arrangements and rock star performances.

Can Cook take the cake? Most likely.

Last week, interestingly enough, Archu-D2’s “stage dad from hell” was prohibited from working (read: attending arranging sessions) with his son on the show. David sure has a lot more pressure on him this week without his dad’s guidance this week on how to perform songs and what vocal changes to make. May the best David win!
