Does Hannah Montana Know Scotty?



Music today all sounds the same.

Still, the L.A. band Lustra is wondering whether the Hannah Montana song “Rockstar” sounds a little too similar to its song “Scotty Doesn’t Know,” which was used in the movie Eurotrip in 2004.

A spokesperson for Hannah Montana mouthpiece Miley Cyrus directed us to Hollywood Records; the label has not yet responded a request for comment.

The band, of course, did have something to say in a press release. “If Hannah Montana wants us now, who is next? The Jonas Brothers?” asks Lustra’s frontman, Chris Baird.

Yes, we get the feeling he might be enjoying this.

Hollywood's Leading PR Man Passes On



Here's one story PR men and women may have a hard time finding a positive spin for.

Legendary Hollywood press agent Warren Cowan—the namesake of the entertainment public relations behemoth Rogers & Cowan and rep for such stars as Elizabeth Taylor, Paul Newman and Frank Sinatra, among others—passed away Wednesday night at the age of 87, his company confirmed today.

According to Variety, Cowan died at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center of heart failure. He was also battling cancer.

Over the course of his professional tenure, the so-called "father of Hollywood press agents" had a hand in helping the stars of Kirk Douglas, Shirley MacLaine, Roberto Benigni, Tony Curtis, Elton John and Danny Kaye all shine a little brighter.

A memorial is scheduled to take place Sunday.

Angelina's Due Date Revealed: Aug. 19



Angelina Jolie's talking babies, but only, it seems, because everybody else is.

Following yesterday's confirmation by the actress that she is in fact having twins—Kung Fu Panda costar Jack Black inadvertently broke the news while the two were being interviewed by the Today show's Natalie Morales—comes word that another costar, Dustin Hoffman, has revealed her due date.

During Thursday's morning show on NBC, Morales told Today's Matt Lauer that in a separate interview with Hoffman, the actor said Jolie is due Aug. 19.

The twins will be the fifth and sixth children for Jolie and Brad Pitt. Their brood already consists of Maddox, 6, Pax, 4, Zahara, 3, and Shiloh, who is almost 2.

In the meantime, we'll just sit back and wait for someone other than Jolie to spill the beans on what sex the babies will be.

Court Grants Hugh, Liz Cash for Flash Pics



A picture may be worth a thousand words, but in Elizabeth Hurley and Hugh Grant's case, it's also worth about a hundred times that in cold hard cash.

The ex-couple, along with Hurley's current husband, Arun Nayar, have accepted nearly $113,000 in invasion-of-privacy damages from two European paparazzi agencies that snapped shots of the close-knit trio on vacation in the Maldives last year.

Particularly "reprehensible" to the threesome was that both the U.K.'s Big Pictures Ltd. and France's Eliot Press Sarl saw fit to take and sell photos of Hurley's Little Lord Fauntleroy-channeling son, Damian, naked on the beach.

Photos of the group were snapped up by News of the World and the Mail on Sunday and published last October under the cheeky headlines "Liz Does the Blokey-Cokey" and "Hugh's That Gooseberry?" and appeared both in the print and online editions.

In addition to the payout, which the trio plans on donating to a cancer charity, they also accepted public apologies from the paparazzi agencies for the unauthorized shots, which Laura Tyler, the attorney for the group, called "most upsetting," particularly as the friends had selected the private resort to avoid such illicit long-lensed snaps.

Surprise! Madonna Adoption Hearing Postponed Again



Madonna's on-again, off-again relationship with the Malawi legal system is, for the time being, off-again.

The final ruling in her and Guy Ritchie's adoption of David Banda was expected to be rubber-stamped by the Lilongwe High Court today, but the hearing was once again delayed, though not, in a refreshing break from tradition, by request of the singer herself.

Although the Ritchies were not present for the hearing—an attorney for the couple confirmed earlier this week that both stars would be a no-show due to "other engagements"—the Malawian Human Rights Commission was present and accounted for in the form of a protest report lodged with the court.

Upon receiving the nonbinding filing, which called out various "shortcomings" in the nation's adoption laws and argued that approving the adoption would be illegal as would-be parents must reside in Malawi for at least 18 months, the judge postponed his final ruling until next week, pending his review of the document.

Madonna's attorney, meanwhile, is still expecting a positive ruling next week from the judge, telling reporters, "I'm confident that the adoption will go through, because my client has met all the requirements and the government is satisfied that she qualifies."

And if they need any more convincing, a few advance record copies and a handful of backstage passes are surely the best qualifications around.

Here is our first look at the first promotional picture from the new Joss Whedon-produced TV series, Dollhouse, which stars Buffyverse alum Eliza Dushku which has just been announced as part of the new FOX lineup for next (mid) season:



The LA Times conducted a little Q&A with the man himself wherein he talked about how Eliza herself inspired the show and his return to the FOX family once again. Here is a portion of Joss's interview with the LA Times:

Is it true that this idea came to you over lunch with Eliza Dushku?

Eliza had made the deal at Fox and we got together to talk about her ambition, her management, her opportunities, because I've always felt that she's a huge star. Plus, she's a friend. But I was trying to get a movie off the ground, "Goners." "Wonder Woman" had already crashed and burned. "Goners" they had already lost control of the instruments, but who knows? So things were not that auspicious, but I was working it. Not shunning television but not intending to come back. But as we discussed Eliza's predicament, I started giving her some ideas about what I thought she would need: a genre show so she could be political without being partisan; an ensemble show so she didn't have to be in every scene. And I thought about it for a bit and then literally went, oh, curse word, I just came up with the show and the title. And it was the title that I knew I was doomed. Because if you have the title, you know it's right. And that's just bad. When we really discussed the whole thing, she said, "You're talking about my life. In my life, everybody tells me who they want me to be while I try and figure out who I am." And that spoke to me. I agreed that I'll write and maybe oversee the pilot. So I went home and said, "Honey, I'm sorry, I accidentally agreed to a Fox show at lunch."

How long after your lunch with Eliza did Fox offer you the opportunity to make a guaranteed seven episodes?

One week. This just felt right. Fox understood the show, and they've continued to prove that that is the case. I've pitched shows to people who didn't and they made them anyway, and that didn't go so well. Then I went into a state of blank panic. Oh, wait, all of my writers have jobs. So I went upstairs and I laid out seven notebooks, and every night I'd go up and put my seven notebooks all in a row, and I'd look and see what do we need to get from here to here. I even had to take them to New York. I thought, oh, I'd just rip off the page. 'No, you can't rip off the page. You'd kill the magic.' So I brought them to Kevin Reilly and I laid them out on his coffee table, and he said, "This is great. I love all of them." I said, "Great. Now if you'll excuse me, I'm on strike." And for the entire strike, I did not think about "Dollhouse." Occasionally, I would get a feeling.

Do you feel more pressure because it's a big network?

No. I feel the same pressure I always feel, which is all the pressure in the world. My name is on it. It's a story. My name now means something to people that it didn't before. But I still tried my hardest when it didn't.

WEEEEEEEEEEE! I am so excited for this new series!! I know I shouldn't but to me it feels like the closest thing we might get to a BtVS series again. It's a terrible way to look at this new series but I can't help it. I'm a bit bummed that Dollhouse has been deemed a mid-season replacement (mainly because we'll have to wait longer for the show to debut) but if Buffy the Vampire Slayer can survive and thrive as a mid-season replacement, then so can Dollhouse.

Some Good News for Lil' Kim!



On Thursday, a Manhattan federal judge awarded Lil' Kim $500,000 in a lawsuit against Junior M.A.F.I.A. rapper Lil' Cease and his entertainment company.

Apparently, Lil' Cease and company wrongly capitalized on the Queen B's fame to sell an unauthorized DVD.

Lil' Kim was originally seeking $6 million in damages.

At least she walked away with something!

Karma's a bitch for Lil' Cease. The rapper had testified against Lil’ Kim in a perjury trial that landed her in prison for one month and a day back in 2005.

Will she use the money to get her Bentley back?

Somehow we have a feeling that the Lohans will need to change their story pretty soon!

Lil sis Ali Lohan and momager Dina Lohan are promoting their new "reality" show, Living Lohan.

During a recent interview with TV's Extra, the topic turned to thrice-rehabbed sister Lindsay Lohan, because she's obviously more interesting than the show.

When asked what the family thought about the rumors of Lindsay's romantic relationship with Sam 'The Man' Ronson, they each gave their opinion.

Dina stated, "Samantha's an amazing girl."

Ok, so there are two lies there. Keywords: Amazing & Girl

Like a well-trained animal, Ali added, "They're best friends. They're just friends. It's pathetic what people say."

Riiiiiiight.

Is "friends" code word for "lovers"?

And in response to the countless tabloid reports bashing the Lohan family, Dina says, "I've learned to just deal with it. It's so silly. We actually laugh about it now… It really does hurt…. but you develop a thick skin. You have to ignore it."

As for the "reality" show, the two explain their reasons behind filming it. Oh, and of course they don't say it's to gain publicity and/or money.

Dina says, "To set the record straight as to who we are as people."

Ali adds, "My mom is just a regular mom trying to help her kids follow their dreams."

And for saying that line correctly, Ali gets an extra $5 added to her weekly salary.

We really haven't heard much from Wilmer Valderrama these days.

And that's probably because he isn't doing much!

Well, he is doing "something" later this month.

Valderrama will be hosting an event to celebrate (Ricky Ricardo) Desi Arnaz's contributions to the world of entertainment.

The event, "A Tribute to Desi Arnaz: An Evening With Wilmer Valderrama" will take place on Saturday, May 24th in Jamestown, NY.

Valderrama will be headlining the Lucy-Desi Days 2008 which takes place from May 23-25.

Wonder how much he's getting paid???? $300? $500???

According to the press release, Wilmer "will share how Desi personally inspired his career and salute the man that paved the way for other Hispanic actors in America. With a collection of rarely seen film clips of Desi's career, this will be a night not to miss! The audience will also enjoy a question and answer session."

Wonder what type of questions Wilmer will get. If any.

And for the lucky fans out there, after the event, guests will have the opportunity to meet Wilmer at an after-party. The food will be catered by a Mexican taco place.

It's Showtime!



R. Kelly's trial is finally moving along.

The jury selection is complete and things are ready to go.

Of the 12 jurors selected, eight are white and four are African American.

As for gender, there are eight males and four females.

And coincidentally enough, the final juror selected is a rape victim.

Of course, the defense tried to get her dismissed but they ran out of their seven peremptory strikes. Unfortunately for them, the judge wouldn't grant them an eighth.

Talk about bad timing!

The defense had also accused the prosecution of going after white jurors.

Let's just hope they give him a fair trial and that justice is served.

Her latest single, Take a Bow, had an opening week of 267,000 digital downloads, landing the track at the number one spot on the Hot Digital Songs chart in the U.S. this weel.

Rihanna also made a stratospheric rise to the top of the Billboard Hot 100 this week, jumping from number 53 to the number one spot as well!

RiRi has made the second highest jump in Billboard history, with the highest going to Maroon 5 last year with Makes Me Wonder jumping from number 64 to number one on the Hot 100.

Riri's expanded version of her Good Girl Gone Bad album is set to release on June 17th.

Gotta milk it while you can!

Rihanna now has two of the top three opening-week downloads in history. She was only surpassed by Mariah Carey's Touch My Body, which hit the all time high number-one spot with 286,000 downloads last month. That beat out Rihanna's Umbrella which debuted last year at 277,000.

Bringing Up Baby



Angelina Jolie dished the dirt about her children and future baby plans at a press conference for Kung Fu Panda in Cannes on Thursday.

When asked about her pregnancy and where she will give birth (yea, we have no idea what that has to do with the movie), she responded, "I actually haven't completely decided. We are certainly thinking of France."

Adding that French is "a second language in the house, although I'm still learning and am not going to attempt any of it here today. My children are starting to speak French, so being here is very good for them and their language."

Jolie was then asked by a Swedish reporter if she'd ever consider giving birth in Sweden.

Ange responded, "Not at this time… But, you never know, there's more babies. Who knows?"

What? MORE babies????

Craziness!

She adds, "All my children are from all different parts of the world, and especially my boys. We do have a teacher who teaches them Cambodian and Vietnamese in our house, and they know their flags and they know their music and they know quite a lot about their culture and [Brad and I] bring in as much as we can and we'll continue to as they get older."

As for Brad Pitt, he was taking care of their four kids while Ange did press conferences.

Though she did say Poppa Smith would be joining her on the red carpet. She says, "He's with our kids right now, but he'll get his suit on at the last minute, I'm sure. He'll pull it together."

Whitney Thomson became the first plus-sized winner of "America's Next Top Model" last night. It was pretty obvious. TyTy planned this shit from the beginning. She hatched out this plan over a steak dinner at "Houston's." Seriously, TyTy mentioned Houston's last night and it got me excited for some reason.

Rich from FourFour has some interesting info on how Whitney got on the show. A source told him that Whitney never auditioned for the show. She was approached by someone from the show. That's nothing new. I think many of the show's skanks were approached instead of auditioning for the show.

The source said at the time, Whitney was already modeling as a size 2 or 4. The person from the show told her size 4 was a little too big to compete as a regular model on the show. They told her if she gained around 10-20 pounds they would put her on the show as a plus-sized model. FourFour has some pictures of a much skinnier Whitney. Through the entire season, Whitney cried about how hard it was for her growing up fat or whatever.

Whitney, who is a size 8 or 10, talked to People about how she's embraced her curves, "Right before I left for the show, one of my best friends said to me, ‘You’re not going to go that far. You’re fat. Every week I would remember her saying that. And every week I was like, ‘In your face!’”

Yes, size 8 is considered "full-figured."

Anyway, I'm glad Anna Nicole Whitney won.

Keira Knightley and her mother Sharman enjoy a shopping spree in Paris on Wednesday.

Keira and her mom first hit the famous Bon Marche and bought some clothes at Isabel Marant’s boutique.

The 23-year-old actress can be seen in the Edge of Love, alongside Cillian Murphy, Sienna Miller, and Matthew Rhys. The Edge of Love will be premiered at this year’s Edinburgh International Film Festival on June 18.

The Edge of Love is a love story telling the story of Welsh poet Dylan Thomas, his wife Caitlin and the curious real-life incident in which childhood friend Vera Phillips (Keira) and her eventual husband William Killick opened fire on the Thomas home with a machine gun and a hand grenade.

Victoria Beckham promotes her new dVb collection at the Harrods department store in London on Thursday.

Says Posh, “I’m very proud of dVb, each collection gets stronger with every season and the label grows as I do.”

Her fashion rep tells FOX News there are “no plans” to promote in L.A.

“It’s a huge slap in the face,” says Kitson boutqiue owner Fraser Ross. “Her people told us that we won’t be getting an in-store appearance because Victoria was angry about all the negative press she got here and things I said. So instead of trying to fix it, she’s just snubbing us at a time when the U.S. economy really needs a boost.”

Here’s the first clear (possibly) official photo of Justin Chatwin as anime hero Goku from the upcoming Dragonball live-action film.

Jamie Chung of Real World: San Diego fame is also pictured below. She plays Chi Chi, the lifelong love interest of Goku.

Dragonball has the tentative release date of April 8, 2009.

Victoria Beckham Talks About Her Boys and Her BFFs

Victoria Beckham had another day of looking impeccably stylish in her high-waisted skirt as she left the Dorchester Hotel in London. She's been busy this week making her way around town but also found the time to give a couple of interviews to The Sun and GMTV. While she doesn't always show her pretty smile, her sweet and down-to-earth demeanor easily came through when talking about her husband, her kids, and her friends in Hollywood. Here are a few highlights:



* On hanging out with George Clooney at the Costume Institute Gala: “I have only just got to know George. He was so nice, a real gentleman and absolutely hilarious. He has a great sense of humor. But I think David is better looking than him. Definitely.”

* On getting involved at the boys' schools: “They love it when Mummy and Daddy turn up to serve lunch. My parents do it and David’s mum has done it too. I’d rather go to Pumpkin Patch at school than dinner at the Ivy."

* On her star-studded trip to Napa: “It was a wild weekend. You know me, I don’t drink, but it was a great weekend. They are such nice people.”

* On spending time with Tom Cruise and Katie Holmes: "Do you know we go to lots of different things together and they're great and really normal. And people don't want to hear that, people want to hear that people are weird."

Angelina Is Gorgeous, Giggly, Giddy, and Due August 19?!

Is there a movie festival going on? Because the only topic at Cannes so far seems to be Angelina Jolie's twins! This morning Angie looked radiant in white showing up for the Kung Fu Panda photo call with her costars, while the interview alongside Jack Black where he divulged the double big news aired on The Today Show. It would seem that Angelina's costars are hell bent on leaking all the baby news, because Dustin Hoffman spilled the beans on a supposed due date — August 19! Seems a bit late, no? In the interview Angelina gushed:



* On being pregnant: “I'm very happy . . . I'm like most women, I love being pregnant.” She added that pregnancy makes “you feel like more like a woman than you've ever felt. You just feel like everything about your body is there for your baby.”

* On her children's heritage: “They have a real pride in who they are,” she said. “Our daughter's very proud that she's African. And our boys are very proud that they're Asian — they know about their country . . . down to their food or their flags or their music.”

* On teaching them about the world: “We keep nothing from them when we take them around the world, so they're more resilient than we are as adults." Jolie added that her curious kids “ask great questions about life. They ask questions about war that are poignant and spot-on because they’re the questions we should all be asking ourselves.”
