According to the Wall Street Journal, the home of Gossip Girl, the CW network is tanking.

The CBS/Time Warner co-venture lost 28% of its target audience of 18 to 34 year olds so far this season.

And, its ratings during this month's "sweeps" period — the all-important measure upon which future advertising rates are set — are down about 22%.

According to an insider, if things don't turn around dramatically one of the big partners is going to walk away.

The WSJ also points out that part of CW's problem is that the demo its targeting spends a lot of its leisure time on the internet. Good for us!

And, the Writer's Strike probably hastened the departure of the demo from traditional TV to the net.

Michelle Trachtenberg may be playing the new queen of mean on Gossip Girl but her on-screen persona seems to be spilling over into her real life.

As we all know, Ashlee Simpson and Pete Wentz were married on Saturday during a sunset ceremony at the home of her parents.

As it so happens, before the wedding, one of Pete’s friends, Guav, caught a departing flight out of JFK airport to Los Angeles for the wedding. He just happened to sit next to Pete’s ex-girlfriend, Michelle Trachtenberg, while waiting at one of the Virgin Atlantic gates.

Unbeknownst to her, Guav overheard Michelle “talking s—” on the phone about Pete and Guav immediately started texting Pete everything she was saying.

“WHAT?! ….. You’re going to my ex-boyfriend’s wedding tomorrow?!”

Spying on Harriet the Spy? How clever!!

It's An Honor Just Being Nominated

Last night wasn't a great night for Keith Urban at the Academy of Country Music Awards since he was nominated for 2 major awards and ended up walking away from the event with nothing ... except his happily pregs wife Nicole Kidman on his arm. The night really belonged to Kenny Chesney, who walked away from the ACM Awards with the top prize of Entertainer of the Year -- and then immediately criticized the ACMs for the way his award was decided. Um. Yeah. Anyways, here are pics of a very happy-looking Nicole Kidman and Keith Urban at last night's awards show:

Australia's Keith Urban has missed out on two major Academy of Country Music (ACM) awards amid a row over how the top prize was decided. Urban was laughing when he turned up to the awards in Las Vegas with pregnant wife Nicole Kidman on his arm, but left empty-handed after Kenny Chesney won the entertainer of the year category. Urban was also nominated for top male vocalist, but lost out there too. Still, Urban got to perform at the awards ceremony, and he and Kidman cuddled and looked happy as they posed for photographers before the event. Chesney should have been happier after being named entertainer of the year for the fourth year running. But he complained that the award winner was chosen for the first time by fans voting online, instead of by ACM members. Chesney said backstage he thought fans should be included, just not by voting for the show's most important award. "The entertainer of the year trophy is supposed to represent heart and passion and an amazing amount of sacrifice, commitment and focus," he said. "That's the way Garth won it four times, that's the way I won it, that's the way (George) Strait won it, Reba (McEntire), Alabama all those years. That's what it's supposed to represent." Chesney said his complaint was directed at the industry, not the fans - and that the method amounted to "complete disrespect" of the artists, saying the academy turned the award "into a sweepstakes to see who can push people's buttons the hardest on the internet." ... Urban was beaten to the top male vocalist prize by Brad Paisley, winner for a second year in a row. Carrie Underwood also took home her second consecutive female vocalist trophy. It was a night of repeats. Rascal Flatts' top vocal group win was its sixth in a row, while Brooks & Dunn won their 13th straight award for top vocal duo. Miranda Lambert won album of the year and Sugarland took single record and song of the year honours for their mellow hit Stay.

You know what, irregardless of whether or not Keith Urban walks away from award shows with trophies or not, he is the big winner in my eyes. He is very fortunate to be married to a beautiful woman like Nicole Kidman and the fact that they are expecting their first child together is very exciting. Personally, I think Kenny Chesney should've saved his criticisms of the awards show for another day ... complaining about how an award is given out when you just won the award is really weird, kinda tacky. He should've just kept his mouth shut and said thank you. All in all, tho, much congrats goes out to all the ACM winners ... especially those who saved the complaints for later.

Indiana Jones 4 Premieres At Last

Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull had its world premiere at the Cannes Film Festival on Sunday and was met with raucous cheers as the principal stars of the film (including Harrison Ford, Shia LaBeouf and Cate Blanchett) walked the red carpet on their way into the premiere. But, the cheers died down a bit after the film ended, leading many to believe that the movie may have a lackluster showing at the box office once it premieres this Thursday May 22. Indiana Jones received a hero's acclaim from the public at his first perilous outing at the Cannes film festival, but some critics had the knives out for the latest episode in the saga. Movie-goers at the red-carpet gala world premiere Sunday rose up to applause the fourth installment in the adventure series, the first in 19 years -- "Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull. But influential industry magazine The Hollywood Reporter on Monday gave it a lashing. "A wearying onslaught of action and effects gives Indy little chance to charm as he did of old," it said. Film industry executives who daily attend the gala screenings described the public response as warm, though short of the applause a couple of nights previously for Woody Allen's latest film, "Vicky Cristina Barcelona". But as critics pondered whether Harrison Ford, now 65, was too old for the rollicking, thousands of fans waited hours in the sun to cheer the return of the whip-cracking archaeologist adventurer. At a press preview, 2,000 media gathered in Cannes -- a renowned Kingdom of Critical Knives -- gave the 185-million-dollar movie a friendly round of applause and respectable reviews. "The world can rest easy," said film industry mag, Variety. "The old magic still works ... Mission accomplished." ... But neither the storyline nor the acting were to Hollywood Reporter's Kirk Honeycutt's taste. The sequel to the three "Indy" movies of the 1980s was more like a sequel to "Close Encounters of the Third Kind", he complained. The story was swamped in stunts, the characters were charmless, it lacked wit and romance. "This film feels like work, whether it's poor Harrison Ford straining to keep pace with his younger self ... or thrill-ride acrobatics that have only scant connection to the plot." London's Daily Telegraph critic David Gritten said Ford "doesn't wear the fedora with quite the same jaunty angle, his bullwhip doesn't crack as smartly." And the Guardian in London said "some nice moments and everything is good-natured enough. "But this is a moment for Harrison Ford to hang up the hat." The new "Indy", agreed Germany's Sueddeutsche Zeitung, "is unfortunately not as good as the old." The Los Angeles Times differed, saying fears of a geriatric addition to the Indiana Jones franchise were unfounded. "It turns out it's one of the good ones, and everyone involved can breathe a sigh of relief," it said. Said Time magazine's online edition: "Ford looks just fine, his chest skin tanned to a rich Corinthian leather; he's still lithe on his feet, and can deliver a wisecrack as sharp as a whipcrack." ... Whatever the reviews, the film has generated a buzz. London's The Times labeled it "pure gold" and Germany's Die Welt said it was "knit from the same stuff" as the old. "Spielberg's most remarkable achievement is to retain most of the old-fashioned virtues of the original franchise," said James Christopher of The Times. "Welcome back, Indy. Lord knows we've missed you."

It's hard to tell if the negative reviews are actually on point or if they are the work of haters who are trying to make a name for themselves by attacking a high-profile, big-budget blockbuster. Indiana Jones is one of those films that has to be seen and judged for oneself ... relying solely on reviews ain't gonna cut it. It's been almost 20 years since the last Indiana Jones film came out ... I can't wait to see this latest, final installment (Spielberg says he would love to make more Indy movies). Jim and I have already purchased our tickets for a midnight screening of Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull tomorrow night/Wednesday morning so we're very excited to see it ... I may even wear my Indiana Jones hat from Disneyland to the screening! Well, mebbe not but I'll at least bring along my bull whip.

Really Ready To Settle Down, JT?

Is Justin Timberlake ready to say goodbye to his philandering bachelor days and finally settle down with the woman of his dreams? Well, if a new report from The Sun is to believed he is. Apparently, JT has been scouting out possible island sites for a possible wedding ... that is, if it is possible that he is ready to ask his current love interest, Jessica Biel, to be his bride:



HE HAS dated some of the most beautiful women in the world but gorgeous actress JESSICA BIEL has finally tamed JUSTIN TIMBERLAKE. I hear he will soon be proposing and has already started looking at potential wedding venues — or in his case, islands. The two have been dating since January last year and rumours are rife they may already be planning a family. One source said Jessica has not been drinking recently, sparking pregnancy rumours. They added: "Justin is 27 and thinking about marriage and kids. For the first time in his life he is feeling settled and has definitely decided to pop the question to Jessica. He is so happy with her. They spent quite a bit of time apart recently when Justin was working with MADONNA. That made him certain Jessica was the person he wanted to spend the rest of his life with." For any girls out there not yet feeling a twinge of jealously towards Jessica ... wait until you see where Justin wants them to get wed. His No. 1 choice is the beautiful West Indian island of Mustique. Words can't do the place justice, although the official website comes close, describing it as: "An exclusive, 1,400-acre island in the southern Caribbean with lush, rolling terrain cooled by trade winds, surrounded by pristine white beaches and clear, aquamarine waters." Though it is not just the island's natural beauty that attracts Justin. Because it is privately owned by those who live there, he would be able to ban all paparazzi ... from even landing there. His friend added: "Although Justin has lived his whole life in the public eye, he feels his wedding is the one day that should remain private. To get all his close friends and family to Mustique will cost a fortune. But he can't put a price on how he feels about Jessica. Then there are the rumours about a baby being on the way."

Under normal circumstances, I wouldn't necessarily believe a report like this but with all the crazy marriage stuff going on these days (I'm talking to you Mariah Carey and Nick Cannon), well, anything is possible. These reports always throw in the pregs biz but you just never know. Don't be surprised if you wake up one day to the news that Justin Timberlake got hitched ... I know I won't be.

I cannot believe we are just about 2 months away from the release of the new Batman sequel already. It seems like AGES ago that the movie had begun filming and now we're so close to its release. I'm pretty sure there will be a heavy online viral push as we get nearer and nearer to the film's release ... this poster is but the latest tease that the biggest movie of the summer* is just around the corner. Woot!

After successfully navigating the waters of a pretty amazing last couple of months, Britney Spears packed her bags, her assistant, her Papa Jamie Spears and, apparently, Mel Gibson and made her way down to Costa Rica for some much-needed rest and relaxation on the beach. I cannot stop singing the praises of Britney Spears these days. She has turned her entire life around so successfully that it damn near brings a tear to my eye every time I think about it. I am so happy that Britney is taking some time off to enjoy a well-deserved vacay And, if she makes a new friend ... a new male friend perhaps ... then all the better -- well, maybe. Ashl33n Tie The Knot!


Ashlee Simpson and Pete Wentz are now officially husband and wife after being wed in a family-oriented ceremony in the Simpson family home in Encino, CA. Earlier this week, when white tents started springing up in the Simpson home backyard, I guessed that maybe they were being erected as a decoy to throw the paparazzi off the trail of the real wedding site -- I guess the wedding planners weren't that savvy. Here are a few photos of some of the wedding guests who were lucky enough to be invited arriving at the Simpson home yesterday afternoon:

But all eyes cameras were on the look-out for the arrival of Jessica Simpson to see if her rumored ex-boyfriend Tony Romo would accompany her to the nuptials. There was a report that Papa Joe Simpson suggested (insisted?) that Tony attend the wedding as Jessica's date as a show of support for the family ... it turns out that Tony did just that. I'm very interested to see the photos that will surely be released to some magazine this week (you can be sure that Papa Joe worked out a lucrative deal for the sale of those photos) cuz I want to see Romo in a tux, posing with Jessica and smiling. I really do not believe the couple is still together and I want to see what lengths they will go to to look as if they were still a happy couple.

You will note that Nic/Joel are standing in front of a big sign that greeted the guests upon arrival, informing them that they are giving away their rights by attending the wedding ... I was able to partially decipher the text of the sign:

Brills ... Papa Joe wants to make sure that the sale of the wedding photos are not diluted by any unauthorized photography.

Anyways, the deal was done ... and a publicist for the couple gave the scoop to People magazine:

Ashlee Simpson and Pete Wentz were married Saturday evening in an intimate ceremony, their spokesperson tells PEOPLE exclusively. "We're delighted to confirm that Pete Wentz and Ashlee Simpson were married this evening in front of family and close friends," said the spokesperson. Simpson, 23, wore an ivory lace wedding gown by Monique Lhuillier accessorized with a diamond necklace and earrings by Neil Lane as she and Wentz, 28, exchanged vows in front of 150 guests at her parents' Los Angeles area home. Dad Joe Simpson performed the non-denominational ceremony, while sister Jessica served as maid of honor. Wentz's English bulldog, Hemingway, was the ring-bearer. Guests included Jessica's boyfriend, Dallas Cowboys quarterback Tony Romo, Nicole Richie and Joel Madden, as well as actor Donald Faison with girlfriend CaCee Cobb. Simpson told PEOPLE on Friday that she was never the type to dream about her wedding when she was growing up, but changed her tune once she got engaged. "Now that I'm doing it, I definitely have that big dream. It kind of went more fairytale than I thought. I got really into it." Added Wentz, "She has this amazing imagination and to watch it take place is an awesome thing." With the help of wedding planner Mindy Weiss, Simpson got her dream nuptials: The Alice in Wonderland themed reception featured a wedding cake by Sam Godfrey of Perfect Endings with a top hat, tea pot, stop watch and a pot of flowers on top. The elaborate centerpieces of black beauty roses were by Mark's Garden. Guests were served Rose Veuve Clicquot champagne followed by a sit-down dinner and dancing to a deejay.

Since news of the wedding came out, new reports have also come out "confirming" that Ashlee Simpson is 4 months pregnant. Nope, I still don't buy it. I believed Pete Wentz when he immediately denied that Ashlee was pregs when the rumor first came out ... could she have gotten pregs since then? Possibly (in fact, I know Papa Joe is counting on it). I'm sure they're gonna have a baby at some point but I do not believe that Ashlee was pregs in the weeks leading up to the release of her new album. No way.

Absent all this rumor drama, I am very happy that Ashlee and Pete have tied the knot. They make a great couple, Pete is a good man and I wish all the happiness in the world for the newlyweds. I worry about Papa Joe Simpson's influence on them tho ... he already ruined Jessica's marriage to Nick Lachey -- let's hope he learned the lesson and will stay out of this new union. Congrats and good luck!!!

Cameron Diaz has had a busy month promoting What Happens in Vegas, but this California girl looks perfectly relaxed in the June issue of InStyle. In the magazine she talks about her style, what she's looking for in a man and in a bittersweet moment, the love of her parents especially her father. Here are some highlights:

Suri Gets Sleepy on Seven Pounds

Suri Cruise looked all tuckered out in dad's arms after a visit to the set of Seven Pounds on Saturday. Between tap dancing class and helping her big brother out on his movie, Suri's getting quite the little showbiz education already. While for now it's all about parent time for the 2-year-old, their friend Will Smith is busy making sure there's the right school ready for their kids. Will's had trouble finding a suitable school for his children, but now he's invested about $1 million into New Village Academy in Calabasas, which teaches using Scientology study methods. The Smith children will be enrolled when the school opens Fall 2008, but they'll have to wait a few more years to see if this littlest Cruise will be their newest classmate.

Post Mexican munchies, Megan and Brian engaged in a little PDA, but it was really nothing compared to what we've seen this frisky couple get up to. Between her budding movie career and his return to TV on The Sarah Connor Chronicles, it's been quite the year for these two. It's sweet to see that they're still going strong — now I wonder whether Brian's given any thought to joining his old costars by reprising his role as David Silver in the 90210 spinoff.

LL Spends Weekend Bikini Bound and Looking for Sponsors

Lindsay Lohan continued to bask in the gorgeous LA weather in her bikini at a friends' pool soirée on Saturday after running some errands. Speaking of parties, Lindsay's 22nd birthday is still a month and a half away but the starlet is already in planning mode — even setting up a website looking for sponsors for the bash. After she had to cancel her big 21st b-day Vegas celebration and settle for a break from rehab in Malibu, it seems she wants to go big this year. Lane Garrison Under Heavier Lock and Key



The trials and tribulations of Lane Garrison continue.

Despite reports of good behavior and a possible early release, E! News has exclusively learned that the former Prison Break actor was transferred from a medium-security facility to tougher digs, his fifth new home since being locked up for vehicular manslaughter.

Garrison, called a "model inmate" by a prison insider, was recently moved from Golden State Correctional Facility near Bakersfield, Cailf., to the California Substance Abuse Treatment Facility in Corcoran, a medium/maximum-security lockup adjacent to Corcoran State Prison, which is currently home to Charles Manson and Bobby Kennedy assassin Sirhan Sirhan.

Neither the actor's attorney nor the California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation could immediately be reached for comment.

"Generally speaking, if you are in a medium security facility with 600 inmates, you don't get moved to a place that's high security with 6,000 guys," a source told E! Monday. "Especially Corcoran—those are violent guys, mostly doing time for murder."

SATF does have accommodations ranging from open dormitories to more isolated confines for maximum-security prisoners who need protection from fellow inmates.

But Robert Downey Jr. also did his drugs-related time there, so obviously not all of the prison is meant for the most hardened criminals. Downey was locked up in August 1999 and released a year later after serving a third of his sentence for parole violation.

Garrison, who turns 28 on Friday, had been leading prayer groups and substance-abuse support meetings at Golden State, according to a source close to Garrison, who says he has also responded personally to more than 1,200 letters he has received from the outside.

"They are all hand-written, sincere and encouraging," the source said. "He tells kids to make the right choices and do the right thing."

Garrison pleaded guilty last May to felony vehicular manslaughter stemming from a DUI crash that killed one of his passengers, a 17-year-old Beverly Hills High School student.

He was sentenced in October to 40 months in jail but could be out in 20 once credit for time served and good behavior is factored in.

Jessica Alba Gets Married to Cash Warren!



Mom-to-be Jessica Alba and Cash Warren have gotten married, PEOPLE confirms.

The couple quietly wed Monday, says her rep, Brad Cafarelli.

According to a source, they were married in the Beverly Hills courthouse's ceremony room under an arch of green silk foliage and white flowers. They were casually dressed, with Alba wearing a long blue dress and her hair back in a ponytail.

"She looked happy but nervous," the source says.

Warren, in a white shirt and brown pants, arrived with Alba at about 11:30 a.m. on Monday, applied for a marriage license and waited about 40 minutes for the paperwork to be processed before a staff member from the courthouse married them, the source says.

Nobody else attended the wedding, the source adds.

Alba, 27, is expecting a daughter with Warren, 31, this summer. The couple met while filming Fantastic Four and were engaged last December.

After confirming her pregnancy, Alba said she's been in "frantic nesting mode," taking time off from acting to get the house ready for the baby.

The winner won’t be announced until Wednesday night, but thousands of PEOPLE.com readers are crowning David Cook the next American Idol.

In a new PEOPLE.com poll, more than 60,000 readers weighed in and 66 percent predicted that the 25-year-old rocker would take the title despite the judges’ support of his competitor, David Archuleta, who grabbed 34 percent of the vote.

Regardless of who wins, one reader, Caroline, agrees with the judges who deemed this season the best yet. “We the viewers really got to see all the singers do their thing,” she says in a comment. And Kory agrees: “they both were excellent … Both will make it in the music industry.”

Angelina's Cannes Buzz



Angelina Jolie is leaving Cannes abuzz with talk of Oscar possibilities and her coming twins.

After a whirlwind week, the 32-year-old star of Changeling and Kung Fu Panda, which both premiered at the film festival, is back at Paul Allen's seaside villa with Brad Pitt, 44, and their growing brood. The couple is laying low to enjoy family time, and were spotted doing some shopping in Nice.

Jolie and director Clint Eastwood, 77, won glowing reviews for Changeling, which got standing ovations Tuesday and predictions of major awards for both the direction and what Variety" called Jolie's "top-notch" performance.

Reviewer Todd McCarthy wrote, "Impressive as she may have been as the wife of Danny Pearl, her performance here hits home more directly."

The Los Angeles Times" agreed. "Based on this powerful and searing performance, it would be a good bet she will again be in the hunt for the Best Actress nomination that eluded her for A Mighty Heart last year," reviewer Pete Hammond wrote.

The newspaper also called Eastwood's direction "flawless" and the response to the movie "rapturous."

PEOPLE caught up with Eastwood after the world premiere screening of You Must Remember This,, a documentary on the Golden Age of Warner Bros., which he narrates.

"Angelina is fantastic in Changeling. She is an amazing actress," he said, and when asked about the Oscar buzz added, "I don't want to think that far ahead."

As for the film's sensitive subject matter of a missing child, Eastwood said: "It was fun making it, but I am a little nervous for parents going to see it."

Jolie had previously debuted Kung Fu Panda with costar Jack Black, which garnered a different kind of attention.

Early word from festival-goers was that the animated Dreamworks flick is a pleasing, kid-friendly romp, but what really made news was Jolie's bountiful belly – it was confirmed during an early interview that she is carrying twins.
