It Distracts From The Singing

Fergie Ferg was at it again this morning at her appearance on The Today Show this morning. Fergie performed her hit songs Big Girls Don't Cry and Clumsy along with a cover of the Heart classic Barracuda ... which came complete with one-armed somersaults:

The woman is brave as hell to keep attempting moves like this ... on live TV. Of course, the story would be much more interesting if she ended up landing on her head instead of on her feet but she deffo gets props for pulling off this ridiculousness. I think she should quit while she's ahead, tho ... better safe than in traction.

A Lovely Sight

Sarah Jessica Parker took a break from doing promo work for the new Sex and the City movie (due on May 30) to make an appearance at an in-store signing at Sephora on the Champs Elysees in Paris, France yesterday. SJP was in the hiz to sign bottles of her two perfumes called Covet and Lovely ... here are a few pics:

You may recall that commercials for Covet feature a scary-ass SJP breaking into a boutique to get at a bottle of the fragrance because she just "had to have it". Lovely was advertised with a photo of SJP looking lost, confused and deranged. Clearly, her frangrances are marketed towards the insane woman who wants to smell nice. Well, at least SJP still has that Carrie Bradshaw thing to fall back on.

Setting A Good Example

The newest newlyweds in Hollywood, Jessica Alba and Cash Warren (who were married in a super-secret courthouse wedding ceremony in Beverly Hills, CA on Monday), made their first public appearance as husband and wife at the Youth Mentoring Connection's annual Celebration of Mentoring Awards and Gala at the Beverly Hills Hotel last night. Here are photos of happy couple smiling and applauding the honorees (ie. some of Hollywood's biggest influencers in media, fashion, sports and entertainment -- Cash, himself, was among the honorees) who were recognized for their work with mentoring youths at the event:

This from the event's press release: Honorees from the sports and entertainment industries include producer Cash Warren, NBA point guard Baron Davis and professional skateboarder Stacey Peralta. Debrah Constance, who founded "A Place Called Home" youth center in South LA will be honored as a true Community Hero. The organization will also be handing out its first Visionary Award to YMC Founding Board Member and President & CEO of Frederick's of Hollywood, Linda LoRe. LoRe, who founded the nonprofit organization with her brother Tony, has envisioned this level of success for the Youth Mentoring Connection since its inception seven years ago. "Youth Mentoring Connection is an opportunity for individuals to really make a difference in the life of a young person," states LoRe. "No matter where you come from or what profession you are in, these kids look to you to be a teacher, friend and mentor."

This sounds like an amazing event and I suspect that Cashica would've attended this ceremony even if Cash wasn't among the night's honorees. It's rare to see Jessica look this happy and ... smiley. She looks beautiful in pregnancy but she looks absolutely gorgeous when she adds a smile to her face. Much congrats to Cash for this recognition and much congrats to the happy couple on their nuptials.

ATTENTION: DANCING WITH THE STARS SPOILER ALERT WARNING

Last night the final results from this season's competition of Dancing with the Stars were announced on ABC and, for the first time in 5 seasons of the show (not since season one), a female competitor took home the top prize to become the Dancing with the Stars champ -- Congratulations Kristi Yamaguchi. Here are photos of the winner and her partner in jubilant celebration after being awarded the championship mirror ball trophy:

After five seasons of watching the men win Dancing with the Stars, Kristi Yamaguchi broke the curse and raised the mirror-ball trophy in triumph for the ladies. "I love it! I guess 'k' is a good initial to have," Yamaguchi gushed to host Tom Bergeron moments after she and partner Mark Ballas learned they had won. Not since General Hospital actress Kelly Monaco's win in season one has a female contestant been Dancing champ. And Yamaguchi pulled it with absolute perfection, scoring 10s for all three of her finale dances–a first in Dancing history. "I've had the experience of a lifetime," Yamaguchi told PEOPLE. It's great to know after having two kids and not competing for 16 years that I can still push myself." Yamaguchi's closest competitor, NFL star Jason Taylor, who was partnered with pro Edyta Sliwinska, was runner-up. Cristian de la Fuente and his partner Cheryl Burke finished in third place. With a perfect 90 out of 90 from the judges, Yamaguchi and Ballas also won the viewers' vote. Praised all season-long for her technical ability, Yamaguchi fell short when it came to showing more of her personality in the dances. But the gold medalist figure skater was the complete package during the two-night finale, showing off complicated lifts, flips and everything in between. She and Ballas headed into Tuesday night's third and final dance at the top the leader board, having scored perfect 10s for their previous two dances, the cha-cha face-off and their high-flying hip-hop flavored freestyle, which even blew away the usually conservative head judge Len Goodman. They completed their perfect set of scores with another set of 10s for their jive on Tuesday.

Now, I'm not a huge fan of DWTS but I did take a marginal interest in the show after I attended a taping of the show earlier this year when they had Kylie Minogue perform live in studio. My BFF Sarah is a big fan of the show so I've seen it a few times at her place as well. Even tho I didn't watch the show very often, I did keep hearing how well Kristi was performing thruout the competition and since she and I share the same birthday (July 12 - tho she is older than I am) I kinda felt a kinship with her. And can I just say, it's about damn time that a woman took home the DWTS prize again ... it's been way overdue. Much congrats to Kristi and Mark on their win, it sounds like it was well-deserved.

Indiana Jones Does TRL

Before Harrison Ford and Shia LaBeouf made their appearance in Harlem for the BET co-sponsored NYC premiere of Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull yesterday, the man did manage to pay a visit to the MTV Studios in Times Square to make an appearance their appointed rounds on TRL ... here are a few pics from the show:

Harrison and Shia were on the show to promote the new movie, yada yada yada. The final push before the movie opens in theaters tomorrow has been going full steam ahead -- they really want to ensure that the movie does well in its opening weekend. I bought tickets to see Indiana Jones at 12:01 AM Wednesday which should've been earlier this morning but meant, in fact, late tonight. Apparently, the folks at the movie theater don't know how to tell time. At any rate, I didn't get to see the movie last night (much thanks goes out to Pink reader Camden who suggested I check in with the theater to make sure when exactly the showing would be taking place) but Jim and I are still planning to see it at midnight tonight. All this Indiana Jonesness better mean the movie is good ... or else wink.gif

Charlie Sheen Fights Back!

The world's best mother, Denise Richards, has been on a media blitz this week to promote the debut of her new, Ryan Seacrest-produced reality show, Denise Richards: It's Complicated.

On Monday, she hit Larry King Live and, of course, Richards' "alleged" e-mail to ex-husband Charlie Sheen's fiancee, Brook Mueller, regarding Richards' "supposed" request for Sheen's sperm was a big topic of conversation.

The former Bond girl vehemently denied to King that she ever made such request and even suggested that the e-mail Brooke received was doctored.

Charlie released the following statement through his rep to counter Richards' claims on the King show:

Statements contained in an email sent from Denise Richards to my fiancé Brooke Mueller on April 3, 2007, are a blatant contradiction to her statements made on "Larry King Live," Monday, May 19. 2008.

Her claims that her email has been fabricated or altered in anyway to create this story are absurd. The mere fact that she continues to publicly discuss and harass both Brooke and me three years after our separation, which for the record is longer than the actual length of the marriage, is beyond desperate and speaks volumes.

I will no longer sit back and be egregiously painted as a liar. If any proof can be established that these are not in fact her words and statements verbatim, I openly invite her and would even encourage Ms. Richards to sue me in a court of law.

She had an opportunity to tell the truth. She did not. Here is the proof.

HERE is a review the "proof", provided by Charlie's reps.

Who do U side with?

The following is an excerpt from an email sent by Denise Richard to Brooke Mueller on April 3, 2007.

Portions unrelated to the sperm donation have been deleted.

To: XXXX@yahoo.com

Subject:

Date: Tue, 03 Apr 2007 11:38:02 -0400

From: XXXX@aol.com

Dear Brooke,

I don't want to have a baby with Charlie. I am

having a baby in the next year. By myself…my girlfriend suggested

Charlie be the donor. SO, I did bring this up to him. There are so

many couples having unhealthy children. Charlie and i have very

beautiful healthy children together. I was strictly looking for a

sperm donor if it's any of your business. If it were him, I said we

would sign a document that he couldn't come after me and I couldn't

come after him..this wasn't to have sex with him, it was him

donating..that's it. I didn't want him to tell you at this time

because it was something very personal that I'm doing myself.

(note: the dots between "myself" and "my girlfriend" as well as

"donating" and "that's it" do not indicate anything was omitted, but that is

how her email was punctuated.)

The following excerpt is from the transcript of Monday night's Larry King show, on which Denise Richards

answered questions regarding the sperm donation.

KING: We have an e-mail question from Diane in Ohio: "I have read that you wanted Charlie to father a third child with you. Is that true?"

RICHARDS: Is this the sperm donor thing? Well, no. I have nothing against Charlie's sperm. I have two wonderful children, but I don't want anymore of it.

KING: He wanted as a donor?

RICHARDS: He said that I wanted his sperm as a donor for a third child.

KING: Did you?

RICHARDS: No, I did not.

KING: I don't think that would play well.

RICHARDS: No. I can get it elsewhere.

——– subject matter break ——–

KING; Our guest is Denise Richards. Her new reality show, "Denise Richards: It's Complicated," premiers on E on May 26th. I want to further clarify something. Someone said that there's supposed to be an e-mail about sperm and you and what is it?

RICHARDS: You know what? Like I said, every chance that Charlie tries to discredit me or say negative things about me in the press, he does. And the fact of the matter is I have no desire to have another child with Charlie. Nothing against his sperm. I have two beautiful kids but I don't want anymore of it.

KING: There's no e-mail that exists —

RICHARDS: No truthful e-mail that exists.

KING: Is this supposed to be an e-mail from you to him?

RICHARDS: There's supposed to be an e-mail from me to his girlfriend.

KING: Saying?

RICHARDS: Saying that I want his sperm and wanted to get back together, which — the date of that e-mail, I was with Richie. So if I wanted anyone's sperm, it would have been Richie's sperm, not Charlie's.

KING: I — so this is a phony e-mail, you think?

RICHARDS: This is a doctored e-mail.

KING: Doctored e-mail?

RICHARDS: Yes.

KING: Why would you e-mail his girlfriend?

RICHARDS: Exactly.

KING: Wouldn't you e-mail him?

RICHARDS: I wouldn't send an e-mail. My mother was — What Charlie doesn't know at that time was I talked to my mother's doctor. My mother didn't know about this. My mom was given two to six months to live. I was in a relationship with Richie. The last thing I would want is to have another child. My mom was dying and I'm in a relationship with a man I was in love with.

Save The Whales, Y'All

Hayden Panettiere is all for the whales!

The Heroes star is going to auction off two items on eBay starting on Wednesday to help raise money for her favorite charity, SaveTheWhalesAgain.com.

Hayden is encouraging everyone to bid on her eBay items, which will go up online at 7:00pm tomorrow night and will end of May 30th.

One item is a pair of tickets to a fundraising dinner to be held at Eva Longoria's restaurant, Beso. It will also include a personal photo op with Hayden.

If they pay a lot can they get to first base????

Hand-holding at least???

The second item is a private whale watching tour off the coast of Santa Barbara, again with Hayden alongside.

That's nice of her.

Hayden recently said, "So go the oceans, so goes life on Earth. Please join us in our fight to save these beautiful creatures, and preserve the quality of life in this world for our children, and generations to come!"

As for her mission, she says, "My mission is to end whaling worldwide, while raising public awareness to all the other threats dolphins and whales face including toxic pollution, noise pollution, global warming, loss of habitat, entanglement in fishing nets and potential extinction… Raise your voice; it's time to Save the Whales…AGAIN!"

This is so nice.

It Was Only A Matter Of Time!

Not content with ruling the music scene (naturally), Rihanna is set to star in her first big screen debut!

It is being reported that the Umbrella chanteuse has been cast as Carol in the film adaptation of Iceberg Slim's book Mama Black Widow.

According to it's online description, the movie synopsis is as follows:

"Mama Black Widow is the portrait of a black family's migration from the southern Mississippi fields of the segregated south to the ghettoized black underworld of Chicago during the 1930's. The story follows Otis Tilson's struggle to keep his family together as they navigate through a world of alcoholism, pimping, sexual deviation and racial degradation. Told in the gut level language of the original novel by Iceberg Slim, the family's journey is a harsh testament of lives lived on the margins of a racist and predatory world."

Also joining RiRi in the cast is Anthony Anderson, Kerry Washington, and Macy Gray. Yes, Macy Gray. We don't know why either.

Let's hope this doesn't bomb for Rihanna's sake. If it does, no one's gonna want to hire her for another film again!

Will U go see this movie?

Terminator, Terminator and More Terminator

As we mentioned last year, super hottie Christian Bale is not only continuing his role in the Batman films, but he's also signed on to be a part of the Terminator franchise.

Bale will play John Connor in the next three sequels to Terminator.

Yes, THREE!

Christian has already begun filming the first film, Terminator Salvation: The Future Begins.

The film is set to debut on May 22, 2009.

Victor Kubicek of film company Halcyon, says Bale is "really an actor's actor, so we're very proud. Christian was our first choice and he's a big fan of The Terminator, so we're very lucky. But with Batman he's already done the whole franchise thing, so we weren't sure he'd respond."

Hey, as long as it pays big!

Apparently Bale fell so in love with the money script that he's already signed to make all three films.

But, the real question remains: will Arnold Schwarzenegger play the role of the Terminator again?

Unlikely!

Unfortunately for us, the producers won't say. They're also not discussing any of the plot details or characters.

Kubicek adds, "We can't talk about the story points at all. Not everyone gets to see the script. They only see the part of the script that's relevant to the job they're doing."

Let's hope they don't ruin the franchise.

When Hasbeens Attack AGAIN!

Some people will never learn.

As we mentioned yesterday, former actor and douchebag Jesse Metcalfe and his "entourage" assaulted a Perez reader's friend who was part of a bachelor party in San Diego this past weekend.

We guess when you're career goes nowhere you might have a ton of aggression building up inside.

But violence is never the answer!

Now, we come to find out that just before the weekend assault, Metcalfe was at it again, causing problems everywhere he goes.

The Ivy Hotel in San Diego offered Metcalfe a free room for hosting their "Seduction Thursday" party.

Unfortunately for the hotel, they probably ended up losing money because of him.

Upon checkout, the hotel room was TRASHED. Very much so like Metcalfe's career.

A source says, "There was major damage. His suite had cigarette burns in the furniture. There was food all over the walls and a broken door. All of the alcohol in the bar had been drunk."

Loser!

Then, Metcalfe wanted to stay an extra day and spend Friday night at the hotel as well, but he was asked to leave instead.

As he should have been.

Hope he was slapped with a bill for the cleanup and repairs. Cuz you know if it were any "regular" person, they'd have to payup!

And, although we can't image why he would even need a rep, Metcalfe's publicist says his client "left his room, and [other people] made the mess."

Yeah, right!

Sounds like someone should go back to rehab. And stay there!

Drama Behind The Scenes on The Simpsons

Fox's schedule next fall might be missing it's longest running animated series.

Doh!!!!

The Simpsons have already been slated to take its normal Sunday night timeslot next season. Though it seems like there might be a delay to production.

The problem?

There's still no deal with the voice talent responsible for the Simpsons characters!

While talks are in progress and a new deal will hopefully be drawn out soon, production has already been on hold for months. This will most likely result in the show's 20th season having only 20 episodes instead of the usual 22.

And if a deal isn't reached soon, the number of episodes will continue to drop for next season.

Those greedy little f---ers!

The voice actors on The Simpsons already make SO much money! What, do they want Fox to cancel the show because it's become to expensive to produce????

Is THAT what they want????

The "key" talents responsible for the main character voices on the show are rumored to be making around $360,000 an episode!!!

That's almost $8,000,000 per season!!!

EACH!!!!!

The new deal could raise the salaries to around $500,000 an episode, including several bonuses.

Just four years ago, production was stopped when cast members didn't show up for two table reads. Back in 2004 they were looking to increase their salaries from $125,000 an episode. We think they've gotten a pretty good raise since then.

And if you recall back to the late 90's, the cast (who was making $30,000 per episode in 1998) started to ask for a large raise. But, 20th Century then went as far as hiring casting directors in five cities to find potential replacements if a deal wasn't made.

As for the talent, they insist they are only asking for a small portion of The Simpsons empire, which is actually worth several billions of dollars.

Whose side are U on in this fight???

Cracking the Crystal Skull: Indiana Jones Reviewed!

Oh right, like you're not really sure whether you want to go see it.

Admit it, Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull had you as soon as you heard that rousing John Williams' theme music again.

Fortunately, a smart script and great set pieces make this tale of Soviet spies, weird artifacts and a lost city a worthy capstone to the series.

Want the whole review? Read on...

It’s been about twenty years since The Last Crusade, on-screen and off, and Dr. Henry Jones Jr.—he’s pretty much dropped the nickname—is still searching for ancient mysteries, and still fighting bad guys. Only now, he’s traded Nazi spies for Russians, led by Irina Spalko (Cate Blanchett), who want him to crack the secret of a crystal skull that promises vast power.

Rather than pretend he hasn’t aged a day, the script takes into account Indy’s advancing years. He’s not as quick with a whip as he used to be, and the world has changed, too. Dr. Jones finds himself under suspicion by the FBI, despite having saved the world for democracy several times, and his old allies are dead or gone.

Fortunately, he gets a new sidekick, a motorcycle punk named Mutt (Shia LaBeouf) to help pick up the slack. Mutt’s mom used to date Indy, and she’s gone missing while on the trail of—you guessed it—the same crystal skull.

He might be old, but once he gets out the leather jacket and fedora, Indy proves he’s still the best there is at dodging bullets, death-traps, and flesh-devouring ants.

Britney Has Had Dad's Back Since Day One

There's a method to this madness.

The $2,500 weekly allowance Jamie Spears receives from Britney's estate for acting as her conservator isn't quite the random number it seems to be, nor is it just an estimate of how much work it takes to manage the popster's at-times-tumultuous affairs.

According to court documents obtained by E! News, the elder Spears had been earning a living working as a caterer and private chef prior to hunkering down with his daughter following her weeklong stay at UCLA Medical Center in early February. (View the documents.)

And, as you might have noticed, taking care of Britney was a full-time job back then.

"Because Mr. Spears has been forced to forego [sic] other employment in order to devote his full time and attention to Britney and her affairs, he has lost his regular source of income from which to pay his living expenses," the court order, filed May 13 in Los Angeles Superior Court, states.

The commissioner presiding over Britney's conservatorship case originally ordered Jamie's allowance to start rolling in after March 3, but the elder Spears successfully lobbied for $2,500 per week dating back to Feb. 1, when he was first appointed coconservator of the "Toxic" singer's estate along with attorney Andrew Wallet.

As it stands, a hearing to revisit the conservatorship issue is scheduled for July 31. There's also a hearing set for May 29 to review these money matters.

CSI, which currently holds a slight edge for second place over House, ends its eighth season averaging 16.89 million viewers, its least amount ever. The show's previous "low" was 17.8 million, posted during its first season.

CW Gets Good Gossip, Bad News

Take that, Wall Street Journal.

On the same day the nation's leading business newspaper reported that time may be running out for the CW, the network went on to score its biggest second-biggest Monday night. Ever. In its two-year history. Among viewers named Ashley who like venti decafs, except on Fridays when they favor grande chais aged 18 to 34.

Well, anyway, it's something.

And, actually, the season finales of One Tree Hill and Gossip Girl needed no qualifications. Per the CW, they provided the network with its most-watched Monday of the season, and its best Monday performance in its aforementioned two-year history among prized young adults, aged 18-49.

But because the CW is committed to even-younger adults, it was the 18-34 stat that the network trumpeted above all today.

Yesterday, it was the Wall Street Journal reporting that advertisers had "cooled" on the network, that "at least" one of its owners was ready to bail, and that next season could be its last.

The CW, a joint venture between CBS and Warner Bros., which was formed out of the demise of the WB and UPN, launched in the fall of 2006. Though it was formed by addition, the math hasn't added up for the CW. Instead of pooling the WB's and UPN's audiences, it essentially lost one of them. Where the WB and UPN were drawing a combined 6 million viewers in their final season, the CW averaged about 3 million in its first season.

With just days to go in this season, the CW is down to 2.6 million. And it's losing, not gaining, ground among 18- to 34-year-olds.

Next season, the CW will go with its most narrowly focused, cable-esque lineup yet, zeroing in on young females, aged 18-34, with its Beverly Hills 90210 update, and returning shows such as Gossip Girl, One Tree Hill and America's Next Top Model. Overall, it'll program five nights a week, having originally spurned Saturdays, and having recently turned Sundays over to an outside company.

In the Journal, CBS and Warners execs didn't sound thrilled with the CW's struggles, but they didn't sound any direct threats, either.

If nothing else, the CW will always have Monday. Gossip Girl averaged an estimated 3 million viewers, way up over its season average. One Tree Hill also closed strong, with an estimated 3.2 million.

It'll also have Sunday's New York Times, which published a think piece on Gossip Girl.

Memo to Serena and pals: Renew Times; cancel Journal.

Lewis was given the Kylie Award: Next International Crossover, beating out Robyn, Sia and Duffy. “She joked that the award officially made her a 'diva,' ” says my source.

Shania's Split: Man, It Feels Like Another Woman

Shania Twain and Robert "Mutt" Lange's private matter just became public fodder.

Just days after the duo announced their separation with nary an explanation, calling it a "private matter," comes a report that a third party was involved in their break.

Citing several sources close to the couple, People reports the record producer was involved—and continues to be involved—with the duo's longtime secretary and manager of their Switzerland home, the also-married Marie Ann Thiébaud.

While the famously reclusive Lange initially called his split from Twain "unfortunate" and the result of "growing apart" after 14 years of marriage, he's wasting no time in lashing out at the magazine story, denying any semblance of impropriety.

"It's absolutely not the reason [for the separation]," he told People. "It's not true."

Twain, 42, and Lange, 59, have one child together, 6-year-old Eja D'Angelo.

Cusack Goes Back to the Future

It may be the end of the world as we know it, but John Cusack will probably come out fine. If historic trajectories of broad-shouldered leading men are anything to go on, that is.

The veteran actor has signed on to star in Roland Emmerich's apocalyptic thriller 2012, a big-budget epic that takes place in the year determined by the Mayan calendar to be the end of human civilization.

Per Variety, the film, which also stars increasingly prolific British actor Chiwetel Ejiofor, will revolve around both the cataclysmic end of modern-day civilization and, subsequently, the plight of the scant few survivors.

Shooting starts in Los Angeles in July, barring a strike by the Screen Actors Guild.

Or a preemptive end of days.

New Couple Alert: Jude Law and...Kimberly Stewart?!

Do ya think it's sexy?

Well, if your definition of the word is Jude Law sucking face with Rod Stewart's daughter Kimberly, then you're in luck.

The odd hookup allegedly took place last Saturday at a London nightclub usually frequented by C-list soccer players, not A-list actors like Law, according to the Sun, which managed to obtain a picture of the couple in action.

One barfly reportedly told the paper the two "were really going at it and barely coming up for air."

We, on the other hand, will be coming up for air as soon as our stomachs allow.

Heidi and Spencer Seek Attention, Good and Bad

Spencer Pratt apparently thinks he's really important. News flash, we know.

He and Heidi Montag were eating at their favorite Mexican restaurant, Don Antonio's, last weekend when Spencer noticed a nearby female diner texting on her phone.

"Just then Spencer says loudly, 'Oh look, they're texting all their friends that they're sitting next to Heidi and Spencer,' " an eyewitness tells E!

Turns out the girl was actually just texting their table's location to a friend meeting them at the restaurant, but isn't it funny that Speidi think they're such VIPs? Spencer proceeded to sprawl out in his booth for the duration of their dinner.

Perhaps he should have been more appreciative. The wannabes reportedly got booed Monday night when they appeared on the JumboTron at Dodger Stadium.

So it seems Heidi and Spencer aren't ready for their close-up.

Emotional Madonna Screens Documentary at Cannes

A choked up Madonna premiered her documentary, I Am Because We Are, about orphans in Malawi, on Wednesday at the Cannes Film Festival.

"This is a film I want the world to see," she said.

Dressed in Chanel haute couture and heels so high she twice grabbed the edge of a seat to steady herself, the Material Girl, 49, sounded near tears as she stood before the audience (including Sharon Stone) at the special screening.

"It's an incredible opportunity for me to be able to show this film in Cannes," she said, noting that she "held my breath" when she sent it to Cannes festival director Thierry Fremaux. "I think I turned purple," she joked.

"To say that this film is a labor of love is trivial," she said. "It's also the journey of a lifetime. I hope you all are as inspired watching it as I was making it." (The singer's adoption of a Malawian boy, David Banda, is nearly complete.)

One light moment: Fremaux teased her about introducing the film in French "because I know she speaks it."

Laughed Madonna: "Not so good."

Jay-Z, Usher Sing About Joys of Marriage

Jay-Z and Usher have recorded a new song together, "Best Thing" – an ode to their new status as married men.

"Of course, with the talk of both of us now being newlyweds, there is a question as to why, and is it real?" Usher told MTV Base of the song, which is produced by Janet Jackson's beau Jermaine Dupri. "Well, if you hear that [song], you'll understand what [Jay-Z] meant when he says, 'Seeds becomes plants/ Boys become men/ You've got to grow up, not down.' "

The song kicks off with Jay-Z speaking of a bachelor who is resistant to getting married: "Can't give a ring up/ I couldn't give a f---, how could I give a finger?/ Let alone half baths and closets/ So claustrophobic, in fear of close objects."

Usher, meanwhile, playing an unfaithful boyfriend, sings: "Listen, is there any chance that you remember me being any more than just a horrible man? And would you consider pullin' this trigger and taking a second shot at romance?/ Oh baby, I want the days when you were my girl and I was your man/ Know I took you for granted/ But it wasn't until now I see how much I miss you."

Jay-Z, 38, married Beyoncé Knowles, 26, in April. Usher, 29, married stylist Tameka Foster, 38, last August. The pair have a son together.

Whitney Thompson: Can ANTM’s First Curvy Winner Be a Big Deal in Plus-Size Modeling?

Whitney Thompson is tucking into cheesecake and fruit salad with sorbet after lunch. She didn’t order both — one was sent with “Congratulations,” written in chocolate, when a waitress recognized her as the winner of America’s Next Top Model. “This,” she says, licking the spoon, “is so good.”

Revenge, as they say, is sweet. Called “fat” by mean girls in Atlantic Beach, Fla., Thompson, 20, says that despite the teasing, she never obsessed over diet. “You don’t have to starve to be beautiful. I made that decision in seventh grade, when my friends were drinking Slim-Fast.” By age 15, she shot up to 5′10″ and slimmed down–but never to the pin-thin size favored by designers and, until now, ANTM. In nine seasons no “juicy” model, to use the show’s terminology, had cracked the top three.

Thompson, who at size 10 is small for the plus-size market, now has the Top title and –befitting any new celeb–an internet mini-scandal. Photos of her in what bloggers estimate is a size-4 bikini surfaced after her May 14 win. Rumors alleged that a show staffer asked her to put on weight prior to taping. Says a CW network rep: “[We] never asked Whitney to gain weight in order to appear on ANTM.” Had they asked, “I wouldn’t,” says Thompson, adding that the photos “are from tenth grade, when I was a size 6.” In college, she went up to a 10. “I’ve never been a 4.” Nor does she aspire to be. “I’ve gotten so many emails saying, ‘I admire your confidence,’” says Thompson. “That’s the best reward.” –Kristin Mascia

What Is ‘Plus-Size’?
The industry says it’s size 12 and up. So while her win “is a healthy step,” says plus-size star Emme (a 14/16 at her career peak). labeling Thompson plus, “is ridiculous. A 10? In our society she’s normal.” Thompson “is on the smaller side,” says her Elite manager Jose Covarrubias. “We’re looking into high fashion and full-figured campaigns.”

Sen. Kennedy Heading Home after Brain Tumor Diagnosis

U.S. Sen. Ted Kennedy was expected to be released from the hospital Wednesday morning at 10 a.m., traveling to the Kennedy family compound in Hyannisport following his brain tumor diagnosis, MSNBC reports.

The longtime Democratic senator from Massachusetts, diagnosed Tuesday with a malignant brain tumor, will rest at the family home in Cape Cod while awaiting further test results and treatment options over the Memorial Day weekend, doctors say.

Kennedy suffered a seizure and was airlifted to Massachusetts General Hospital Saturday morning after being treated at the Cape Cod Hospital emergency room. The 76-year-old liberal stalwart is the last living brother of assassinated President John F. Kennedy.

Doctors said he has a tumor in his left parietal lobe but hasn't suffered any more seizures. Treatment usually involves a combination of chemotherapy and radiation, but brain tumors of this sort can be fatal for the patient within one to five years, experts say.

Brooklyn Decker Jokes: 'I Was Stalked' By Andy Roddick

Persistence has paid off for Andy Roddick – especially where love is concerned.

The tennis star's fiancée, Sports Illustrated swimsuit model Brooklyn Decker, describes the athlete's early attention toward her as unrelenting and unrequited. "I was stalked," Decker joked on Monday at the American Ballet Theatre Spring Gala in New York. "He'll tell you that."

But she added, "It was charming. He was charming. Eventually, I fell for it, and five months later I called him back and that was that."

Decker says that their first date was "a comedy show and dinner. He's hilarious. He makes me laugh more than anyone."

Though Decker describes herself as "pretty athletic," she's still learning tennis. "I'm taking lessons," she says. "But I'm certainly not a pro."

Showing off the sizable rock on her finger, Decker told PEOPLE, "It's weird having it on, but now I feel strange without it."

As for when Roddick and Decker will exchange vows, the couple, who got engaged in March, will make it official next year. "We're in the planning process. This has been the happiest time. I'm very much a tomboy and this is being a total girl, being with my friends and my mom. We're shopping for a dress right now."

And how did Roddick react to his fiancé and the rest of the models in the Sports Illustrated swimsuit issue? "Of course he enjoyed it," Decker said. "He's a guy. We go through every page and say, 'She's pretty. She's nice. A lot of them are my friends … so he's looking at his friends as well."

Ali Lohan: 'Disgusting' Girls Ridiculed Me At School

Mean girls? Lindsay Lohan played one on the big screen. But her aspiring-singer-actress sister, Ali, had to deal with them in real life.

"A little while ago ... a couple of girls in school made up a video of me and put it up on YouTube," Ali – whose E! reality show, Living Lohan with manager-mom Dina, debuts on Memorial Day – tells PEOPLE exclusively. "They used disgusting words. Like if my mom ever heard me say that stuff, I'd be grounded for life! ... They're disgusting kids. I got really aggravated."

School authorities were notified, the 14-year-old adds, "and [the students] got suspended."

Such problems are a thing of the past, now that the eighth-grader is being home-schooled (to accommodate her work and travel schedule).

"You learn so much more – it's just hard to focus when girls are giving you problems," she says. "No one's talking about you behind your back. It's definitely easier."

She may have a famous sister – and a burgeoning career of her own – but, Ali says, that's not what makes her a target.

"I don't think it's just because of my sister and who she is," she insists. "I think it happens to all the other girls out there, because girls are just mean. It doesn't happen with guys. When I asked [my little brother] Cody, he was like, 'No, Guys don't care!' "

First Photo of Alleged Other Woman in Shania Twain Split

As Shania Twain copes with her sudden split with the support of family and friends in her native Canada, sources close to the singer say she is reeling from a double betrayal – not only by her husband of 14 years, music producer Robert "Mutt" Lange, but by a woman she considered a close friend.

Lange's relationship with Marie-Anne Thiébaud, 37, a longtime secretary and house manager at Twain and Lange's estate in Switzerland, was behind the breakup, say several sources familiar with the situation.

"Mutt and Marie-Anne left their spouses for each other and are still in a relationship," says one source, adding that the Swiss employee was a fixture in the household Twain, 42, and Lange, 59, shared with their son, 6-year-old Eja D’Angelo.

"Their two families would vacation and spend holidays together," says the source. "Shania considered Marie-Anne one of her best friends."

After the separation was announced, Lange told PEOPLE exclusively that an affair was "absolutely not the reason [for the breakup]... It's literally just a growing apart, that's all." He also denied that he was in a relationship with Thiébaud, saying, "It's not true."

Whatever the reason, Twain "is devastated," says the insider. "This came out of left field."

Jordin Sparks to David Cook: Get Some Sleep

She just handed over her crown, but season six champ Jordin Sparks is still dishing out the Idol-related advice. So, what does the 18-year-old singer have to say to new winner David Cook?

“Sleep as much as you can because you don’t get any sleep,” she told reporters after performing on Wednesday’s finale. “It’s a year later and I still haven’t gotten a whole eight hours of sleep yet … I’m still reeling from winning last year. But, I guess I would say just try and enjoy every moment you have.”

As for her favorite David, Sparks is as diplomatic as you might expect from a reigning Idol. “I voted for both of them last night so I can’t really say I had a favorite,” she said. “I got to meet both of them and they were so sweet! Both of them are going to be fine. I’m so proud of both of them.”

When it came to Cook’s victory, Sparks says it was a bit of déjà vu. “I was totally just reliving the moment that I won. “They were taking pictures and I was like, ‘I have to watch this, I’m sorry.’”

McCain Clashes with DeGeneres on Gay Marriage

Yep, he’s against it.

Republican presidential hopeful John McCain was politically polite with Ellen DeGeneres on Thursday, but he made his feelings clear about gay marriage.

"I just believe in the unique status of marriage between man and woman," McCain, 71, said on The Ellen DeGeneres Show. "And I know that we have a respectful disagreement on that issue. "

DeGeneres, 50, who plans to marry Portia DeRossi, 35, now that the state Supreme Court has overturned California's gay marriage law, responded: "It just feels like there is this old way of thinking that we are not all the same. We are all the same people, all of us. You're no different than I am. Our love is the same."

McCain wouldn't commit to DeGeneres's jesting proposal that he walk her down the aisle, but the two ended their dialogue on friendly terms.

"I, along with many, many others, wish you every happiness," McCain said.

Oprah Winfrey's 21-Day Diet Detox

With summer just around the corner, Oprah Winfrey is saying bye, bye to burgers – hello tofu and tempeh!

The talk show host, 54, is going vegan for a 21-day detox plan. In addition to swearing off animal products, Winfrey and three pals from her production company are also banning caffeine, sugar, gluten and alcohol.

What inspired the massive menu overhaul? The small-screen queen credits Kathy Freston's book Quantum Wellness and online sessions with Canadian motivational speaker Eckhart Tolle. (She's also getting help from chef Tal Ronnen.)

And as the detox progresses, Winfrey will be blogging the diet's ups and downs. (Her Web site will also include meal plans and recipes.)

"This 21-day cleanse gives me a chance to think about [eating] differently and see what my attachments are to certain kinds of foods – and what I'm willing to do to change," she wrote on Sunday (day one). "Don't know if I'm going to feel better or worse, but I'm willing to try to see if my body at least feels differently."

So far, Winfrey isn't missing her meat.

"I had been focused on what I had to give up – sugar, gluten, alcohol, meat, chicken, fish, eggs, cheese. 'What's left?' I thought," she wrote on day two. "Apparently a lot. I can honestly say every meal was a surprise and a delight, beginning with breakfast – strawberry rhubarb wheat-free crepes."

American Idol’s Luke Menard Diagnosed with Cancer

American Idol contestant Luke Menard has been diagnosed with lymphoma, a relative of the singer confirms to PEOPLE.

Menard, 29, thought he had walking pneumonia when he first sought medical treatment for a persistent cough. After doctors ran several tests, they found a mass behind his heart and removed a node from under his left collarbone.

According to the relative, a biopsy showed the mass to be a symptom of Stage Two Hodgkin’s Lymphoma, a cancer of the immune system.

While in Los Angeles, Menard, who frequently visited Idol to watch the show since being voted off on March 6, received an outpouring of support from his castmates. David Cook and Carly Smithson visited him at the hospital, while he received encouraging emails from other finalists. “That really meant a lot to him,” the relative says, adding that he and Cook are close.

Now back in his hometown of Crawfordsville, Ind., with his wife Lara, Menard is in treatment for the disease. “He is surrounded by his family,” the relative says. “They want to help him beat this and move on.”

His odds are good: with treatment, the survival rate is about 95 percent.

Amy Winehouse Shows Up Late for Awards Event

Amy Winehouse's father stood in for her Thursday as the troubled singer won a prestigious music award in London.

She showed up late, "literally as the award was being given to her dad," says her rep.

"Amy unfortunately couldn't make it," Mitch Winehouse told guests at the Ivor Novello Awards, where his daughter took the top song prize for "Love Is a Losing Game." "She's getting better, and she sends you all her love."

On Amy's behalf, the elder Winehouse thanked family members and friends "who continually send us their love and best wishes all the time and every day."

He added praise for her manager, Ray Grange, suggesting "he should be awarded the equivalent of a Victoria Cross" – a British medal for bravery on the battlefield.

Once she had shown up, Amy, 24, told the BBC, she was "very well" and "very excited and very flattered" to have won. She also wore a heart-shaped pin in her hair, with her husband Blake's name on it.

She had received two nominations for best song, and one for best-selling song – only to lose to Beyoncé and Shakira's "Beautiful Liar."

Other Winners
Other winners included Phil Collins, who was presented with his international achievement award by Robert Plant; songstress Gabriele, who won the outstanding song collection prize; and Mika, as songwriter of the year.

Mika, the Beirut-born, London-based "Grace Kelly" singer, 24, told PEOPLE that his new album has been on his mind "every morning, every night, every evening. I took a holiday. I lasted four days, I came back and went straight to work. It's not the point where I can take a holiday now."

Idol Winner David Cook Has ‘No Expectations’

After Ryan Seacrest announced Wednesday’s American Idol results — that David Cook had won by 12 million votes — the show’s newest winner, a bartender from Blue Springs, Mo., fulfilled his first duty as the American Idol: facing reporters. Backstage at the Nokia Theatre in L.A., Cook talked about getting a serious apology from Simon Cowell, beating 17-year-old David Archuleta and what it meant to have his mom and brother join him on the stage during his winning moment. –Jed Dreben

You won by 12 million votes but do you think it may have been more if Simon had apologized last night?
Well, Simon’s apology came a little bit late for the votes but I don’t really know that the apology was warranted. I thought what he said was an opinion and nothing more. But at no point did I feel disrespected. But, yeah, I’m appreciative of that fact that he decided to apologize. An apology from Simon is a pretty rare gem.

What do you expect from the year ahead?
I actually walked into this with no expectations and I’m walking out of it with no expectations. This show is a springboard, but it’s still a crapshoot. I could easily walk out of this arena and be just a regular Joe tomorrow. I hope that’s not the case. It’s kind of up to everybody else.

What went through you mind when you heard that you had won?
That my music teacher Mrs. Gentry made me sing in a Christmas pageant in second grade, and now I’m here. The ride has been pretty, pretty nuts. You know you couldn’t write this … or maybe you can, I don’t know maybe you guys can. But I can’t.

Did you think you were going to win?
I didn’t. You know, the respect that I have for David Archuleta is very much past a competitor thing. He has more talent at his age than I know what to do with at 25. So, to be able to share the stage with him was an honor for me. And I went into Tuesday just to have fun, and so the fact that I walk out of here as the next American Idol is not a testament to me so much as it’s a testament to the other 23 contestants we had this season, and to everybody behind the scenes.

What kind of album do you want to make?
A good one — that’s the kind of record I want to make.

How did it feel having your brother Andrew and your mom on the stage with you at the end?
It just made the whole experience full circle. In August, I stood in line in Omaha, Neb., at 5:30 a.m. when it was raining with no intention of auditioning and now I’m here and I got to share that moment with the same two people I stood in line with 7, 8 months ago, so, it was a nice bookend.

I want to have people that we can push and not have them break down the minute they can’t do something. It’s a long season for dancers. It isn’t like American Idol.
