Sure to Suck

Her acting career is in the crapper so….

Mischa Barton is coming out with her own line of handbags!

GREAT idea! Brilliant!

Mushy's line of handbags will be available in the UK starting July 2nd.

Fartone's collection is inspired by 'vintage finds' that were discovered during her travels, all finished with a flower logo hand drawn by the Mush herself.

There are no pics to show because Mush Mush wants to keep the designs under wraps until they hit stores.

She doesn't want us crapping on them just yet.

Wonder if she has a saddlebag in the collection????

Michael vs. Dina: Like Charlie & Denise!

The drama never ends for the Lohans, and we love it!

While Lindsay is lezzing out in Cannes….

Michael Lohan has just filed to reopen his divorce from Dina Lohan.

Michael claims he wants to see more of his two younger children, Aliana and Cody, and that Orange Oprah has gone bad on their agreement.

As for Lindsay and her older brother Michael, they can decide whether or not to visit dad on their own.

Michael Lohan says, "I gave her the house, the furniture, the dogs, the bank accounts, the $200,000 she owed me, just to see my kids. She doesn't bring them to see me. I haven't seen my kids in two months. She brought them to Vegas for her reality show, then to California. Before that, she missed 15 out of 29 appointments. She breached the contract."

Michael decided to give Dina a last chance on Tuesday to have her take the kids and meet him with the therapist.

Instead he says, "She went to [the] David Letterman [show]. She brought Ali. She never showed up or sent the kids. The taping finished before our appointment. She doesn't care. She does what she wants."

Michael claims Dina also prevents him from seeing the kids in other ways.

He adds, "I got Cody on a lacrosse team, and my girlfriend bought him $650 worth of equipment. Dina doesn't bring him to games or practices. If I was a maniac, I could understand it. I don't drink, I don't smoke. I work, I go to the gym, I go home. I just want to see my kids."

Poor guy. He's not the best father in the world, but we definitely think he's a better parent than Dina!

Must be hard trying to see your kids when the ex is trying to pimp them out for money on their new show and shit!

Back to Rehab (Yeah, Right!)

Amy Winehouse is heading to Isreal for some rehabbin', according to new British media reports.

Apparently, Wino's going to Israel because they offer some new approaches to treating drug addiction that her family and advisors hope will be more succesful.

Uh huh!

The Israeli doctor who'll reportedly be treating Wino explains that his method is proven to be more effective because drug addiction is approached as a neurological problem, rather than a social and psychological problem.

For Wino's sake we, REALLY hope it works- this time.

Doubt it, though!

Charlie Sheen and Denise Richards continue to battle it out!

The shiz these two are coming out with gets crazier by the day.

Loves it!

Richards tells the NY Post that Sheen obsessively sends her rage-filled text message. She explains:

"Last week, I sent Charlie a text message asking him if he's going to Family Day [for daughter Sam's school] and letting him know Sam was sick with a cold. His response was, 'I hope you and your worthless retarded father get cancer and join your stupid mom. Rot in hell you [bleeping] whore.' My mom died of cancer. This is what I deal with on a weekly basis. He missed Dad's day at the school and my father had to go in his place. And this is how he talks to me?"

And, of course, Richards, yet again, asserts that the e-mails sent to Charlie's fiance, Brooke Mueller, were fakes. Denise says, "I don't want Charlie's prostitute-tranny-infested sperm. I have two beautiful kids. We'll leave it at that. I am so over him. He's the one who can't move on. He's disgusting and he's hit an all-time low."

Touche!

Charlie appears to be in a take-no-prisoner's mode in the fight versus Denise.

Sheen's rep fires back, saying, "Denise seems to be denying the existence of [the] e-mail. This goes beyond a he-said-she-said. We have an offer from a [live] TV show. They will bring a computer expert to diagnose the e-mail and to verify it was sent by her e-mail address and to verify it was neither altered nor edited. Computer DNA - it is conclusive."

Ohh! We can't wait to see THAT TV show!

These are soooo crazy.

They're daughters are f---ed!

The Big Gal On Campus

Pink reader Courtney recently learned that her boss went to school with Tori Amos (who was then known as Ellen Amos) and sends in a few pics from Tori's senior yearbook. Here are pics of Tori as the Senior Princess along with a few members of her court and her prince:

I've seen a few photos of Tori back in her high school days but I don't recall seeing her princess photo so clearly. According to Courtney's boss, Myra Ellen was very popular in school -- she was voted Most Talented, Most Likely to Succeed and Best All-Around in her senior class. It's clear she was quite the beauty back then that she is now. I love this pic, much love and thanks goes out to Courtney and her boss for sharing smile.gif [thanks Courtney]

Her Royal Majesty Is Not Amused

Queen Elizabeth is pretty p.o.ed that her grandson Peter Phillips and his new bride Autumn Kelly made a deal to allow Hello! magazine to photograph their lavish wedding without alerting the Royal Family that the photographs would be published in their magazine. As a result, Her Royal Majesty has ordered that from here on out, no celebrity magazines will be allowed access to private family matters involving senior Royal family members:

Bitter recriminations were sweeping the Royal Family last night as the extent of Hello! magazine's royal wedding coverage became clear. Despite refusing to pose for magazine photographers, the Queen, Duke of Edinburgh, Prince of Wales and Duchess of Cornwall all feature in a two-page private family group portrait supplied by Peter Phillips and his Canadian bride Autumn Kelly. The Queen and Prince Philip can also clearly be seen in several shots taken from a balcony inside St George's Chapel at Windsor Castle during the marriage ceremony itself. Royal girlfriends Kate Middleton and Chelsy Davy appear prominently over 20 pages of the magazine's 100-page wedding special, despite complaining in recent years about alleged breaches of their privacy ... Prince William was not at Saturday's wedding in Windsor Castle as he was in Africa, attending another marriage with his ex-girlfriend, Jecca Craig. But he and brother Harry made it clear last night that they were 'deeply unhappy' about the Hello! affair said to have involved a £500,000 payment to Princess Anne's son and his bride. Well-placed sources insisted that neither of the princes, nor their girlfriends, were aware that photographs-taken either in the chapel or at the reception were going to be published in the magazine and were shocked when they saw how prominently they were displayed. "They knew that some kind of arrangement between Peter and Autumn and the magazine had been made but did not know the details and certainly didn't expect what they thought were private, family photographs to end up spread over half of Hello!," said one. "Neither Peter nor the magazine sought their approval - and if they had, it certainly would not have been given. What has happened has not gone down well at all. They are very unhappy about it. It's a real shame this has happened as Peter is a wonderful guy of whom they are really, really fond, but as far as Harry, Kate and Chelsy are concerned, they were just letting their hair down at a private family event. Yes, they saw the photographers but they had no idea who they were working for. There are always photographers at weddings." The finger of blame for the fiasco appeared to pointing firmly towards the bride and groom, with palace officials expressing their surprise that any members of the Royal Family had been photographed in the chapel. "That was not our understanding of how it would work," said one [official] ... Some courtiers suggested that the Queen was an unwitting ' victim' of the controversial deal. One senior royal source said: "There is a great deal of difference between being aware of what is happening and giving one's approval." Another added: "It's her grandson, so what can she do apart from insist that she and other senior members of the Royal Family are not photographed directly?" Others insisted, however, it was unthinkable that the monarch would not have been made aware of the arrangements well in advance and therefore had given her tacit approval to the set-up. Labour MP Ian Gibson said: "I think the British public would expect the Queen to rise above being pictured in the pages of Hello! She is the Queen, after all, not a footballer's wife." ... Peter Phillips, who is 11th in line to the throne, is the first of the Queen's grandchildren to marry and his wedding attracted the biggest royal attendance in years. A heavily-vetted handful of newspaper photographers and television cameramen were allowed into the grounds of Windsor Castle to capture the couple as they left the chapel but the rights for the rest of the day were controversially sold exclusively to Hello! While something of a celebrity norm, such deals are virtually unheard of when it comes to the Royal Family, particularly as several senior members are still funded by the taxpayer. Even by Hello! standards, 100 pages could be considered over the top. From its cover boasting World Exclusive: Fabulous pictures of the young royals at the fun-filled celebrations, the magazine's determination to leave no stone - and no member of the Royal Family, for that matter - unturned made uncomfortable reading for many courtiers yesterday. Indeed, despite an understanding that no senior member of the Royal Family would be photographed, every one of them, from the Queen and the Duke of Edinburgh to Prince Charles and the Countess of Wessex - who is embarrassingly pictured strutting her stuff on the dance floor - makes an appearance at some point along the line. Of the hundreds of photographs used, most feature the bride and groom in classic wedding poses with suitably gushing text to accompany them: the groom, they say, wore a smile which could 'melt a glacier' while the bride's eyes were 'dancing behind her veil'. There are also, rather embarrassingly, copious plugs for firms associated with the event including a brand of vodka served to younger guests at the reception and the champagne used for the toasts. More significantly, despite the vociferous protests of St George's Chapel staff, cameras were eventually allowed inside to capture the wedding ceremony - openly photographing royal girlfriends Kate Middleton and Chelsy Davy who had attempted to sneak inside the building without being spotted by the 'ordinary' newsmen ... Kate and Chelsy Davy feature in 19 photographs, many of which are spread over two whole pages.

Hello! magazine, I'm sure, is very pleased with all the attention this issue is receiving because it prolly means that more of their magazines will be sold as a result (to be completely honest, I don't think I've ever purchased a copy of Hello! magazine ... I think I'll pick up this issue just to see all "unauthorized" photos that have the Queen pitching a fit). Peter Phillips, meanwhile, is prolly worried that he's about to be cut from his grandmother's will ... I hope he made enough money on those pics to live out the rest of his life with his new bride.

Miss Single Singleton Jessica Simpson has also made her way back home from her post wedding jaunt to Cabo San Lucas, Mexico (where she jetted off to with her family on the day after her younger sister Ashlee was wed to Pete Wentz last weekend) ... here are pics of Jessica smiling and laughing with her friends as she makes her way thru an airport in Mexico bound for home:

HMMMM. At least Jessica had her single gal friends to pal around with on the beautiful beaches of Mexico. Sooooo, I guess Jessica is back home now ... alone ... Crackin' Skulls, Indy Delivers

Apologies for the smaller number of posts today but I'm due to be at LAX Airport shortly, bound for NYC, and I'll be out of commission for the rest of the day. Jim and I met up for a late dinner last night and then went to a midnight screening of Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull so I'm still a bit wiped from lack of sleep. Things will be back to normal around here tomorrow morn smile.gif

But before I go, I figured I'd post my thoughts on the new Indiana Jones flick for those of you interested in hearing what I thought of it. I am deffo of the mind that folks should see movies that they are interested in regardless of what others tell them ... fortunately for Indy, I'm happy to report that this movie will most likely satisfy all the diehard Indiana Jones fans out there who are hoping the movie is worth their money:

Let me get the negatives out of the way first. I kinda had a hard time dealing with the plotline once it was made clear what the Crystal Skull is and where it came from. I love that all of the Indiana Jones films have a moniker of the supernatural in them but the big bad in this movie is a hard pill to swallow ... for me at least. Think, Indiana Jones meets the X-Files. Yes, Indy is embroiled in an archeological adventure that takes him into the jungles of South America in search of treasure but it turns out the treasure is one left behind by aliens or "interdimensional beings". Um, yeah. If you can deal with that knowledge, then you will prolly love the whole movie. Indiana Jones spends a lot of time getting out of impossible situations (the refrigerator bit was so outrageous that I had to laugh out loud -- it's totally impossible and yet, so Indiana Jones). The movie is really silly (a lot sillier than I remember the other films were) but it hits all the right points that you'd expect from an Indiana Jones movie. The fight scenes are fun and the characters are very well-played. Cate Blanchett is a goddess ... her villainy in the film is remarkable. I loved every second she was on screen. Shia LaBeouf impressed me, yet again. The kid can act and will have a long and successful career, I'm sure of it. I like him in every movie I've seen ... he's deffo a star on the rise. Even tho it was a nice touch, I really could've done without Karen Allen as Marion Ravenwood ... it seemed like she was just shoved in there for nostalgic purposes. If she had given more from her character she would've been a welcome addition ... I felt her performance was totally phoned in. Harrison Ford still has the chops to be Indiana Jones ... he might be a bit clunkier, but when he exposes his chest as he cracks that whip -- well, it's easy to see how he managed to snag a youngster like Callista Flockhart.

The movie is fun, no matter how cheesy some parts are. I think the ending is way too over-the-top but, in the end, it's really the sort of finale that one might expect from a summer blockbuster. I doubt it'll break any records but I'm sure it'll bring joy to a great many fans out there.

A New Britney Album For '08?

WOOT! WOOT! The great Britney Spears news continues to come from her camp as People magazine reports that Britters has begun the initial stages of work on a follow-up album to her 2007 disc Blackout ... at least, according to producer and former flame JR Rotem:

Britney Spears is back in the recording studio with J.R. Rotem and Sean Garrett, the producers confirm to PEOPLE. "She's great," Rotem told PEOPLE at the BMI Pop Awards in Beverly Hills on Tuesday. "She's like a master at what she does. She's a lot more experienced than most people. She just has the 'it' factor that not every artist has. So it's always nice to work with her." Although Rotem, who briefly dated Spears in 2007, would not reveal any details of the project, a Spears family source tells PEOPLE that the pop star is in the early stages of a follow-up to her last album Blackout, which was released last October. "Britney is in the experimental stages of a new album," says the source. "She's trying to find the sound and direction she wants to go in, but nothing is set in stone just yet. She has been playing the piano a lot and just singing. She says she misses 'just singing.'" Producer Sean Garrett was mum on specifics but says that he and Spears, 26, have "a few things in the works." ... A rep for Spears's record label had no comment.

This is amazing news ... but to be completely honest, I was hoping that Britters might be a little further along on her new album than just "early stages". I hope that the producers are just play coy about how much work has been done since we've seen that Britney has been hanging out in recording studios for months now. I am holding out hope that Britney will release a new album this Fall and will get back on the schedule of a releasing a new album each year. If you consider how great Blackout turned out considering the mental state she was in last year, then this new album has the potential to be an absolute killer -- and then a tour?! Wee! I can't wait!!!

Jessica Simpson Wears Dallas Cowboys Hat Amidst Split Rumors

It's still mystery whether or not Jessica Simpson and Tony Romo are together.

But if they did call it quits, the split must be amicable.

Simpson sported a Dallas Cowboys cap while leaving Cabo San Lucas, Mexico, on Thursday.

The singer has been south of the border with just her parents, Joe and Tina, since her pregnant sister Ashlee tied the knot on May 17. (Romo and Simpson had taken trips with Joe and Tina before.)

(Ashlee, meanwhile, was in the Caribbean honeymooning with Pete Wentz.)

In a radio interview Tuesday, Wentz played coy when asked if Simpson and Romo were still an item.

"I don't know anything about what's going on with them," he told Ryan Seacrest. "I'm so busy clearing up my own rumors!"

At their wedding, Simpson and Romo "seemed like they were dancing. It seemed like it was a good time."

Charlie Sheen Texts Denise Richards: "I Hope You Get Cancer"

The feud between Denise Richards and Charlie Sheen that reignited this week is getting even uglier.

Richards, 37 - in NYC to promote her new E! reality show — is now claiming that Sheen, 42, sent her vulgar text messages attacking her father and mother, who recently died of cancer.

"Last week, I sent Charlie a text message asking him if he's going to Family Day [for daughter Sam's school] and letting him know Sam was sick with a cold," Richards told the New York Post.

"His response was, 'I hope you and your worthless retarded father get cancer and join your stupid mom. Rot in hell you [bleeping] whore,'" Richards claims. "My mom died of cancer. This is what I deal with on a weekly basis.

"He missed Dad's day at the school, and my father had to go in his place. And this is how he talks to me?"

Their ongoing war resumed Wednesday when Richards claimed on the Today show that Sheen faked e-mails from her, asking Sheen's fiancee, Brooke Mueller, for his sperm.

"I don't want Charlie's prostitute-tranny-infested sperm," Richards tells the Post. "I have two beautiful kids. We'll leave it at that.

"I am so over him," she says. "He's the one who can't move on. He's disgusting, and he's hit an all-time low."

Sheen's rep fired back: "Denise seems to be denying the existence of [the] e-mail. This goes beyond a he-said-she-said. We have an offer from a [live] TV show. They will bring a computer expert to diagnose the e-mail and to verify it was sent by her e-mail address and to verify it was neither altered nor edited. Computer DNA — it is conclusive.

"The only time Charlie has spoken on TV about her, they were sound bites at red-carpet visits or during set visits," the rep said. "He has not gone on multiple TV shows this week."

Ben Affleck: Be Cynical About Stars With Causes

Ben Affleck says it's important to be skeptical of celebrities who peddle pet causes, but that won't stop him from advocating for an end to the violence in Sudan.

"I think it's probably a healthy thing to keep that level of cynicism about celebrities who get involved with things," the actor told CNN in an interview from the war-torn country Thursday.

"[But] it's largely irrelevant what one thinks of me," he added. "I could be vain and self-aggrandizing, but it's totally irrelevant to what I've pointed the camera at – showing you something that is completely honest, which is that this situation and this potential civil war here demands attention regardless of what you think about me."

The Oscar winner said he has been traveling in Sudan to learn about the situation on the ground and talk to experts.

"I wanted to really feel like I understood the place and learn as much as I could about it, before I got into trying to be an advocate and kind of running my mouth about it," he said.

As many as 300,000 people have died over five years of war, famine and disease in Darfur, Sudan, according to the United Nations.

Britney's Key to Living Her Dreams

Britney's face was lit up yesterday during a special visit with her boys. Jayden James rested in his mommy's arms during their supervised quality time at her home. She also spent the day reading a self-help book called Key to Living the Law of Attraction: A Simple Guide to Creating the Life of Your Dreams by Jack Canfield, the man who brought us the popular Chicken Soup for the Soul series. Brit also took over a Bally's aerobics room but there was a little hiccup. The room already had people in it so the gym booted them out so Ms. Brit could have the room to herself. Maybe the book is working if she has the to power to clear out a gym room so quickly.

Grey's Anatomy Rundown: Episode 16, "Freedom"

The three words uttered most often during the season finale of Grey's Anatomy were "really big trauma." They were used in reference to a teenager who was dared to lay in a vat of cement at a construction site, after which he was encased in several tons of concrete — yeah, you can say "really big trauma" again. As is often the case with Grey's, those three little words paralleled what was happening in the lives of the doctors too.

Let's start with Meredith who was continuing the brain-tumor clinical trials with Derek. Due to medical regulations, they were allowed only one more day to succeed (following a staggering 11 deaths). To discuss what happened in this situation and with all the other residents' traumas, read more.

Of course, in true finale style, Derek and Meredith at first failed, but then miraculously succeeded at their difficult task. Meredith's personal life, unsurprisingly, rivaled the trauma going on with work. She finally made some progress with her therapist about her mother's attempted suicide. Progress that her therapist told her she'd have to figure out for herself. Was anyone else as confused as Meredith? Her discovery at the end of the episode was more fulfilling than I was expecting it to be, and she also made some exciting progress with Derek.

The other rather traumatic plot line of the night belonged to Alex. His pseudo-girlfriend Rebecca turned out to be just as delusional as last week's episode had foreshadowed. Rebecca even tried to commit suicide, but when Izzie suggested that she needed psychiatric help, Alex got, let's say. . . defensive. In the end, Rebecca proved to have underlying borderline personality disorder. I doubt we'll be seeing her much, if at all, next season.

Christina got out of the slump that she's been wallowing in since the show returned from its break. This was, most notably, because she received the sparkle pager. The pager allowed her to take any surgery she wanted, and as a result she was able to showcase her skills on the cement boy. Luckily, she was able to save the boy's life, a feat that made Erica Hahn extremely jealous. I knew Christina's tenure with Burke would prove beneficial.

George had a big night too: He discovered that he only failed the boards by one point. He got mad at himself at first, but then asked Richard to retake the boards and thankfully, Richard agreed. Something tells me we'll be seeing George as a resident early next season.

To wrap up the rest of the episode: Izzie was handed full reign over the clinic, Richard went back to his wife, Bailey learned to juggle being a working mom, and oh yeah, Derek promised to dump Rose for Meredith! Looks like the never-ending love saga will continue on through season five. And that makes me happy.

Some other thoughts:

* How dramatic was the cement boy story line? I was riveted. This is precisely what I was missing last week.
* I especially loved when Miranda tried to calm Mr. Cement down with a Star Wars analogy. Who knew she would prove to have such a vast knowledge of the films?
* I laughed out loud when the female tumor patient asked if Derek or Meredith had ever done it. "With each other?" Derek exclaimed. "He's done it and I've done it," Meredith responded. Awkward!
* Speaking of sex, the whole Callie, Mark, Erica hypothetical threesome story line kind of bored me. But — shocker lesbian twist at the end.
* I'm a little surprised there wasn't a big cliffhanger. Everything seemed to be tied up with a nice little bow, which is unusual for Grey's.

What did you think? Are you happy with the season finale? What are your predictions for Season Five?

Lily Allen Defends Topless Photos

British singer Lily Allen has responded to recent topless pictures of herself in a posting on her official MySpace page.

"I don't really like to respond to things I read about my self in the press but, for the record I was not thrown off anybody's yacht in Cannes," writes Allen. "Occasionally I drink wine with lunch and yes I swim topless. This, in my book, is not embarrassing behavior."

Allen, 23, also addressed a recent meeting with her ex-boyfriend, Chemical Brothers musician Ed Simons, for lunch. The two broke up earlier this year after Allen miscarried the baby the couple were expecting. "I went to lunch with my ex boyfriend yesterday," she writes. "Lunch. I am not some failed baby making machine desperately trying to win my man back ... Ed and I are friends, who went for lunch yesterday, that's it."

She continues: "Yes I like to drink and yes I have my bad days, but that doesn't mean I'm out of control. I'm perfectly capable of looking after myself thank you very much."

Allen is currently working on her second album and leaked two new songs in a blog posting on her site on April 17. Allen, whose ska influenced debut was Alright, Still, said she wanted her fans to "get an idea of my new direction."

Jackie Chan Plans Film About Chinese Earthquake

Jackie Chan plans to make a film highlighting the plight of victims of last week's earthquake in China – where the death toll is closing in on the 60,000-person mark and more than 5 million people have been left homeless.

The martial arts screen hero, 54, returned to his home country as soon as he heard about the 7.9-magnitude quake and also plans to raise money through benefits for the victims, he's announced.

"Events for us are easy," he told PEOPLE. "I can spend six years doing a movie, but I can plan an event in 72 hours. An event we're doing on June 1 in Hong Kong will include more than 100 artists from Asia."

Even so, Chan said at a press conference in London Friday, there is still a lot more to be done, and "I want to do whatever I can to help."

After visiting hospitals in the devastated areas and seeing schools and houses that were destroyed, the Hong Kong-born Chan decided that the victims of the earthquake were his main priority.

Chan said he has already donated $1.4 million to those affected and had praise for the international communities that have come to China's aid. "One thing that really touched me was the help offered from the whole world. From Britain, Korea – everyone was there to help," he said.

As of midday Friday, American and international donations to the earthquake zone had reached $3.6 billion, according to State Council officials, CNN reports.

Chan, who has a tradition of donating to charity, will be holding a meeting Saturday to discuss plans for his intended film. "There are so many touching stories," he said. "Through this movie, we will be able to show the whole world what happened. This will also be another way to raise money."

Rihanna Has 'Hot' Chemistry with Maroon 5

When Maroon 5 gave her a call, pop star Rihanna couldn’t resist working with one of her favorite bands.

“I was like, 'Any song – I don't care if it's a song that I don't like – I want to do it because Maroon 5 is dope,' " Rihanna told GMTV's Carla Romano in a recent interview.

The feeling is mutual, assured Maroon 5 frontman Adam Levine, who collaborated with the sexy Barbados-born singer for the group's next single, "If I Never See Your Face Again."

"She's obviously beautiful and talented and amazing, and I just thought, 'Hey, there's really no better choice. ' "

Levine and his bandmates found the chemistry on set nearly overwhelming.

"I always find it hard to concentrate, so she doesn't make it any easier!" he said.

Rihanna also felt the vibes, she said. Asked to describe Levine in one word, she replied: "Hot!"

Rose McGowan Pads Her Foot Cast for Red Carpet Run

Talk about dedication: Running downstairs to meet her trainer, Rose McGowan broke her left foot – but finished her workout anyway.

"I thought I'd kept my trainer waiting too long downstairs, so I was running and my foot just hit the edge of the doorway," the former Charmed star told PEOPLE Thursday at Cannes' annual amfAR Cinema Against AIDS dinner. "It just happens to be stone and that didn't work out well! But I did not miss my workout. I stuck ice on it, did my upper body, and then went to the hospital."

McGowan's black cast was mostly hidden beneath her floor-length Dolce & Gabbana gown.

"The doctor thought I was crying because I was in pain but I told him it was because I have to go to Cannes and I refuse to wear flats," McGowan said (lifting up her skirt to show the cast on her left foot and a Sergio Rossi heel on her right). "Tonight I put padding beneath the cast and now it's the same height as the heel. Genius!"

The accident happened about two weeks ago, and she expects to be wearing the cast for another month.

Usher Calls Fatherhood & Marriage 'Amazing'

Dance-loving talk show host Ellen DeGeneres may have met her match: Usher. The R&B star and new dad stopped by The Ellen DeGeneres Show to show off his moves and talk about his most "amazing" project to date.

"He is my reason for living," the singer tells Ellen of his 6-month old son, Usher Raymond V, with wife Tameka. "[Aside from] my wife, obviously, for helping me have him."

In the episode airing Friday, the newlywed also says of his bride: "She's built up ... the foundation of who I am. I want to see more men standing with their women. I want to see more men be open and honest about where they are in life."

And speaking of honesty, when asked what surprised him most about having a baby, the star replied with a laugh: "That I had him – that was a big surprise!"

That – and "learning more and more about the beauty of fatherhood," he said. "As an African-American, to be there for my child is so important when there are so many young African-American kids without their fathers. I just want him to grow up to be as wise as he can possibly be, kind and open hearted. [Fatherhood] changes everything about me."

Of recent Internet rumors that Usher and Tameka had filed for separation, his manager Benny Medina told PEOPLE: "It's 100% not true. Usher and Tameka are currently traveling in Europe together as a family on his promotional tour. This rumor is completely false."

Kate & Lance Dance and Kiss in Cannes

Kate Hudson and Lance Armstrong only had eyes for each other at Dolce & Gabbana's annual party in Cannes Friday.

The pair kissed and danced to old Madonna songs and other '80s favorites. "They were beaming at each other," a source tells PEOPLE. "So cute."

In a VIP room so packed that Petra Nemcova couldn't get in, Hudson and Armstrong chatted briefly with Cannes juror Natalie Portman, who was holding hands with her folk-rocker beau Devendra Banhart. (Unlike all the other female celebrity guests, Portman wore Chanel because she decided to come to the party at the last minute.)

Other guests at the packed party, held at Baoli restaurant and club, included Lindsay Lohan (who made a brief appearance in the briefest of green dresses), Rose McGowan (who partied until 5:30 am, broken foot and all), Kerry Washington, Naomi Campbell, Dita von Teese and Diddy.

Michelle Williams & Brad Pitt's Fireside Chat

Michelle Williams celebrated her second Cannes premiere at a party in a private villa in the hills above the French city.

And guess who stopped by? Brad Pitt!

Pitt, 44, chatted briefly with Williams, 27, by the fire at the Villa St. Antoine in Vallauris, France. The party – for about 200 people – celebrated the premiere of Synecdoche, New York, Williams's film with Philip Seymour Hoffman, Catherine Keener and Samantha Morton.

At the party, which featured tents on the lawn, Pitt drank champagne and talked for nearly an hour with longtime friend Keener. He showed her pictures of his kids on his iPhone and talked about how excited he was for the birth of his twins with Angelina Jolie. (Keener clearly was excited too – she kept announcing to callers on her own cell phone that she was chatting to "BP.")

Pitt also took the opportunity to practice the second language in the Jolie-Pitt household, chatting briefly – in French! – to a guest.

Britney's Fashionable Night Out – With Dad

It was a girls' night out – plus dad – for Britney Spears Friday.

Spears, in a black dress and sun-kissed blonde hair, told PEOPLE she's doing "good" at Ed Hardy designer Christian Audigier's 50th birthday party at L.A.'s Petersen Automotive Museum.

Spears, 26, hung with two girlfriends in a roped-off VIP area at Audigier's blowout gala. Fergie, Snoop Dogg, Pamela Anderson and – surprise! – Michael Jackson also made appearances.

Jamie Spears joined his daughter, sitting on a couch about five feet away with his head resting on his hands.

Spears stayed about an hour and a half, smoking cigarettes on an outside patio, nodding her head to a live performance from Macy Gray, and abstaining from alcohol. When she left for the evening, her father joined her.

"I am friends with Britney," Audigier told PEOPLE before the party. "She was at my office, I believe, three weeks ago. She got some presents for Jamie-Lynn and herself too. She got a ton of T-shirts, a ton of caps. She loved it."

Spears left the party before Jackson, clad in a shiny blue shirt, came onstage to wish Audigier happy birthday.

Jamie Spears' full-time job is now working for his daughter as conservator of her estate, court papers show.

The pop star returned home from a Costa Rican vacation at Mel Gibson's house earlier this week.

Wedding Bells for High School Musical's KayCee Stroh

Actress KayCee Stroh, who plays High School Musical's pop-and-lock girl Martha Cox, got engaged to boyfriend Ben Higginson early Saturday morning, she tells PEOPLE exclusively.

"We shot from 6 p.m. until 6 a.m., and Ben was waiting for me in my trailer," Stroh says. "He was waiting for me with a single red rose. Then he took me up to the H Rock, a place at the top of a little mountain that overlooks Salt Lake City, and we watched the sunrise. Then he got down on one knee and asked me to marry him."

Higginson, 24, presented Stroh with "the most amazing ring," she gushes. "It's a princess cut solitaire diamond surrounded by pave set diamonds. I don't ever want to take it off!"

Stroh, 23, is shooting the third installment of the popular HSM franchise in Utah with Zac Efron, Vanessa Hudgens, Ashley Tisdale, Monique Coleman, Corbin Bleu and Lucas Grabeel. None of her costars know about the news yet.

"They are going to be so surprised," Stroh says. "They all love Ben. He's like one of the gang."

Stroh and Higginson, who owns a production company in Salt Lake City, met at a concert in 2007. They are planning a late 2008 wedding.

Steven Curtis Chapman's Daughter Laid to Rest

With laughter and tears, Grammy-winning Christian singer Steven Curtis Chapman and his family said goodbye Saturday to their 'cuddle bug,' daughter Maria Sue. The 5-year-old died three days earlier after being accidentally struck at their Franklin, Tenn., home by a reversing SUV driven by her brother.

In a two-hour memorial service at Christ Presbyterian Church in Nashville that drew more than 700 mourners, Maria was remembered for her love of drawing flowers, playing in the water, snuggling with her family – and doing dishes "buck naked." She "loved, loved, loved to be naked," laughed her mother, Mary Beth. Maria, the family's youngest, was one of three daughters adopted from China by the couple, who formed the charity Shaohannah's Hope (shaohannahshope.org) to help other families wanting to adopt.

The couple, along with their three older biological children and their two other adopted daughters, Shaohannah, 8, and Stevey Joy, 5, were all barefoot during the service as a mark of reverence to ground made holy, they said, by the loss of Maria. Standing in front of the tiny white coffin covered with pink flowers, they took turns holding the young girls in their arms and embracing the son whose car hit Maria. Tears streamed down the 17-year-old's face and he wore Maria's pink security blanket around his neck throughout the service. In a letter Shaohannah had written to God and her lost sister that her father read aloud, she asked for prayers for her brother. "He has been sobbing," she wrote.

The family raised their arms as they sang songs of worship and sought comfort in their faith. "We had talked [with Maria] about what it meant to be with Jesus," Chapman said. "I had no idea how soon it was going to be, but we know she is in His amazing house, playing in the water."

Selena Gomez Takes Early Stand Against DUIs

She's not a licensed driver yet, but Selena Gomez, 15, is distancing herself early from the drunk driving woes plaguing young Hollywood.

Despite the rain, the Wizards of Waverly Place star visited a DUI checkpoint Friday evening in Los Angeles – along with 30 local high schoolers – to watch law enforcement in action.

"I just wanted to get educated," said Gomez, who'll get her license in July. "Drunk driving is obviously a serious issue that we all need to be aware of."

A self-professed good girl (she's worn a purity ring since age 12 that reads "True Love Waits"), Gomez says the Hollywood scene and partying "doesn't appeal to me."

"I'm kind of lame," she laughs. "I prefer quiet evenings at home, hanging out with my family."

Despite recent public gaffes of other young stars, Gomez says she's doesn't feel undue pressure as a role model.

"But I'm always cautious about what I do, what I'm wearing, and what I say because parents and kids trust me to do the right thing," she adds. "It's a good kind of pressure."

Asked if she learned anything from watching suspected drunk drivers get pulled over by the Beverly Hills Police for several hours, she joked, "Yeah, that I'm afraid of cops."

"But seriously, I feel a lot safer with these checkpoints in place, and it was great to see other kids come out for this."

Said Danielle Finn, 17, a high school junior who had a classmate killed by a drunk driver, "It's great that Selena came out. It shows other kids that you don't have to drink to be cool."

Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of Angry Communists

In a case of life immitating art, Indiana Jones really has pissed off the Russians.

Communist Party members in Russia want to ban Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull from local theaters, calling it anti-Soviet propaganda that distorts history.

The action-adventure blockbuster is set in 1957 and finds everyone's favorite aging archaeologist (Harrison Ford) racing against an evil Russian KGB agent (Cate Blanchett) to track down a legendary skull with otherworldly powers.

"It's rubbish," said Sergei Malinkovich, a leader for the St. Peterburg Communist Party. "In 1957 the Communists did not run with crystal skulls throughout the U.S. Why should we agree to that sort of lie and let the West trick our youth?"

Another angered Soviet even wants to ban the movie's stars from entering Russia.

"Harrison Ford and Cate Blanchett [are] second-rate actors, serving as the running dogs of the CIA," the communist member wrote on a blog. "We need to deprive these people of the right of entering the country."

We'd laugh...but, seriously, we don't want Communists coming after us, too.

Britney's Ballyhoo Explained

Trying to squeeze in a little gym time after a hard day’s work? You're out of luck if Britney Spears is around!

A number of exercise buffs at Bally Total Fitness were denied their daily dose of endorphins earlier this week because Spears was scheduled to work out at the same time in the same room.

John Wildman, chief marketing officer for the fitness chain, explained to E! News:

"What happened was we mistakenly double-booked the exercise room. Spears was in there for a 7 p.m. workout with her trainer, who booked the room. He did not realize that there was a 7:30 p.m. exercise class to start a half-hour later."

Naturally, in a Celebrity vs. Civilian matchup, the A- (or even the B- or C-) lister always wins. Brit kept at it while the sweat-deprived civilians were plied with water, nutrition bars and gift certificates, and sent on their way.

They were assured the mix-up would never happen again.

Ashl33n really did have themselves a goth wedding ... except for when Ashlee walked down the aisle in her white Monique Lhuillier wedding dress, even she changed into a black outfit for the affair. I love their idea of having a photobooth on site so that all the wedding attendees could take photos for the guest book. Brills. The article also reveals that Ashlee is planning on changing her name to Ashlee Simpson-Wentz ... whether that will be her stage name is another matter (my guess is that it will not be changed). The photos are ... interesting ... fans of the couple should rush out and get copies to see the rest of the happy pics.

Graceful Exit

Naomi Campbell celebrated her 38th birthday in style this week, rollin' like a big dawg on P. Diddy's massive yacht in Cannes, France that is until Naomi got into a "heated" discussion with Diddy that led to her being expunged from the watercraft ... which, of course, resulted in a tumultuous onslaught of tears and overdramatic nonsense from the lovely Miss Naomi. Here are a few pics of her travesty dealing with the horror of being publicly embarrassed by mean ol' Diddy and further public embarrassment as she crumpled in a mess of sobs in front of the paparazzi:

Glamazon Naomi Campbell celebrated her 38th b-day Wednesday by getting into some ridiculous drama! So when Naomi ... showed to party on Diddy's yacht in Cannes, the s**t hit the fan! Sources say the poster child for anger management got into a mayjah confrontation with Diddy -- and he threw a sobbing Naomi off the boat. Happy birthday to you!

Thus far, there's been no word on what the confrontation with Diddy was all about but it couldn't possibly be more entertaining than the aftermath. It's really a sight to see this 15 ft. supermodel, dripping in diamonds, carrying on as if someone close to her had just been brutally murdered right in front of her. And I mean, she was really a mess ... she was so bizzy crying that it didn't even occur to her to hit someone ... anyone in her close vicinity. Hahahahahaha. Poor Naomi.

How Clean Is Your House?

Amy Winehouse never ceases to amaze and entertain with her kooky yet strangely humorous behavior. While most sane and sober folks are happily content with sleeping thru the wee hours of the morning, Amy finds that time of the morning to be her most productive. In recent weeks and months, Amy has been spotted roaming the streets of London while bloodied and boozed in search of groceries (and other things) on a semi-nightly basis. Last night, Amy decided to stay in and do a bit of spring cleaning. Here are a few pics of our favorite tragedy taking out the trash after a long night of frantic housekeeping:

I quite like the head-wrap she's wearing ... we wouldn't want her to get dust in her beehive or anything like that. Why this insane woman hasn't been turned into a reality show is beyond me. I realize that I complain about her all the time for being a frantic mess who really doesn't deserve much attention and yet ... I cannot stop being intrigued by her ridiculousness. I would really love to know what the thought process was that got Amy in a cleaning mood rather than in her usual self-destructive mood. I want to know what clicked in her brain that said, Let's clean the house today! She is such a mess ... but at least she's a cleaner mess today than she was the day before.

How To Party Responsibly

Audigier's newest friend, Britney Spears, was in the hiz last night for the celebration (and Papa Jamie Spears came along to accompany her/keep an eye on her) as well as was the gaudiest one of all -- Michael Jackson -- who made a surprise appearance. Sounds like it was a party fit for a queen:

It was a girls' night out – plus dad – for Britney Spears Friday. Crybaby

Those industrious chaps at TMZ got themselves a-hold of recorded phone conversations between the currently incarcerated Nick Hogan (who is serving an 8 month jail sentence for causing an accident that nearly killed his friend John Graziano and has left him hospitalized in a semi-vegetative state) and his parents Hulk/Terry and Linda Hogan wherein Nick complains about how difficult it is for him to handle the reality of incarceration, he blames what happened to Graziano on Graziano because he was a "negative person" and wherein Nick's parents soothe their imprisoned son by talking ill of Graziano's family -- specifically his mother who Mama Hogan calls "nasty and vindictive":

I'm absolutely stunned that these self-righteous and egotistical people are able to properly function in society. Never once does anyone lay any of the blame for this horrible accident (and the numerous accidents and traffic infringements that occurred before this most recent one that almost killed a man) on Nick -- who was drinking and driving on the night of the occurrence. Linda Hogan thinks that Graziano's mother is vindictive? Well, if some idiot kid almost killed my son and left him totally incapacitated in a hospital then I might be a little pissed myself. For Linda Hogan to claim that she is suffering more than Graziano's mother is a complete joke. These people seem like horrible people to me ... hearing their conversations really show what they are all about -- themselves. You'd think that the Hogan parents would be ecstatic that their son wasn't killed or even injured in any way considering the magnitude of this accident. You'd think the Hogan parents would spend as much time as they can teaching their son that he was at fault and he should be sorry for almost killing a man. You'd think they'd be so willing to do anything they can with their outrageous wealth to try and help the Graziano family heal in any way possible. You'd think. In one of the conversations, Hulk and Nick talk strategy on how to get a TV show out of Nick's eventual release from jail -- if there is any justice in the world, they will not only NOT get a TV show like this but they will also lose every penny they have in a lawsuit brought against them by the Graziano family and that they will really understand what suffering is. I hope they are prepared for the karmic retribution that is to come ... my guess is that they have no idea.

When asked if he felt relieved when the whole Idol experience was over, Cook said, “Yes, in a way. The whole show, the eight-month process from first audition to this, it feels like you’re holding your breath a little bit. And I’ve been asked a few times why I cried at the end. And for me, that was just an exhale, to step back and really think about what just happened. It’s pretty heavy.
