New 'Friday the 13th' gets female lead

Danielle Panabaker has been cast as the female lead in the new "Friday the 13th" film, which Marcus Nispel is directing for Platinum Dunes. The horror flick is a negative pickup for New Line.

Also joining the cast like lambs to the slaughter are Jonathan Sadowski, Travis van Winkle and Aaron Yoo.

The project, an update of the popular horror series featuring the goalie mask-wielding killer Jason, already features Jared Padalecki in the cast.

Panabaker is playing the adventurous, athletic girlfriend of van Winkle, who plays a rich alpha male type that gathers everyone together.

Yoo's character, named Chumbler, is a guy who's a little quirky and has a tendency to wear his attraction to pretty girls on his sleeve. Sadowski plays a techie who knows the horrific history of Camp Crystal Lake.

Van Winkle, repped by Gersh and Freeze Frame, most recently appeared in "Meet the Spartans." Yoo, repped by Gersh and Blue Ridge, appeared in "Disturbia," and Sadowski next appears in "Spring Breakdown." He is repped by WMA and Essential.

Panabaker most recently appeared opposite Kevin Costner in "Mr. Brooks." She's repped by CAA, Management 360 and attorney Patrick Knapp.

Did Club-Hopping Lindsay Diss Jessica?

With her career floundering and her once fetching freckled face seemingly aging in dog years, Lindsay Lohan probably has bigger worries than whatever magazine pose Jessica Simpson is striking.

Or not.

The New York Daily News says the sobriety-challenged starlet was chuckling with pals last week over Jessica's new Esquire cover, in which the blonde pays unintentionally unsexy homage to a 1965 photo of Marilyn Monroe-esque actress Virna Lisi lathered up and shaving.

New York Magazine

"I so already did that," she supposedly laughed to her friends, alluding to her butt nekkid Monroe reenactment in the pages of New York magazine.

But is Lohan now planning to bare everything on the big screen?

So says the London Sun, which claims the actress, 21, who recently landed a role in the Jack Black comedy "Ye Olde Times," is willing to accept just $80,000 to star as a "nymphomaniac waitress" (paging the Academy) in an indie flick titled "Florence."

"Lindsay doesn't care she's getting paid peanuts. She wants to remind people she can act and that she is worth hiring," a source asserts to the tab, with a "pal" adding, "She is fully aware of the potential of her body. Lindsay wants to build up an image as a mature, responsible actress."

But Lohan's spotlight-craving mom-ager Dina, who labeled her nudie New York mag pics "tastefully done" art, denies the full-frontal whispers, insisting to "Access Hollywood" that "she is not" planning to doff her duds.

Which is good, because there are far better ways to prove you're "mature" and "responsible" than by showing off naughty bits that everyone with an Internet connection has already seen many times before.

Like, for example, staying away from the places that helped land you in rehab on three separate occasions.

The college course-needing Lindsay was photographed exiting Los Angeles hot spot Foxtail on Friday night with her BFF, DJ Samantha Ronson.

The following evening, Ronson "threw her arms" around Lohan at Teddy's as Mariah Carey's "Touch My Body" played and "the two moved to the music," says People.

It was the same story on Thursday when the pair turned up in the VIP section of Goa, where Lindsay got her groove on as Ronson DJ'd.

"Lohan was obviously having a good time, dancing very sexy," a bystander tells the mag. "She was quite the center of attention."

All eyes were also on her when she popped into nightclub Villa earlier in the week.

"Lindsay came in with her head down pretending she didn't want to be noticed," an eyewitness tells FoxNews.com. "But it's a small club and she stopped right in the middle where everybody could see her acting all coy."

Meanwhile, is Lohan's overly active social calendar preventing her from visiting her ailing paternal grandparents?

Her Chatty Cathy dad Michael tells the New York Daily News that Dina has made it "hard as hell for me to see my children."

"Even though my father is dying and my mother was in a car accident on Easter, my parents still haven't seen my children," rails the media-courting Papa Lohan. "[Dina] told me, 'It's up to the kids if they want to see their grandparents.' But she's made no effort to put them in touch or make this happen."

Michael is also planning to file suit against his ex-wife over her forthcoming E! reality show, "Living Lohan," alleging she lifted the idea -- and the title -- from him.

"Dina uses people, gets what she wants and then turns her back on them or claims the ideas were hers all along," Michael fumes to Us. "She thinks the law doesn't apply to her or her family since they always get away with things and use Lindsay's name to do it."

He then concludes to the Daily News, "She's bent on an evil path."

Nanny's Family Speaks Out in Rob Lowe Case

The family of Rob Lowe's former nanny describe the 24-year-old woman at the center of the nasty sexual harassment case as caring, cautious and concerned about the actor's two sons.

"I was shocked when I heard about everything [and] I worry about her capability to cope with things," says Jessica Gibson's father Jim, 63, a technology executive.

In a lawsuit, Jessica Gibson claims Lowe repeatedly exposed himself and inappropriately touched her. Lowe counters that Gibson made up the allegations in an extortion scheme.

But Gibson's father tells PEOPLE: "She felt being a nanny was perfect for her. She liked it." The Lowes, he says, "were working her ridiculous hours" as Jessica looked after the couple's sons, Matthew, 14, and John Owen, 12.

Loving and Discreet
Jessica's mother, Eileen Gibson, a teacher who lives in Lake Elmo, Minn., finds it "absurd to say she tried to extort from the family. She is very compassionate, very caring and honest. She has a gift for working with kids. She loves them. She's very gentle and kind and values her family very much."

When it came to Jessica's professional life, "She has been absolutely discreet about her job, and we did not discuss that," says her mother, who is divorced from Jessica's father.

Recalls Jessica's older sister, Kelly Gibson, 28, "She was always the babysitter growing up. She's Auntie Jessie to my daughter Alicia. I always told her she would be the best mother and wife."

During her employment by the Lowes, "Jess had a change of personality when she was working for them and when she wasn't," says her sister. "She loved those boys. She looked out for them and worries about them. That was the hardest thing about leaving."

David Cook’s Brother ‘Blown Away’ by Chance to Attend Idol

A front row seat to an American Idol performance just might be the best medicine. At least that’s the diagnosis from Adam Cook’s friends and supporters in Terre Haute, Ind., who arranged a $45,000 trip on a chartered medical jet to Los Angeles for David Cook’s brother so he could see him perform.

Adam, who is undergoing chemotherapy for brain cancer, watched his brother David, an Idol favorite, perform Mariah Carey’s hit “Always Be My Baby” from a front row seat during Tuesday’s live broadcast.

“I am blown away,” he said in an interview Wednesday with B1027.FM, a local radio station that helped facilitate his trip. “The support of the community made this possible, it literally just lifted my spirits to know I’m from Terre Haute. That might sound corny, but it’s the God’s honest truth. My feelings for back home were just amplified.”

So far the trip is well worth it. “I’m not going to lie to you. He still has a tough road ahead of him,” Adam’s longtime friend Darrick Scott tells PEOPLE. “But this trip to Los Angeles has put a whole new pep in his step.”

“This has just been incredible for the family,” says Julie Henricks, midday host of B1027.FM. “Adam hadn’t wanted to get out of the house in three weeks. Now, he’s out sightseeing in Los Angeles. [His wife] Kendra says Adam is a different person.”

Getting the VIP treatment probably didn’t hurt. “They came in and asked if it was okay if they seated Teri Hatcher and Minnie Driver next to us,” Adam, 36, said Wednesday in the interview. “When Teri sat down, I didn’t even know who she was. She weighed all of 90 pounds. I expected her to be taller. But I’m not stupid. I figured it out. She’s a desperate housewife and hey, I’m a desperate house something.”

Having his brother in the front row may have been the inspiration for David, who, according to judge Randy Jackson, gave the “most brilliant performance yet.”

“I’m not really very emotional,” Adam’s wife Kendra said in the same interview. “But I was crying when David sang. It was just the moment. I can honestly say it was so much fun.”

The judges — Jackson, Paula Abdul and Simon Cowell — were also inspired. “Randy came over and asked, ‘Are you the A.C., from the guitar? And he was like ‘Dog, that’s so awesome,’” Kendra told the radio station (David sometimes performs with a guitar with his brother’s initials on it and has an “A.C.” tattoo). “Paula came over and when Adam stuck out his hand, she said, ‘No, I want a hug.’ And Simon came over after the show and said, ‘You should be very proud of your brother. He’s a very nice man. You’re welcome here anytime.’” –Pam Grout

Forgetting Sarah Marshall (2008)

THE EX FILES Jason Segel (pictured, with Mila Kunis), the hero of Forgetting Sarah Marshall is
less cartoony than other Judd Apatow movie men — and still really funny

Wrong as it is to objectify the male body, I'll make an exception for that of Jason Segel in Forgetting Sarah Marshall. As anyone presold on the aptly classified ''romantic disaster comedy'' probably already knows, the writer and star appears quite emphatically naked, from all angles, very early in the game: As struggling L.A. musician Peter Bretter, he's first seen toweling off at home, anticipating the arrival of his girlfriend of the title (Kristen Bell), a TV star in the magnificently named CSI-like hit series Crime Scene: Scene of the Crime. Peter is feeling frisky, but Sarah, very much the perky media professional, is feeling fed up with the guy after nearly six years of using him as a handbag-holding service at red-carpet events, and has a breakup on her agenda. It's a credit both to the vulnerability of the dumpee (and his refusal to make the business any easier for the dumper) as well as to Segel's love of the hilarity of discomfort that Peter remains altogether in the altogether throughout the kiss-off. Shocked and pleading for a hug from his departing blond cutie, his exposed man flesh looks all the more alien and ungainly when pressed up against his about-to-be-ex's clothed, compact form. Nakedness has rarely looked so...naked. And innately, universally comic.

As embodiments go, the Segel physique, a long, pale, uncooked dinner roll of a shape, is an apt one for the attractions of this very funny, very chewy, partially undercooked comedy. Indeed, with even more ferocity of purpose and Andy Kaufman-school fearlessness than that roly-poly Seth Rogen in Knocked Up or noodly-oodly Christopher Mintz-Plasse in Superbad, Segel embraces the destiny of male anatomy in yet another clever creation from the Judd Apatow Alumni Association; this one, too, speaks from the male heart (and other parts) in a language accessible to females. Yet it does so with a fresh yeastiness I haven't already seen in other Apatovian products. The droopy physical doughiness of the hero (and his fearless creator), with his hangdog posture and flatfooted walk, is key to his unlikely attractiveness. He's not a nerd, not a commitmentphobe, not an adult virgin in need of special handling or a stripling looking for experience. He's just a less-than-ab-toned man of pleasant musical talents (his dream project is a musical about Count Dracula, with puppets) and recognizable neuroses, at least temporarily on the wrong end of the relationship equation.

And he's got the breakup blues bad. Peter sobs, drinks, has meaningless sex (after which he sobs some more), screws up at work, and falls apart. And thus ''girlified,'' with all the expressed neediness more traditionally ascribed to the touchier-feelier sex, he takes the advice of his intermittently apoplectic married step-brother (indispensable SNL player Bill Hader) to take a healing vacation in Hawaii, where flesh goes for braising. What are the odds that Sarah would be there too, at the same resort, accompanied by her new dude, a beaded, bangled, and tattooed British rocker with the perfect Blighty name of Aldous Snow (Russell Brand)? One hundred percent.

A dark-haired new woman helps Peter forget Sarah Marshall; she's a cat-eyed beauty named Rachel (Mila Kunis) who works at the hotel and is as magically unpretentious, easygoing, and attracted to the hurtin' Peter as Sarah is brittle and duplicitous. (In fact, Bell, from Veronica Mars and Heroes, is excellent playing the tricky role of Hardass Girl to Kunis' more sympathetic Softshoulder Girl.) But Forgetting Sarah Marshall really does forget Sarah Marshall, or at least puts her in perspective — her and all the Sarahs who mess with the heads of their Peters. For better, and sometimes for worse, first-time director Nicholas Stoller (yet another graduate of the Undeclared Academy — will any feature-comedy maker today who isn't please step forward?) lets the action shamble along, as Segel and his co-conspirators riff on varieties of male bewilderment. 30 Rock's Jack McBrayer plays up his rube-at-the-luau skills as a virginal newlywed who can't figure out which end of his lusty new wife (Maria Thayer) is up; Paul Rudd is priceless (yep, as ever) as a stoner surfer; Jonah Hill has a small, excellently cringe-inducing role as a suck-up to Aldous' rock godliness. Jawing about pop culture with typical School of Judd razor wit, these men might be giants. The rest of the time, they're merely hilariously mortal. B+

SETTLE WITCH'S BREW-HAHA
JUDGE URGES POTTER TRUCE

J.K. Rowling, meet Charles Dickens.

A judge yesterday told Harry Potter's creator she could learn an important lesson by reading an even more famous British au thor, as he urged both sides to come to an agreement in their contentious copyright case.

"I think this case, with imagination, could settle," Manhattan federal Judge Robert Patterson said at the start of the trial's third day.

"My father used to read to me, novels, Shakespearean tragedies, not comedies," Patterson said. "As you recall in Dickens' 'Bleak House,' there was a man named Jarnydyce who destroyed his personal life in litigation.

"It's been brought home to me in the last 20 years that litigation is not always the best way to solve things," he said.

The judge's remarks came after two days of testimony, which saw Rowling nearly burst into tears and lament that the legal case has "decimated" her creativity over the past month.

The fan behind the unauthorized encyclopedia, Steve Vander Ark, also broke down on the witness stand as he described being cast out of Harry Potter fandom because of the unwanted controversy.

Vander Ark, a Potter-obsessed former librarian who based his book on a popular fan Web site he operates, testified that he always thought a print version of his lexicon would be a violation of copyright law.

He said he only agreed to compile the encyclopedia after RDR Books owner Roger Rapoport approached him last summer and promised to indemnify him in the event of a lawsuit by Rowling. Rowling and Warner Bros. are suing RDR Books in an effort to stop publication of Vander Ark's "Harry Potter Lexicon."

Patterson cautioned that the lawsuit is ripe for a prolonged dispute. "This could go to the appellate court. This could go to the Supreme Court," he said.

Rowling, who took the stand for a second time yesterday, hinted she would be willing to settle the case if Vander Ark would agree to change his book to include more commentary and analysis.

The billionaire author said litigation was her "absolute last resort" after attempting to "reach out" to Vander Ark.

"I repeatedly said to Mr. Vander Ark, 'Do your book, but change it so it does not take so much of my work,' " said Rowling, who has plans to write her own Harry Potter encyclopedia and give the proceeds to charity.

Rowling claims the encyclopedia manuscript is a "wholesale theft" of her words, offers nothing more than a list of characters in alphabetical order and her own descriptions, without the courtesy of even quotation marks.

"I didn't fly here [from Scotland] because I was worried about losing sales," said Rowling. "I'm here because I passionately believe that this case is about authors' right to protect their creation. If this book is published, the floodgates will open."

At the close of the court day, Patterson once again urged the parties to settle the lawsuit.

"This case is in a murky state of the law," said Patterson. "I've listened to the parties and heard them. I'm not sure you couldn't settle even now, if you listen to what's being said."

Ashlee Simpson: I'm Keeping Pete's Proposal 'Sacred'

Ashlee Simpson is one ecstatic wife-to-be, and her diamond sparkler had her gushing to Ryan Seacrest on Thursday morning.

Calling into to his KIIS-FM radio show Thursday morning, the 23-year old singer giggled when Seacrest brought up her impressive ring from fiancé Pete Wentz, 28. "It is [huge]!" Simpson said from her mother's New York City hotel room, "I stare at it. I'm like, 'Oh, my god, I can't believe this is on [my] hand!'"

Simpson was more coy about other details of their recent engagement to the Fall Out Boy bassist. "I'm keeping that part sacred," she said of Wentz's actual proposal. "But I will tell you it was very thoughtful and he did a great job."

Pushed on whether she was planning on drinking alcohol Thursday night, Simpson stayed mum on her pregnancy, playfully answering, "Who knows. Maybe."

Still, Simpson couldn't contain her happiness. Despite the name of her upcoming album – Bittersweet World, out April 22 – she said she was "extremely in love making the record."

Rapper Nas called the newly engaged couple "super people" and shared his recipe for rock star marital bliss with PEOPLE at a Belvedere vodka event. Ashanti: I'm Not Slamming Nelly in My Video

Is sexy songstress Ashanti's new video for her song "Way That I Love You" a kiss-off to rumored boyfriend Nelly? After all, in the video, a knife-wielding Ashanti gets sweet revenge on a cheating ex.

Ashanti says, "It's not!" She explains, "I wrote that record last summer ... The song is just about real life. It's for every woman who has gone through it."

But that doesn't mean the songbird hasn't experienced the heartache of a good relationship gone bad due to infidelity. "Definitely," says Ashanti, who turns to Mary J. Blige's "Not Gonna Cry" to help her through breakups. "It's a rude awakening when you get used to being happy, but it's a part of life. I didn't kill the person!"

Some of the song's lyrics do ring true, though. "Of course I've snooped! Before [sidekicks] came out, I was snooping through regular cell phones, Skytel, everything! Whatever he had out, I was all in it!"

And as for the current status of her relationship with Nelly? "We're really, really good friends."

Kristy Lee Cook’s Secret Engagement

She may have been cut from American Idol on Wednesday, but Kristy Lee Cook has something else to look forward to — her wedding.

The 24-year-old country singer from Selma, Ore., is engaged to Andy Dobner. Her ring, a marquis cut, has “quite a few diamonds on it,” the singer told reporters Thursday. “We kind of picked it out together a long time ago just kind of for fun, shopping around for a ring.”

Although they haven’t set a date yet, Cook said they’re thinking of next June. As for her dream wedding, Cook says, “I would love to have Jason Aldean sing at the wedding or I would say Celine Dion.” The American Idol judges are also “definitely” invited, but they may want to keep their opinions to themselves.

Says Cook, “I’ve always wanted to sing at my own wedding since I was little.”

The couple were set up by a mutual friend while Cook was waiting tables at an Italian restaurant in Grants Pass, Ore.

“He had just been in the woods chopping down Christmas trees,” Cook told PEOPLE. “He came down [to the restaurant] and he was so cute, and he sat down in a booth and when I was walking off all the girls caught him double looking at me hanging out of the booth! And I was like, ‘Hey, you know I need a Christmas tree,’ and he said, ‘Well, I’ll take you up and we’ll go.’ So, I gave him my number and he called me up 20 minutes later while I was at work and said, ‘You want to do something tomorrow?’”

Although Dobner proposed while the pair were soaking in a sauna on March 15, Cook told reporters she wanted to keep it on the down low, so she could focus on American Idol. But her beau surprised her with a very public proposal when he popped the question on television on American Idol Extra, airing Thursday. “He reenacted the proposal and actually got down on his knees this time,” Cook said. “The first time he didn’t so he owed it to me.”

Jessica Alba in Frantic Nesting Mode

Jessica Alba and fiancé Cash Warren are making the final preparations for their first child – and the actress says time's running out.

"I'm just trying to get my house ready before the baby comes," Alba, 26, said Wednesday night at PEOPLE's book party for Healthy Child Healthy World author Christopher Gavigan. "It's kind of hectic, it's getting close and the house isn't even ready yet."

With Alba taking time off from acting, she's handling the bulk of the duties to get ready for baby, which Alba revealed recently is a girl.

"I'm not working so it's been a good place to put all my energy so it's been a nice distraction," she said at the event at Lucques restaurant in West Hollywood.

"I'm used to having to be somewhere all the time, and it's kind of the first time in my life where I really haven't been working in a while, and now it's just about the baby being healthy, the house being ready, and nesting, it's really different. It's cool – I feel like I'm fully absorbing the whole experience.

She hasn't been too busy to think about wedding plans – "How could you not!" she says – but Alba's keeping mum on the details.

Meanwhile, in between nesting, Alba is keeping an eye on her pre-natal diet.

"I have to make sure that I'm eating more of the right nutrients and vitamins, but I'm not used to eating this much," she says. "I've had to take time out of the day to eat before I get cranky and rundown and tired. Before I was just like the energizer bunny."

Happy Birthday, Vicki B.

Everyone's favorite robot, the illustrious Victoria Beckham, turns 34 years old today and last night stepped out on the town with a couple of friends and her supersexy hubby David Beckham to get the party started a bit early. Here are a few pics of VB and Becks along with her BFFs Eva Longoria and Kate Beckinsale as they stepped out from having dinner together at the just-opened Hollywood eatery Beso (which is owned by Eva Longoria) ... curiously, the Cruises were noticeably absent from the festivities:

Victoria Beckham's stepped out with a gaggle of high-profile girlfriends for an early 34th birthday celebration - British actress Kate Beckinsale, and Eva Longoria - but where was girlfriend Katie Holmes and husband Tom Cruise? The couple who had famously welcomed the Beckhams with open arms upon their high-profile arrival in Los Angeles, were noticeably absent at the dinner for the Spice Girl as Eva Longoria's Hollywood eatery. The Cruises were nowhere to be seen as Posh, who turns 34 today, enlisted her other A-list pals to help her kick off her birthday celebrations a day early. Joined by new best friends, actress Kate Beckinsale and Desperate Housewives star Eva Longoria, Posh dined at Beso, Longoria's Latin-America restaurant in Hollywood. Bastketball widow Eva's husband Tony Parker was - as usual - on duty for team San Antonio Spurs, however, she played the generous hostess, inviting her celebrity friends to her newly opened restaurant. Looking very futuristic in an electric blue mini-dress, Victoria giggled with the girls in the back seat of David's personalised Lincoln Navigator 'truck' as he played taxi driver for his wife and her pals. Katie Holmes conspicuous absence comes after a source claimed husband Tom is concerned that the Spice Girl is rubbing off on his wife just a bit too much. According to the source, the actor is keen to put some distance between his actress wife and Victoria.

You know, I'd expect that the world-famous Beckhams would have a few more friends to call on to celebrate an occasion like this but, really, we don't see them hanging out with many folks at all. Shoot, I bet they only called Eva just so they could eat for free at her restaurant. Kate is a new friend, they've only been hanging out for about a month now. To be honest tho, if I were married to David Beckham I don't think I'd make much time for anyone else either ... and maybe that's what's really going on. Any any rate, I guess I should send out some Birthday Lurve to Vicki B. ... and best wishes that all her cogs and silicone parts hold out for at least another year.

Britney's Workin' On Her Fitness ... And Her Bank Account

Just yesterday I publicly pontificated on the positive new vibe that Britney Spears has got goin' on these days in that she seemed poised to be in pursuit of making a big career comeback (seriously this time). She's been spending a lot of alone time with her sons, she's been showing up a recording studios and for vocal training around town and she's diligently started a new work out regiment that I presumed was to prepare her for the possibility of a tour sometime down the road -- all extremely positive things. It turns out that while the working out is good she may have an ulterior motive for her frequent visits to the gym -- the Bally Total Fitness gym, I might add. TMZ is reporting that a possible deal is in the works between Britney Spears and Bally's for some sort of endorsement deal. Here are a few pics from Brit Brit's latest visit to Bally's Total Fitness yesterday afternoon:

Sources tell TMZ Britney Spears is in negotiation with Bally Total Fitness to be a frontwoman for the company ... Here's what we know. Brit's parents have both been talking to Bally about making a deal. Daddy Jamie has the power as co-conservator to make it happen. It all happened because Larry Rudolph, who is coming back to manage the Britster, has a close friendship with John Wildman, the Chief Marketing Officer of Bally. During the negotiations, Brit has been going to the club at least once a day and up to as many as three times a day. She's training with two of the company's top personal trainers -- we're guessing one for the front and one for the back. She's also working with the company's nutritionist, who has put Britney on five to six quality meals a day. No Taco Bell, no Fanta ... life can really suck. As of now, there is no deal -- just negotiations. We're told she isn't getting any money yet, but she's working out for free. As a company insider put it to us, "We're more interested in Britney Spears' health than her $19."

This is really great news, Larry Rudolph has already got Britney talking serious new endorsement deals. Sure, she's still a long ways away from scoring mega-million dollar deals with companies like Pepsi again but this is a great first step. There is a Bally Total Fitness in pretty much every city in the country so it's no small endorsement deal we're talking here. Just a few months ago, it would've been unfathomable that any company would want to ally themselves with Britney Spears. It would've been equally unbelievable that she'd be asked to do a guest spot on a TV show and she's already done that successfully. Larry Rudolph is a pure genius and with him back at the helm of Britney's career, he is sure to work as hard as he can to make his big talk about the "greatest comeback in history" a reality. LOOOOOOVE IT!!!!

Hilary Duff: I See Myself in Miley Cyrus

Hilary Duff dishes on her fellow celebutantes in the May 2008 issue of Allue.

Here’s what Hil, 20, had to say about Lindsay Lohan, Miley Cyrus and Avril Lavigne:

On Lindsay Lohan: “Supposedly, I stole Lindsay Lohan’s boyfriend [Aaron Carter.] We were, like, 13! And I’ve never stolen anyone’s boyfriend! I don’t know how you do that! . . . She was talking about it and I wasn’t. It made us both look bad and put up a big weirdness. Really she was just a girl my age. We are fine now, by the way.”

On Miley Cyrus: “We don’t have each other’s phone numbers. But when she meets me, she’s excited. It’s cute – I see a lot of myself in her.”

On Avril Lavigne: “I said something about how she didn’t like her fans dressing like her, and how she should appreciate that because it’s a compliment. She called me a goody-goody [Lavigne called Duff a ‘mommy’s girl’ in Newsweek] Everyone is trying to prove who they are, and their position. So, I’m ‘the good girl.’ She’s ‘the bad girl’ or ‘the party girl.’ Sarah Jessica Parker doesn’t take her clothes off, but she’s not a ‘good girl.’ [Adult actors] don’t get tagged like we do.”

EXCLUSIVE: Solange Knowles' Message to Jamie Lynn Spears

Solange Knowles knows the challenge of being a famous teen mother.

Knowles, now 21, welcomed son Daniel in 2004 at the age of 18 (she split with husband, former college football player Daniel Smith, after the baby was born).

"I'm sure a lot of people perceived that I was gonna be a young, irresponsible mom," Knowles told Us during a recent visit.

But Knowles pointed out, "I think that there are some moms who are 35 who are just as irresponsible."

What advice does she have for the 17-year-old mom-to-be Jamie Lynn Spears?

"You just have to make the best decisions for you," Knowles said. "You have to decide what's best for you.

"Who are we to say what's right and wrong for a person?"

To focus on raising her son, Knowles said she "moved to the country for a year" without any nannies or babysitters.

"My parents lived on a whole opposite part of the world," she said. "My son has been my focus ever since the day he was born."

"He's been the light of my life," she added, "the inspiration behind everything."

New Children's Book Explains Mom's Plastic Surgery

A Florida plastic surgeon has written a children's book called My Beautiful Mommy – out on Mother's Day – to teach kids why their mother is going under the knife for cosmetic enhancements.

"The kids have questions," author Dr. Michael Salzhauer told Newsweek.

My Beautiful Mommy is about a mother who gets a tummy tuck, breast implants and a nose job.

"You see, as I got older, my body stretched and I couldn't fit into my clothes anymore," the character explains. "Dr. Michael is going to help fix that and make me feel better."

Salzhauer said while "parents generally tend to go into this denial thing" and "try to ignore the kids' questions completely," children are legitimately confused and worried.

For instance, he said, "With the tummy tucks, [mothers] can't lift anything, they're in bed."

One mother interviewed by Newsweek was grateful.

"I didn't want [my son] to think [the surgery] was because I was hurting," she said. "It was to make me feel good."

The American Society of Plastic Surgeons reports that 348,000 breast augmentations and 148,000 tummy tucks were performed in 2007.

Ashlee Simpson "Didn't Know" She'd Wed "Right Now"

Ashlee Simpson did not mention her pregnancy during an interview on Ryan Seacrest's KIIS-FM radio show Thursday morning.

But she opened up about hubby-to-be Pete Wentz.

"I didn't know I'd be getting married right now, but I'm so happy to be!" she said, calling from her mother's Ritz-Carlton hotel room in NYC. "I'm a lucky girl."

How did Wentz – a Hot Hollywood Style honoree – pop the question?

"That part I am keeping sacred," she said, "but I will tell you that it was very thoughtful, and he did a great job.

"Of course, it was thoughtful," she added, "He's like that."

Simpson — who flashed her new engagement ring (which Wentz designed) in NYC Wednesday — said she loved her rock.

"It's definitely a big diamond!" she said. "I go, 'Oh, my God, I can't believe its on my hand!'"

When asked if she'd be marrying soon, Simpson replied, "I can't tell my secrets," but added, "my mom loves Pete, so does my dad!"

Seacrest avoided asking flat-out if she were pregnant, but asked whether she'd be drinking booze during her stay this week in NYC (where she is promoting her new album Bittersweet World).

Simpson replied, "Who knows? Maybe."

Brittany Snow: Sophia Bush Helped Me Overcome Anorexia

Prom Night star Brittany Snow says she couldn't have beat her nine-year battle with anorexia without the support of actress (and BFF) Sophia Bush.

"Sophia gives really, really good advice," Snow, 22, reveals in the May issue of CosmoGIRL!. "I was going through a difficult time, and she was going through a difficult time figuring out the whole Chad [Michael Murray split] thing.

"We had so many slumber parties where she held my hand [as we worked] through a lot of different things," Snow goes on. "When somebody can be there through something like that, they're a friend forever."

Snow says she decided to make her struggle with anorexia public after two of her friends died from an eating disorder.

"I was devastated," she says. "I have so many girlfriends who are not even in Hollywood who struggle with eating disorders — Sophia and Amanda [Bynes] are the only two people I know who are happy with their bodies."

Living in the superficial world of Hollywood, Snow says she is glad she overcame her battle at an early age.

"I think everybody wants to be popular, especially out here in Hollywood," she says.

"Thank God I went through all of that so early, in middle and high school, to realize it's not about being popular or cool — it's about being who you are."

Norton Finds Reports of Hulk Feud Incredible

Perhaps The Hulk's troubles aren't so massive after all.

Edward Norton, star of the would-be summer blockbuster The Incredible Hulk, is looking to refute the rampant rumors that a disagreement over the film's final cut has pitted him and director Louis Leterrier against Marvel Entertainment.

"Every good movie gets forged through collaboration, and different ideas among people who are all committed and respect the validity of each other's opinions is the heart of filmmaking," the Oscar-nominated actor said in a statement to Entertainment Weekly Wednesday.

"Regrettably, our healthy process, which is and should be a private matter, was misrepresented publicly as a 'dispute,' seized on by people looking for a good story and has been distorted to such a degree that it risks distracting from the film itself, which Marvel, Universal and I refuse to let happen."

In recent weeks, word had gotten out that Marvel, wanting a more wham-bam commercial cut, objected to Leterrier's more detailed, two hour-plus version of the film—a creative difference that had Norton seeing red, if not exactly turning green.

Leterrier recently told EW he regretted that Norton and Marvel "didn't come to an agreement where we could've all worked together."

''Everyone was exhausted; it was like a little burst,'' the French director, who's perhaps best known for helming the Transporter films, said. '''I'm angry with you!' 'No, I'm angry with you!' And me in the center saying 'Boys, calm down.' It didn't come to blows. It was just a remark here and there.''

Then it "became public," he said, adding that it was the press that "kept Edward and Marvel from talking to each other. [The purported feud] was nothing and then it became something big."

For his part, Norton maintains the tale of disquiet on the set has been blown way out of proportion.

"In every phase of production, including the editing, working with Louis Leterrier has been wonderful," his statement continued. "I've never had a better partner, and the collaboration with all the rest of the creative team has been terrific...

"It has always been my firm conviction that films should speak for themselves and that knowing too much about how they are made diminishes the magic of watching them. All of us believe The Incredible Hulk will excite old fans and create new ones and be a huge hit...Our focus has always been to deliver the Hulk that people have been waiting for and keep the worldwide love affair with the big green guy going strong.''

The production was a risky venture to begin with, considering Ang Lee's adaptation of the saga featuring the easily excitable Dr. Bruce Banner—the simply titled Hulk—was a flop as far as comics-inspired action extravaganzas are concerned, grossing only $132 million domestically.

But thanks to Marvel Comics' eventual decision to start breathing big-screen life into its own classic characters with its own studio shingle, the misunderstood green guy has another chance to find a cure for what ails him.

Leterrier's The Incredible Hulk will pick up where the 2003 film left off, with Norton's Banner already hiding out in South America, where he's searching for an antidote to the gamma ray exposure that left him prone to what you might call rather intense fits of rage.

Liv Tyler, William Hurt and Tim Roth also star as love interest Betty Ross, Gen. Thaddeus Ross and villain Emil Blonsky, respectively. The film storms into wide release June 13.

Norton's characterization of the production's troubles as overblown should come as a relief to Hulk fans, who are hoping this film succeeds where its predecessor failed, although opinions are mixed as far as which running time would have been the better choice.

"[Lord of the Ring] sequels were sequels to hit movies. The first one was long and it worked. Godfather was long and it worked and was a hit. So the sequels were long too," wrote user DBZ2cool on one of the SuperheroHype.com boards devoted to the new film.

"Same cannot be said about hulk [sic]. hulk was [a] long, boring and really depressing movie."

Meanwhile, Bannerless Hulk wrote that the decision by Marvel to "axe character development in favor of commercial vitality runs squarely against their stated intent to do things the way [the very well-received] Batman Begins did. I don't see how 1:45 or less pulls off Batman Begins otherwise.

"Alas, the negative publicity just keeps trucking along. I can almost hear the general public laughing at the core fans, as we hope against all hope that the movie actually does well."

Housewives Ratings Blame Game

Who's to blame for Desperate Housewives' recent ratings slip? Star James Denton believes ABC may have something to do with it.

Denton thinks the network could have done a better job at marketing the return of the series on Sunday after it was sidelined for three months due to the writers' strike. "They didn't promote it," the actor said at last night's Cool Comedy-Hot Cuisine fundraiser for the Scleroderma Research Foundation in Beverly Hills. "Nobody knew we were back. I couldn’t believe the lack of promotion."

Housewives isn't the only show Denton thinks ABC isn't giving any love to. "Grey’s has the same issue," he said. "They don’t promote them any more either."

Viewership for the Sunday premiere hit a record low for an original Housewives episode, down 15 percent from its average of 18.9 million viewers, according to Nielsen Media Research.

Then again, it's not like Denton is completely distraught over viewership: "Sixteen million is a victory after all that time off."
