Gwyneth Paltrow is an Iron Woman

Gwyneth Paltrow glows in a sparkly mini at the premiere of her superhero flick Iron Man at the Cinemaxx on Tuesday in Berlin, Germany.

Who’s that on her dress? Elizabeth Taylor?? The 35-year-old shoe fashionista also didn’t try any new daring footwear this time around–she stuck to classic black Christian Louboutin pumps.

When asked what friends and family members thought about her doing this kind of film, Gwyneth said, “A lot of people were really confused when they heard I was doing Iron Man. They thought I was doing an Ironman triathlon.”

Derf!

Of course, lead actor Robert Downey Jr. attended as well. Iron Man blasts into theaters everywhere on Friday, May 2.

Gossip Girl Ratings Get No Love

Penn Badgley and Jessica Szohr shoot scenes for their not-such-a-hit drama Gossip Girl on Monday in New York City.

Not such a hit? Well, according to overnight Nielsen ratings, only 2.44 million viewers tuned in to the return of Gossip Girl last night, which is only slightly better than its last original episode on January 9. However, GG did help The CW score its highest ratings ever in the Monday 8-9pm time period among adults 18-34 (1.9/6) and women 18-34 (2.9/8).

So what did taking down streams of new Gossip Girl episodes online do? Absolutely nothing!

Check out this new interview with Penn at NYMag.com. And it’s been reported that model and magazine heiress Lydia Marie Hearst-Shaw, 23, will be on the season finale of Gossip Girl.

And what happened last night?? Wasn’t someone supposed to be of “the gay persuasian”?

Gwyneth Paltrow Talks USA Weekend

What do Liv Tyler, Gwyneth Paltrow and Maggie Gyllenhaal have in common?

All of these lovely ladies will be starring in superhero flicks coming soon to a theater near you–Incredible Hulk, Iron Man and The Dark Knight, respectively.

Here’s what Liv, Gwyn and Maggie had to say after being asked, “How do you think women have changed in these kind of films over the years?”

Gwyneth: There’s a reason why they’re hiring actresses like us. We’re all women, we’re all mothers, and we all normally do different films. There’s a certain understanding of who we are and what we bring and a certain respect for that.
Maggie: Twenty or 30 years ago, the women in these films were vapid and just appeared for extra silliness.
Liv: In all these films, our characters have real jobs and really fall in love and have real dilemmas. When you look at the history of the comic books, the women also have changed.

“I don’t mind it, it changed my life. I haven’t seen the downside to this nickname yet. McSteamy has been good to me so far.”

Janet Jackson Reveals Her "Girl Crush"

Who has caught Janet Jackson's eye?

"I think I would pick Alicia Keys," she tells E! when asked who she'd have a same sex fling with. "I think she's wonderful."

Some blogs have speculated that Keys and Oprah Winfrey are gay.

Jackson says people question the two stars' sexuality because they're "strong women. Maybe they want to put something else behind it because of the strength. Like, you can't be a woman and be strong, and there has to be something else to it."

So what if her beau Jermaine Dupri came out of the closet?

"I'd be upset because I want to be with him!" she says, laughing. "It's so funny because I joke with him, 'It drives me crazy to be a girl sometimes, so in my next life I'm going to come back as a guy, and you're going to be my bitch!'"

Kidding aside, Jackson says she wants gay marriage legalized.

"I think it's about finding your soul mate," she says. "It's finding that person you connect with, but most people don't get it right.

"Look at me!" she adds. "The thing is I don't know if I ever will or won't get married again. I'm very happy where I am."

Says Jackson, "I just think I jinx marriages, but that's not going to stop me from loving."

Nicole Kidman: Say No To Violence Against Women

UNIFEM Goodwill Ambassador Nicole Kidman answers questions at a press conference against violence towards women at the United Nations on Tuesday in New York City.

“One in three women will encounter violence in some way, shape or form against them in their lifetime,” Nicole said. “That’s an extraordinary statistic. Yet do we ever hear it?”

The 40-year-old pregnant actress encouraged the signing of an online petition to support the elimination of violence against women.

“I’m a mother, I have a child on the way, I have two children in the world and a lot of (my motivation) is about realizing the things that are wrong and how can I contribute,” she added. “What are the things I can contribute to help my children have a better life and help other children around the world have a better life and other citizens of the world have a better life.

Not Retiring For A While

Reports are surfacing that CNN has agreed to an extension of Larry King's contract.

The live talk show anchor will now stay on through 2010, which will last beyond his 77th birthday.

Poor Katie Couric, she was hoping to get his spot one day!

A current New York Times about Katie's post-CBS future claims, "Couric discussed several things she might do if she left the anchor post, according to the executives, including a daily talk show to be syndicated by CBS, or replacing Larry King in a prime-time position on CNN."

Too bad it won't happen. She'd kill the show with poor ratings anyways!

Although CNN doesn't comment on employee contracts, a spokesperson did say, "Larry is the best there is, he'll be here for a long time."

Let's hope he doesn't die on air!

Captain Kobes "No Dealed" one too many times, going from a $144,000 offer to accepting a mere $26,000. At the end of the episode, however, the Captain ended up tripling his take-home total to a respectable $78,000 during a spin of the "deal wheel."

We hope 'someone' will arrange to have a check mailed to the Captain that'll cover the mortgage bill!

The Hilton Sisters Dig Daggers and Double Dates

Now that Paris is back in LA after playing Good Charlotte groupie for a few months, it's Benji's turn to be arm candy. Last night the couple made it a double date with Nicky and David Katzenberg at the Chateau Marmont for the unveiling of Jade Jagger's Belvedere Jagger Dagger (and yes, it's an actual sword). Paris looks like she went a little overboard reuniting with her tanning salon earlier in the day. Aside from that, these four look pretty happy together — maybe if Nicole rejects Paris' double wedding idea, she can pitch the idea to Nicky and David instead.

Trimming The Fat, Outing A Gossip Boy

Are you hating yourself for missing out on watching Gossip Girl last night? To be fair, this 1-minute vid clip doesn't include all of the important bits from last night's ep ... the hilarious shout-out to Brody Jenner's phone didn't make the cut.

In other GG vid news, Kelly Rutherford (who plays Lily van der Woodsen) reveals which character on the show is going to come out as the "gay character" in an exclusive video interview with US Weekly:

The Hills: Odd Girl Out

Well, despite the questionable decisions that Audrina has been making on the past few episodes of The Hills, leading up to her most questionable behavior yet on last night's ep, this week's installment of The Hills was kinda tame. There was a lot of back and forth with couples conversing about various things but nothing juicy really took place (all the drama was found in last night's ep of Gossip Girl, which I thoroughly enjoyed from start to finish). We did see Audrina tighten the noose on her own neck, ensuring that she would be well on her way off LC's A-List and back in the arms of her fave bad boy Justin Bobby:

I think we all see where things are going on The Hills ... LC and Heidi are being brought together in closer proximity due to LC's new friendship with the She-Spencer and Audrina's rekindled friendship with Heidi herself. Reacting Justin Bobby to bathwater, LC was so repelled by having to sit on the same couch with both JB and Heidi that she pretty much bolted for the door as quickly as possible ... it was at that moment that she started thinking about how to expunge Audrina from her life, taking JB and Heidi with her -- enter Lo, the perfect new roommate. The only way to get LC to run from the Hills of Hollywood and into a house in the Valley would be for her roommate to take up with 2 of her enemies ... the only thing that could'd've made the sitch worse would be if Audrina started hanging out with Spencer too (who, btw, only got about 20 secs. of screen time ... which is still commendable since he really had nothing at all to do with any of the drama last night). With Lo back in the picture, LC can move on and away from all the baggage she can't seem to get rid of ... and which Audrina seems hell-bent on getting reattached to. While all of this is interesting, it's not really all that juicy. It seemed obvs that LC and Lo weren't really that interested in inviting Audrina to move in with them but they had to save face in front of her. Now, I'm not sure if Audrina was just completely clueless about what was going on or she was merely trying to deny that she is becoming person non grata but in either case it's a little sad. Things have ended on the assumption that the ladies would be living in harmony but I doubt that's gonna happen. If Audrina wants to stay on LC's good side then she's gonna hafta get rid of JB (and Heidi). You can just tell that Justin Bobby has complete control over poor Audrina (did you catch that bit about how Audrina revealed that it was JB who stopped returning her endless calls and txts and that is why they stopped seeing each other ... and now he's back and she's all wrapped up again). Girls can be so dumb sometimes. Next week's ep looks kinda okay ... Stephen returns to The Hills, which should stir up all those old feelings from the Laguna Beach: The Real OC days ... I'm just not sure that dead horse can get beaten any further to make it interesting. I guess we'll see.

The video is really cute and is a great tease for the upcoming ep ... Ellen makes a deal with Becks that if she kicks a soccer ball "well" then he'll "take something off" -- cut to Ellen kicking the ball perfectly and Becks unbuttoning his jacket:

Some of you may have been seeing the new trailers that have been playing on TV in the past week ... and I'm sure that you, like I, are completely floored by the hyper-colorness of how the movie looks. As if the Wachowski brothers knew beforehand that all the neon colors would be in fashion this summer, Speed Racer has been amped up and overloaded with crazy intense action and color. I'm really excited to see the film just so that I can take in all the intensity on the big screen rather than on my TV or computer screen.

I plan to see Speed Racer in IMAX because I'm pretty sure it'll be mind-blowing on that large a scale. I dunno if promo appearances like the one the cast did over the weekend at the Grand Prix are gonna do much for ticket sales but I'm totally sold based on the movie trailers that can been seen on the official site.

Star Jones Files for Divorce from Al Reynolds

Star Jones has filed for divorce from husband Al Reynolds, the former View co-host has announced.

In a statement to Entertainment Tonight, Jones, 46, says: "Several years ago I made an error in judgment by inviting the media into the most intimate area of my life. A month ago I filed for divorce. The dissolution of a marriage is a difficult time in anyone's life that requires privacy with one's thoughts."

The statement concludes as follows: "I have committed myself to handling this situation with dignity and grace and look forward to emerging from this period as a stronger and wiser woman."

Jones and Reynolds, a banker who is seven years' Jones's junior, married in 2004 in an elaborate ceremony – complete with controversial corporate sponsors – that included 500 guests and the bride's arrival at the church in a horse-drawn carriage.

"Every single wedding fantasy I ever had was fulfilled, down to the most handsome groom in the history of the world," Reynolds told PEOPLE at the time.

As early as 2006, however, Jones was putting to rest rumors that her marriage was on the rocks. "These categorically false stories and their continuation are clearly being generated by someone for vindictive reasons alone," Jones said through her publicist.

In all, it has been a bumpy two years for the former View cohost, who parted ways with the ABC daytime program – and with its chief host and executive producer, Barbara Walters – in 2006.

In early February of this year, when her eponymous TruTV (formerly Court TV) show left the air, Jones expressed pride in her efforts and in herself.

In a statement at the time, she said, "Whenever there is a change in life, you re-assess, re-evaluate and decide if what you are doing ... is what you should be doing. My answer is yes."

Kim Kardashian: ‘No Love Lost’ with Paris

What’s a little “cottage cheese” between friends? Nothing more than a snack, according to Kim Kardashian.

“We spoke and it’s all fine,” Kardashian told PEOPLE Tuesday night when asked if she had talked with her pal Paris Hilton since the heiress called Kardashian’s backside “cottage cheese” in a recent interview.

“No love lost,” the star of E!’s Keeping Up with the Kardashians, 27, said. “She’s a great girl. I love her.”

Hanging with sister Khloe and brother Robert at Kanye West’s Absolut 100 concert after-party at Hollywood club Goa where, coincidentally, Hilton also hung with her boyfriend, Benji Madden, Kardashian was relaxed after wrapping her second season and vacationing in Mexico.

“We just came back from a good vacation,” Kardashian said, adding that her boyfriend of a year, NFL player Reggie Bush, joined the family on holiday and their relationship is “great, really good, thank you.”

Asked if she and Bush want to settle down, Kardashian says, “Of course we do … We don’t think too far ahead, but we have a really good time together.”

Her sister Khloe has her opinion on that, too. “I hope [they get married], I love Reggie. I think they complement each other. But I still think it’s early, I don’t know. People want to rush everything. She’s amazing. She’s so mature, she’s so the girl that’s like a one-guy person. That takes a teamwork thing. They have to grow together. It’s like a serious step.” – Nicholas White

Jamie-Lynn Sigler and Boyfriend Scott Sartiano Split

It's over for Sopranos star Jamie-Lynn Sigler and Scott Sartiano, her boyfriend of two years, a source confirms to PEOPLE.

"They are currently split up as they're living on different coasts and their lives are taking a different direction," the source says. "They are still really close and you never know what is going to happen in the future."

After her marriage with manager AJ DiScala ended in 2006, Sigler, 26, was inseparable from Sartiano, 33, a nightlife impresario in New York who co-owns Butter restaurant and the newly opened lounge 1OAK.

The relationship turned rocky recently, and "she went to New York to work on their problems," says a friend of Sigler's. "She was in New York up until a few days ago and that's when it ended." Another friend called the breakup "mutual. They have both accepted it and are doing their own thing. They're still very close and share so much love for each other."

Sigler stepped out with gal pals on Tuesday night at the Svedka-sponsored launch of philanthropic fashion campaign for Heal the Bay at Fred Segal in Santa Monica – and her attitude about the future was telling. She told PEOPLE of her plans for the summer: "I'm going to Coachella. It's gonna kick off my summer fun with the girls! It's all about me right now. And I like that. I've never had that in my life."

Cameron Diaz's Family Pays Tribute to Her Father

Cameron Diaz's family remembered her father Emilio for his humor and honesty, and said they're coping with his April 15 death with the help of "an amazing outpouring of love."

"His love for laughter was undeniable and he embraced life head-on in such a dynamic way that he was impossible to forget," the family said in an exclusive statement to PEOPLE.

Emilio Diaz, 58, died from post-influenza MRSA pneumonia, an aggressive staph infection that can occur in all ages and in otherwise healthy people, the family said.

The Cuban-American Emilio, who is survived by wife Billie and their daughters Cameron, 35, and Chimene, 37, was a "playful abuelo" – Spanish for grandpa – who was "incredibly loyal and dependable" and always ready to "standup up for those who were less fortunate."

"As a family, it is almost impossible to put into words how amazing Emilio was," they said. "The one thing that was a certainty with Emilio was that you always knew where you stood with him. He was so honest and always spoke his mind."

He also "loved to share his love through laughter," the family said.

"The thing that was most important to him was his family," they said. "And he often said that his greatest accomplishment was raising two people that were better human beings than he was. He was devoted to each family member equally and was proud of the accomplishments they all made."

The Diaz family, they said, is dealing with their loss "through support and love from family and friends and the amazing outpouring of love and admiration from those people whose lives Emilio touched."

Ashlee Simpson is in Bikini Shape

Ashlee Simpson is red hot on the June 2008 cover of Shape.

“I never thought I’d be on the cover of a magazine in a bikini,” the 23-year-old singer tells the mag. “I try to listen to what my body craves. Sometime it tells me to eat more fruit, but sometimes it tells me to eat Skittles!”

When asked how she says in such great shape, Ashlee said, “Exercising makes me feel stronger and sexier. It just makes my whole day better. I have more energy to perform, my head is clearer—which helps me write my lyrics—and I sleep better. What more can you ask for? …I love it when my arms are toned, so we use weights to target them—and we do lunges to give my small butt more shape.”

Added the future Mrs. Pete Wentz, “Engaged life is fantastic. We are having a blast and are definitely thrilled.”

Sheryl Crow Backs Barack Obama

Sheryl Crow is speaking publicly about her endorsement of Democratic presidential candidate Barack Obama. Here’s the gist of what she had to say via her blog (all references to Barack were changed from Barak because she spelled it wrong each and every time):

“I am proud to support Barack Obama in his desire and mission to see America return to her greatness. I have carefully watched, like everyone else, the campaigns of both the democrats, as well as the republican candidate, and I could safely say that only one candidate is speaking to the beliefs I feel this country was founded on.

“I believe, like Barack Obama, that we can change our future, but not by repeating our history. …And, I will not be deterred in my support of Barack Obama because of ad campaigns that are meant to incite fear in us where our security is concerned, when the candidate running the ad voted to take us into war.”

: “It’s like a slapstick routine watching these drunk little men run around because they’re wobbly. (chuckles) When you see something happen that they couldn’t do the day before, it’s really heartwarming.”

On missing the chaos of family life when he’s away: “I was in the gilded cages of all these great hotels, and I just couldn’t figure out why I was so depressed. It was too quiet. I’m used to the noise and the laughter and even the crying.”

On celebrity getting to his head: “It gets very heady, fame. You’ve got to be very careful. I think I’ve been managing that well. This is a great opportunity now to really define the next part of my life. I just want to do it right.”

On dropping out of high school and moving to L.A. for acting. “I was dyslexic, so I never had the skills for school. “They’re very specific about what they like,” said Jane Lockhart, whose Sweet Lady Jane Bakery in West Hollywood made the cakes. “They wanted [Suri’s] cake to look simple and childlike so they designed it themselves, which was kind of interesting. EXCLUSIVE: American Idol David Archuleta's Father: I'm No "Stage Dad"

American Idol contestant David Archuleta has not only attracted attention for his stunning vocals.

He also has people talking because of his father, Jeff, who has been dubbed a demanding "stage dad" by some media outlets.

TMZ.com has reported that on Idol Jeff — a 47-year-old small business owner in Salt Lake City— has "screamed at his son and has even withheld water during rehearsals, even bringing his son to tears."

When David, now 17, competed on Star Search as a boy, then-judge Naomi Judd told the Today show that Jeff was the "worst stage dad."

For the first time ever, Jeff is speaking out about the allegations to Us, denying claims that he is controlling his son's career.

He also said there is "absolutely no truth in any of the stories about me yelling at David, making him cry or withholding water from him."

Read Jeff Archuleta's complete interview below.

How would you counter reports that you're a stage dad?
First of all, I had to understand what the term meant. When I think of ‘stage dad,’ I think of the overbearing parent who raises their kids to [compete] in every beauty pageant there is and puts them through a lot of dancing and singing and piano lessons. Once I understood what people thought of as a stage parent, I didn't understand [why I was targeted]. I'm definitely involved with my son, and I encourage him, but I think that's a lot different from forcing and threatening and all that stuff. There was absolutely no truth in any of the stories about me yelling at David, making him cry, or withholding water from him. That was crazy!

How would you characterize your involvement with David's career?
Because I'm also a musician, I'm probably a little bit more involved. I kind of look at it like, 'I'm David's music consultant,' someone he can bounce ideas off, who can help him because I do have a lot of experience.

How do you collaborate with David?
When we have a chance to sit down and talk - which is usually at night or in the morning - we'll discuss the songs and the choices he has. He'll ask me what I think, and I'll ask him what he feels good about, and we'll arrive at a consensus. Sometimes he'll call his mom up and get her in-put. We have a family team that tries to help David feel good about his song choices.

Have you ever been tempted to confront the judges about a comment?
No — they're entitled to their opinions. Sometimes they overreact, but at other times, they've been very instructive. Most of the time I'm fine with them.

How do you feel watching David perform?
It's hard to describe in words. Definitely a lot of emotions come across me; certain songs really hit me right to the core. When David has a great performance, it's very easy to shed a tear or two.

How would you describe his talent?
He's a reluctant singer. When he was young, he just couldn't understand why anyone would like hearing him sing. I think he was blessed with a musical ear that was so far beyond his years. His standard was set so high that he never has been able to live up to what he thinks he should sound like. As a result, he didn't think other people would like to hear his voice, until he was about 10 or 11.

When did you realize he had this talent and how did you encourage him?
I first realized he had talent when he was 4 or 5, and his mom taught him to play “Little Drummer Boy” and a church song on the piano. He played very well, but he was very shy and didn't really sing much. When we moved from Florida to Utah when he was 6, we didn't have a piano. I gave him a video to listen to one day just to keep him and his little brother busy while my wife and I were unpacking. He listened to this video of [Les Misérables] literally the entire day. When I came back, David had memorized several of the songs, complete with the Cockney accent. He was just belting out these songs, in tune, and I thought, 'Wow, he's really got a good ear.'

Over the next couple of years, he got quite into musicals, like Into the Woods and Evita. He’d watch the videos and sing the songs, and I could tell he definitely had talent. When he was 10 and learning Celine Dion and some Whitney Houston songs, I started hearing that he was going after the runs and the licks that usually [only] the divas can do. But he still didn't want to sing much, so we just had to wait until he wanted to. Then when he did, we just tried to find opportunities for him. We never were the type of parents who had him be in every talent show. He was in one talent competition when he was 10, and the next one he was in was Star Search. He did very well. He had just turned 12 and ended up winning his particular division, Junior Singer. Obviously, he realized then that people like to hear him sing, and it gave him more confidence. The best thing was the feedback from people — that's been David's motivation. He thought, 'Wow, if I can make people feel good through my singing, then I feel good singing.' That's what he thrives on.

How will you guys celebrate if he wins Idol?
I have no idea, I haven't thought about it.

Has he ever written a song for you or anyone in the family?
He has written some songs, and they're more like the songs that you'd probably want to record when Idol's over. He's a very talented songwriter as well. When David was on Star Search, we talked with some record labels, entertainment attorneys and producers to get advice. All of them pretty much verbatim said, 'Have him learn to play an instrument ... have him learn to write.' But at that age, David was still really too young to write. When he was 14, he started writing a little bit. Over the last couple of years, he's written some really nice songs, and he's continued to work on the piano. He started to play the guitar about a year ago.

On the March 25 episode, viewers saw a glimpse of a girl. Ryan Seacrest said David was taking her to prom. True?
That wasn't accurate at all — that was just something Ryan said. Someone must have said something just because there was a friend of his [there] who happened to be a girl. It wasn't a girlfriend; she's more like his sister.

So David doesn't have a girlfriend or anyone to take to prom?
Well, that's not to say if there was an opportunity for him to go, he wouldn't ask someone. He went to several dances during the first half of the school year. He's the type of kid who will go on group dates. He'll get 5 or 6 guys, they'll ask a bunch of girls who are friends and all go together as a group. David's still very conservative about [girl], and he doesn't see any rush with having to match up with a girl right now.
